I first heard this piece a couple of nights ago. I had this amazing indescribable blissful happy feeling that I get at intervals in my life hearing a song for the first time. Getting the feeling is the reason why I play music.
i love this song, especially the menuet and the ballet. i play viola and right now our orchestra is playing this song and were going to Tennesse,US. to perform. but we just arent able to play the (basically scales) part in the begging. i know theyre different arrangements bc were just strings. it starts off at the cellos, then to violas then to 2nd violins. if you have any tips on how to perfect this part, please let me know.
Thank you for your comment to our student orchestra.
Every rehearsal, our conductor gave a lecture on Paul Verlaine(19c. French poetry). Because, his aesthetic sense of poetry was projected on to Claude Debussy, the same as 'Clair de Lune'.
Conductor's personal interpretation has a great influence on to play instruments. Our conductor H. Shimizu said Debussy's song is "a wisp of wist". Basically, play without music from memory and then take note of your conductor, please.
Good recording.
