I have a treasured tape - a copy of a copy of a.. which a friend gave me when she returned from Goa after the 91/92 season (I'd been twice but in the late 80s, met GG at a party in Calangute or Candolim) and the stuff simply blew me away. I listen to a *lot* of dance music, I always have, but this stuff is/was unique, special, I *still* love it, I've still absolutely no idea what/who it is or where it came from, my friend suggested some of it was.. from Japan?!?
i have to make a silly notice on this video...but women/men ratio is at least 50-50... much different from later fests and parties of this kind all around the world.. =)
Closely listen to an Inception dvd made prior to the January the 8th Tucson shooting, especially around the dialogue, "Do It." Check my quotes for more information.
There exists two videos from this party, one filmed by me,Missing Inka, and the other by a German, I think this one is by me, but can't actually remember,on joebanana net you find more information about Goa.By autumn hopefully I will have the videos in good quality working. Boom !

I have the original enture video. lots of personal stuff on there - stuff amongst friends. Some Scottish accent from behind the camera and footage from a house with sellers passing by, oh and something about a pig!! sound familiar? if yes, then uts yours, if no....well guess not.
Ahhhh...this is the Goa I remember... I crave this vibe..after this era it was ruined IMHO. It's all around 110 bpm.. the perfect bpm to express yourself while dancing...the era following this was the era of what I call competitive Trance. Was too fast and more like a sport. And lost the ability to look at people's faces. the new Goa trance was too fast and didn't give you a chance to do anything except try to not trip over your feet.
@gurubuzzzz@gurubuzzzz thats so right, the music at this time was more expressive and gave you room to be an idividual, both in the head and on the dancefloor, then we entered the realm of chakra trance :-))
fuck me this was happening and i was listening to the pissssss techno glasgow had to offer ...........whish some one said wana give goa a try ..i wound say i !
These were great days, thank god i was there, music was incredible those days, real twisted trance that generally the germans and dutch were doing, generally no 2 weekers(holiday makers) them days, and the gear was excellent, great post
i have a strange feeling that all these people met the e and he magial lsd:D.if so sniper a pill in my throat and lets enter the rabbit hole:D.magial party...amazing feelings.wish i was there.keep up the party for me too guys ;)
I don't like 'Goa Trance' at all, but this music is fantastic. Early German proto-trance maybe?????
Also, that looks like the ultimate party........trippy early 90s techno in a beach paradise filled with freakazoid europeans monged out of their minds on LSD.
@ryjones1 no dude, this is just trance. i suppose it's old enough to warrant being called 'classic trance'. but this is trance, this is what trance started off as and, for at least some people, is real trance. trance "evolved" past this kind of sound, but are trance derivatives as good as this? in my opinion, no. this is trance for me, if i'm talking about trance, i mean this kind of trance.
@crohnoes yes man exactly, that's the original trance. original detroit/spacey inspirating feeling in melodies and keep all the danceable, rhythmic part of techno/house music-not that fucking non rhytmical continous speed bass, without percussion and poor sound of goa and psy trance with that Middle East or industrial/goth melodies. to not talk about later nu ''dark psy''- a speedy non inspirated collage of noisy sounds or ''melodic metal/psy trance''-a rock music with beats.
@jpdt007 She's still really hot! They came here last year (Asheville) and she's just gorgeous. She doesn't look much different, just a little older, but she def. doesn't look her age. They've been together a long, long time now.
@jpdt007 She's still really hot! She doesn't look much different at all, just a tad bit older. They've been together a long, long time now. Very cool to see them so long ago. Totally cute couple - still.
@jpdt007 She's still hot! Very hot actually. She looks a tad bit older than that vid, but not much. Cool seeing them 18 years ago. They're a cute couple, still.
@jpdt007 wow great to see this im the guy with blue shirt and beside laurent i was in ccharge of bags that party allnight lazer duty and daytime chillum detail surrounded by friends.actually most of the parties were like this in that time.and of course the maestro d j was playing in all the good partiestoo along with gil louis hanuman dj greait days even allowing for retrospect aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Agree, but how?Back in 92 I was 12 years old..My first Techno party was back in 95,first Goa trance was 96..So Tracks from 94 and others are well known and listened to the parties, this I really dont know.I was too young..
Amazing footage!! Been looking for something like this to surface for years. Wow the vibe is incredible.. really deep "special music".. That is all we have left these days
great video..great vibe .. I feel the chills down my spine. My first season was 94-95 where it was a bit similar, but I remember this place..
For some reason I do like this music I hear here much more than much of the later goa trance. More funky and groove and more experimental..less formula.
Its laurent djaying, one of the most psychedelic djs ever, no the music was not called goa trance as such, more like Trance Dance, but by 92 we were saying goa trance more often.. Nik Meltdown
