@Ughmic A stock 87 GT has around 240hp....I bought my friends ,he put around 6k into it (not all in the engine) and it only has about 360-380hp .....but it will still outrun Camaros and 90's model vettes....Hell i beat a V8 Camaro with an exhaust in my moms 4cl Ford Escort GT (its stock) .....That tells you something about a camaro ....they're unreliable and slow
@MrMustangFan87 an 87 gt had 225hp (crank) and an 87 iroc had the same 225hp (crank) it's all about personal preference. Mustangs and camaros are both inexpesive if you go bolt-on route. Any car is expensive when you go internal and it really doesn't matter what it is. Refer yourself to the '99 mustang against the (if I'm not mistaken) to the '99 camaro z28. Camaro burns it in every category but sales. It's about what people prefer. And the mustang is like a honda because its cheap as you stated

You my be able to convince someone who doesn't know alot about the two but i do and Physics is Physics lighter weight, better distribution , better aero wins It will take atleast 60 horse more to hang with a vette and still with that much they will fall back at about 140.

I wouldnt touch Mustang before 2011 (which I have a 2011 Mustang GT), because Camaro's were just faster....Even an LS1 wasn't much behind a 05-10 GT! I've owned a 4th gen TA, 4th gen Z28, and the new 5.0....No question which of them is best, but I cant say anything negative about the 4th gen F-bodies...

And the LS1's werent beating "my" 05-10 stangs, I had a LS1 Z28 until the 11 stang came out so Im not claiming at anytime that the 05-10 stangs were beating the LS1 (although stock to stock I would say its a stretch to say a LS1 would beat a 2010 GT everytime)

@91battlered Weight advantages are huge, yes. But no it IS a stretch to say a stock LS1 Z28/TA would beat a stock 2010 GT EVERYTIME. The weight difference is 10 lbs between the cars, so that is not an advantage. Maybe you arent getting Im talking stock to stock....You can mod anything....I respect a fast car no matter what it is, but it doesnt change the fact that you can mod anything and if an engine fits you can put it in anything. @Punisher7121 Well my cousins worn out 95 lt1 pulled an 05 and 06 gt on the highway about 2 cars at 120 . Its an old 275 horse 3700 pound vs 10 year newer 303 horse car and it still can pull it not very much but it does. The mustangs are right behind him the whole time its a crazy race. No doubt the ls1 camaro's have always been faster than any 4.6 stang from the factory. And always had a 6 speed not a piddly 5 .
@luvscience44 The 95 LT1 is a little underrated in my opinion. I had a 95 LT1 in a TA, that engine had ridiculous torque! And it doesnt overly surprise me that a LT1 could pull a 05-06. 2008-2010 Ford made enough increases on the 4.6 that should have stopped an stockish LT1 from being able to pull on it. And if you check the performance and times, a stock LS1 isnt going to pull on a stock 2010 GT EVERY time...Sure I'd imagine the LS1 to win some if not most of them, but not everytime

Lets see...575hp Cobra weighing in at say 4000lbs with 2 passengers should approx 11.0's at 120 or so. 489hp Vette weighing in at 3650lbs with 2 passengers should run approx 11.4's at 116 or so. Something doesn't add up.
Judging by the way the Vette pulls 2-3 car lengths on the Cobra I'd say either the Cobra is running 100hp less, or the Vette is running 100hp more.
Also to compare a $50k "supercar" with probably $20k+ in mods to a $35k ponycar with "maybe" $10k in mods is goofy!
@XDragger It's called aerodynamics. Vettes with less HP will always be equal to or faster than a cobra, because they are bricks from a roll. Vettes have better gearing too. And BTW, a vette with 2 passengers is NOT almost 3700 lbs, I assure you that. Better be 2 fat ass passengers to add that much weight to a Z06. They come in around 3100 lbs without a driver. The average guy weighs around 170-180 so with 2 passengers thats around 3450.....not 3650.

Which brings up another point. Only running 112mph in the 1/4 at a tad under 3300lbs with 489hp is weak. Should be running low low 11's at over 120mph. Cobra should have ran him down midtrack with 575 rwhp! But let me guess, Ford sux, right?

