But The Showdown say they are not Christian but they write songs on similar lessons of the Bible. And Slayer, they write music to scare people. Said by Kerry King himself. @Iscream4Jesus1 First, all they definitely believe Christ rose from the dead, considering I was catholic for some time, and also considering we celebrate Easter, WHICH CELEBRATES THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST. The belief in purgatory is irrelevant, as that has nothing to do with the way we practice our faith besides baptism, which only occurs at birth or induction into the church. Also, yes we confess to our priests, but that is also symbolic to admitting to god how e sinned.

this is not metal, this is hard rock. basically, rock is made up of blues progressions and melodies, where as metal is classical and baroque chord and note progressions.

They changed their sound went heavy the brothers left the band. The Showdown's first album "A Chorus of Obliteration" is epic and a must hear for any real metal fan. written from old testament scriptures.

I don't think this is blasphemy, but it's not transmitting a strong Christian message either. All the song talks about is how the guy is overwhelmed by temptation. it's a message of defeat, not victory. Otherwise, it's a catchy sludge metal song.

We, as Christians, need to question our own theology, not to disprove it, but to know exactly WHY we believe it, and how God's word does or doesn't back it. If we truly picked apart our beliefs through the lens of the Bible, we would weed out bad theology and strengthen good theology.

To all those who claim christian metal is full of hypocrites... Paul wrote, "I am all things to all men." And that's what we as christians are to be. ALL things. To ALL men. That means we aren't to shy away from those who listen to metal. We should accomodate them. Music has a way of spreading a message to the ears of those who aren't willing to listen.
So spreading a positive message through metal to those who won't listen can bring those to Christ who would otherwise spit in his face.

@thebutcherxxx, I completely agree with you. one of my friends and his brother played with these guys when they were a punk band called 2540. They changed their sound went heavy the brothers left the band. The Showdown's first album "A Chorus of Obliteration" is epic and a must hear for any real metal fan. written from old testament scriptures.

Man, am I ever tired of people claiming this and that about metal. #1 if don't agree with Christians listening to/ playing/writing (doing a better job than most secular bands I might add) just don't listen to them. #2 Someone here says that headbanging originated with the pagans... I don't think this is blasphemy, but it's not transmitting a strong Christian message either. All the song talks about is how the guy is overwhelmed by temptation. it's a message of defeat, not victory. Otherwise, it's a catchy sludge metal song.

We believe that "Church" is not a building, but it's the body of Christ. (All us :D) Religion will always get in the way of relationship. We, as Christians, need to question our own theology, not to disprove it, but to know exactly WHY we believe it, and how God's word does or doesn't back it. If we truly picked apart our beliefs through the lens of the Bible, we would weed out bad theology and strengthen good theology.

@Theheavymetalscott with all due respect man, I'm an Atheist too, but there are christian influences in their music, a band doesn't have to write a song about how great god is to make them christian, try reading through some of their lyrics, something might pop up as a bit religiously linked, most christian rock/metal bands don't seem like it on the surface sheerly because of the genre
besides, any christian who can make a guitar squeal like that is a good christian in my books haha

To all those who claim christian metal is full of hypocrites... Paul wrote, "I am all things to all men." And that's what we as christians are to be. ALL things. To ALL men. That means we aren't to shy away from those who listen to metal. We should accomodate them. Music has a way of spreading a message to the ears of those who aren't willing to listen.
So spreading a positive message through metal to those who won't listen can bring those to Christ who would otherwise spit in his face.

If Satan wanted to convert mass amounts of people he would use things that are generally held as acceptable and "pleasant", not fucking heavy metal. Christians who think that its sensible that the devil is after them through under ground art forms are just looking for something to bitch about.

James has a bit of a country twang in his voice, and if I remember right, The singer is from somewhere in or around Tennessee. So, quit complaining. It's just a hint of accent. Go listen to a different song if you don't like this one. Cause nobody watching this video cares about your opinion.
