  • Depends on how the car wants to act! Yup I like my Vw's but this is a new model and something vw was working the bugs out of.Just to let you know my 1st 91 passat lost it's timing belt and I blew 8 out 16 valves! then I bought a new head and had it installed by someone who should have known better, but ran the new plug wires over the manifold the wrong way....melted through the plug wire and was sending bad signals to the computer causing the car to do all kids of crazy shit...wanta know more?

  • Sounds like the ECU fucked up and had problems in timing the sparkplugs correctly, which made produced the white smoke due to a bad burn.

  • after the chip was installed right did you like it? and what else do you have done to it

  • I have a 1998 passat 1.8SE 20V and i have a problem also, when coming to a stand still the revs bounce between 600-1000RPM for about 5 seconds or so, any ideas???????????

  • It ended up being that the shop that installed the TT chip did not plug the ecu back in right. Thanks for the help anyhow.

I guess I have learned to double check things that other people have done myself.

  • i had that same dam problem with my car exact same thing it ended up being my coolant temp sensor and after that it worked better . but i noticed you said the timing was advanced alot and mine does the same shit. i was wondering when you pluged it in if i changed anything with the ignition

  • check your egr vavle and vacum lines

  • I just thought that it could be reving high due to a bad vacumme line or egr valve.

  • did you try your oxygen synsour and check your valves?