@Punisher7121 Well my cousins worn out 95 lt1 pulled an 05 and 06 gt on the highway about 2 cars at 120 . Its an old 275 horse 3700 pound vs 10 year newer 303 horse car and it still can pull it not very much but it does. The mustangs are right behind him the whole time its a crazy race. No doubt the ls1 camaro's have always been faster than any 4.6 stang from the factory. And always had a 6 speed not a piddly 5 .

@luvscience44 The 95 LT1 is a little underrated in my opinion. I had a 95 LT1 in a TA, that engine had ridiculous torque! And it doesnt overly surprise me that a LT1 could pull a 05-06. 2008-2010 Ford made enough increases on the 4.6 that should have stopped an stockish LT1 from being able to pull on it. And if you check the performance and times, a stock LS1 isnt going to pull on a stock 2010 GT EVERY time...Sure I'd imagine the LS1 to win some if not most of them, but not everytime

@luvscience44 My previous posts were about that, the LS1 vs an 05-10 GT. Stock to stock an LS1 isn't going to beat an 08-10 GT EVERY time. Not a ton of videos of stock vs stock or stockish vs stockish, but as a expected most videos I could find have the LS1 winning....but there ARE some videos with the 05-10 GT winning. ONLY point i'm making is that the 05-10 GT vs LS1 stock doesnt lose every single time! I had a LS1 Z28 before my 2011 Mustang GT, so I know what the LS1 is capable of

Lets see...575hp Cobra weighing in at say 4000lbs with 2 passengers should approx 11.0's at 120 or so. 489hp Vette weighing in at 3650lbs with 2 passengers should run approx 11.4's at 116 or so. Something doesn't add up.
Judging by the way the Vette pulls 2-3 car lengths on the Cobra I'd say either the Cobra is running 100hp less, or the Vette is running 100hp more.
Also to compare a $50k "supercar" with probably $20k+ in mods to a $35k ponycar with "maybe" $10k in mods is goofy!

@XDragger It's called aerodynamics. Vettes with less HP will always be equal to or faster than a cobra, because they are bricks from a roll. Vettes have better gearing too. And BTW, a vette with 2 passengers is NOT almost 3700 lbs, I assure you that. Better be 2 fat ass passengers to add that much weight to a Z06. They come in around 3100 lbs without a driver. The average guy weighs around 170-180 so with 2 passengers thats around 3450.....not 3650.

@transamman305 Aero doesnt come into play at under say 120mph, and from a roll the difference is ZERO. I believe the '02 ZO6 weighed 3250-3350 from the factory, look it up. Cobra weighs over 3600, look it up. 100hp is 100hp regardless. Funny how the Fox body with 50 less hp smoked him by 3 car lengths
Don't need a lesson on vehicle dynamics, but you might! Post some vids from the track so we can see trap speeds, thats the true indicator!

@XDragger Well lets see...the first website I clicked on had the curb weight of a Z06 at 3118 and the coupe at almost 3300....so maybe it's YOU that need some lessons. And saying that aero has absolutely nothing to do with a car at under 120 mph is rediculous. So your saying a full size truck with equal HP to a streamlined car thats the same weight will be dead even? I don't think so.

@transamman305 All else being equal, yes practically dead even. Drag doesnt come into play until the vehicle hits 100-120mph. From a roll at 40-60mph aero has ZERO effect. My bad on the weight. Z06 is lighter than reg Vette, got me there.
Which brings up another point. Only running 112mph in the 1/4 at a tad under 3300lbs with 489hp is weak. Should be running low low 11's at over 120mph. Cobra should have ran him down midtrack with 575 rwhp! But let me guess, Ford sux, right?

@XDragger Hey man I've owned a 2008 shelby GT stang and a 2000 Firehawk and am swapping an LSx into an 86 TA currently. I've owned the best of both worlds and have no complaints on ford or chevy. The Z06 is a bad ass car though and an excellent platform and theres no arguing that. The 1/4 time and mph is weak but hey, he did say he had a bad tranny in the vid. IDK what else would explain the crap time. Oh and ford sucks! ;)

@NightGod07 Just bolt ons? The cobra is trippling the airflow going into the motor. It doesn't matter how it's done, but dramtically increasing the airflow of an engine his a huge mod. Also, that cobra is damn near 20 psi. i would ghost ride my motor off of a bridge if i had that much boost on any v8 and wasn't atleast running 9.0's. That "itty bitty" 281 runs like a v6.
