I grew up listening to Whitman. We lived on 600 acres of Missouri bottom land, poor as the dirt was rich. We didn't have power, running water, or even a phone until 1958. After that our family constantly played the old CW greats, Whitman, Reeves, and many others. My step dad was German. So Whitman was played the most because of the yodelling. An amazing man. He doesn't need the money, he must be doing for the love of it.

Thanks for this video. It brings back memories of when I lived in Whitby, Ontario. I saw Slim Whitman live at the Civic Auditorium in Oshawa, Ontario..must have been in the 1970's. My sister's name is Rose Marie and she just happened to be visiting me at that time and we went to see him perform. He sang this song and i thought it was wonderful but she thought he was singing offkey. I guess he does vary the pitch.
