@iShowYouGamesAndTech Your headphone port acts as a line in port as well. Just make sure you configure that setting in Sounds under System Preferences. Yes the small holes are original. Y-spliters are needed if you want to connect your console to another TV while recording on your Mac. Yes you can use any S-video cable.

For tips on cables:

I purchased a S-Video cable. I hooked it up to my easycap's S-Video port then hooked the audio (red/white) cables to a 3.5mm->RCA cable which was connected to my MacBook's LINE-IN port.

That's pretty much it.

hey man, nice video. If you used screen recording while playing games, how does it pick up the in-game sound then? can you set the audio to 'USB device/easycap'? Just got my easycap yesterday and realized that 10min of gameplay was 700mb...what were your file sizes like for a similar duration? A reply will be much appreciated as I would really like to get some decent vids with smaller file sizes!

Hey guys, just responding to a few comments I've read:

-If you're seeing a blackscreen, make sure everything is connected. USB, audio, video, everything! If all else fails, restart your Mac and your Xbox and then plug back everything one by one.

-For PAL/NTSC issues. Make sure you know what Region your xbox is in so you can chose the appropirate video format. PAL users: make sure to play around with the PAL setting on the Xbox Display Settings.

-Leopard users. For recording use Screenflow

@PwnersDuo Yes I still need some help please. so i have the settings as pal weave and compos 1. This gives me the best picture for new zealand. but i dont get any sound. If i change any of the settings the picture quatily changes and still no sound. what am i doing wrong.

@caperschef Hey, well you see those settings are just for the video. Pal weave and composite are a good setup for New Zealand. Despite this, EasyCap has bad RCA inputs (the white and red plugs). To get sound all you need to do is get an "RCA splitter". So you plug your White and Red cables from your ps3/xbox into the splitter, that is connected to an audio jack in your computer. Then you configure your device sound to input! Please if you have any more questions, ask me, I was confused too :)

Dude by watching your other videos with the easy cap all you got to pretty much do is higher the frame rate because it seems a little laggy. Other than that great idea with recording off a screen recording program like quick time.

@Meutainer Microphones? Yup you can if the Mac has a built in 'Line In' port. Usually the Mac sets it up automatically, but if you need to just to go Audio Options in the System Preferences.

@PlsPlayDota Thanks for the kind words. Did you make sure to select the 'Composite' input under iEasyCap viewer? Also, for the PS3, if you usually use HDMI for the main video connection, it doesn't switch automatically. To force it, turn it off and then when powering it on, hold down the power button till the console beeps twice.
