im running quad core amd 9650 3.ghrz and 3 way palit gts 250 green e edition i have no problems running on xp the core does show in xp64 all 4 of them . you just have to update your drivers

Im sorry but Im afraid you can. I think I covered this in an earlier comment but versions of Windows XP SP2 and higher were designed to recognize quad core processes. Running a Quad Core under earlier versions of XP is quite possible as well but, initially, under these older versions it may not be recognized as one.

Im a totally hardcore Nvidia fanboy but i heard the ATI 4850 was a great card, congrats :) Im pretty sure the E8500 is a dual core vs the Q6600 being a quad core. I think I explained this in one of my earlier comments but, not so many games and apps can fully take advantage of quad core capabilities yet, but many are optimized for dual core, like CRYSIS, with a quad core giving a little more space to span processess out on top of it.

I used to own a Phenom when they first came out... AMD intentionally released many of them with a major TLB bug causing the system to freeze up which ive heard is still around in some of its newer version Phenoms. Ive heard you can fix it by tweaking around in your BIOS, and by sacrificing 14% of your overall processing performance. In any case if you like the cheap prices AMD has to offer, I guess theres no arguement there... Overall Id spend another ~$100 to get a more reliable system.

The applications installed on top of your OS are what determine this, whether you have a 32bit or 64bit OS dosent matter. Some applications have multithread support and some dont.
