@matajesus4 You'd think so, but keep in mind sound is a spectrum and the numbers can "lie" like the devil if not interrupted & researched and tested extensively (and most of us don't - we just eat the info whole and take it for granted) . For example if you used a db meter on a dog whistle it might say 100+db = super loud.. yet you don't hear anything while you blow on it. As they say when it comes to first hand experience "The map is not the land."
The surefire mini cans are my favorite cans out there. I like them better than the kac, m4200 and any gemtech. Surefire cans are IMO the best and they really hit the nail on the head with the mini. Surefire is just a awesome company. They also make the best carbine (scout/mini scout) and pistol(x300) lights IMO.
Yes civilians can own suppressors in many states. States and if your a felon are pretty much the only reason you couldn't get one. You'll have to pay a tax stamp and wait about 4 months then you can own one. It's not very difficult at all. Don't be drawn away because of hearsay/uneducated people.
can't wait till you post the longer vid. Did you bring your Db meter with you? Though I think when it comes to volume perceived "loudness" is more important than meters. It's also worth mentioning that viewers should use caution when trying to asses the how loud a gunshot is based on a recording. Chances are the microphone used was a dynamic type that auto adjusts peak volume so it doesn't break up (hence no clicking or popping).
@GunWebsites The best analogy I can think of is a dynamic mic will act like a painter or photographer and "zoom" in or out as much as needed to fit the whole scene in frame. If your filming something small like a coin you can fill the whole frame and it'll look huge, especially to someone with a large screen. But if you try to film something big you'd have to zoom out quite a bit to get into frame. The lack of a uniform scale can make pennies look bigger than battleships on film.
Btw suppresors are not anything like you see in the movies. You can't shoot someone in a public place like you see in the movies and have no one hear. They are still pretty loud on most cals.
@Knightsarmamentlover Well... that Depends On The Gun and silencer. A .22 with a 5inx2in one, wont even wake you up if it's shot int he same room your sleepin' in. But, a 30-06, yea, You'd still hear that a mile away.
They are all called suppressors. There is no such thing as a "silencer". Technology hasnt allowed us to have a completely silent weapon. Care to try again?
@Transporter1022 silencer=suppressor... first silencer ever made was called the maxim silencer and the ATF uses the terms interchangeably so stop being a turd on youtube unless you know what you are talking about
Could you guys make a better longer video on these. I couldn't really tell much about them. It was hard to hear with all the other shooting going on in that short amount of time.
Cool vid, man!! I'd love to see a slightly more extended video with maybe half a magazine (or more) of rounds fired through each can. It would also be awesome if there wasn't any background noise with lots of other people firing their guns. Of course that might just not be a possibility for you which is totally understandable. But I'm considering buying the Surefire Mini and really want to see (and hear) more of it before making the expensive commitment.
@GunWebsites Roger that, good to go! I definitely won't be buying one anytime soon though, because I just bought a Knight's Armament QDSS-NT4 5.56mm suppressor, as well as a Silencerco Sparrow .22 can (sending off the Form 4s next week)... so I've gotta wait awhile before buying another silencer :)
i like how short it is.

good lookin gun. "magpulled out" haha. what mine looks like now.

Did you measure peak SPL? If SF would warranty that thing, the mini would be great for sub12" ARs.
Could you imagine a 7.5 AR and a 3 inch can? I could live with -24dB.
One day...

When are you going to do a video of the TAR-21 (TAVOR) ?
Best regards

@93yoyo360 It would have to be imported here or produced first. You can't get any Tavor variants in the States.

You go shoot next to someone with a 10.5-11.5" sbr with a triple tap all day and then let me know if there's a point for 5.56 cans.

I dont see the point in having a suppressor that only reduces the sound slightly. Your either heard or your not, there is no in between.

We deff will, this was just a quick trip to the range (first day after the stamp) we will do much more with this cool little can for sure
For now I'd say go for the mini, hardly any difference sound wise from it's big brother
