  • holy crap! someone's trying to do something useful and the only thing people can do is criticize about the nails. worthless comments

  • cut YOUR DAM NAILS

  • great work dude!!

  • What direction does the crank pulley spins if im looking from the wheels? Also how hard do i tighten the timing belt?

  • How do you work on cars with girly nails like that?

  • @TheF86Sabre

There must be a lot of people with ADD surfing Youtube.

  • @frylockthefryman What does that have to do with your "GIRLY NAILS"?

  • @TheF86Sabre

You have such a hard time focusing on the topic of the video that your mind drifts off, your eyes wonder and you mention the first thing you see that you think is comical. This video has nothing to do with me, this is a How to video about engine maintenance. Not only is your attempt at comedy pathetic but the fact that you post your comment a few days after someone else said the same thing is just plain sorry. You are a fine example of how human society is losing intelligence.

  • @frylockthefryman You're communicating with your hand throughout the video, and it's impossible not to notice your nails. Not only is this embarrassing for you, but it leads to trolling as seen in the comments. On behalf of the YouTube community, we strongly urge you to consider trimming prior to any upcoming videos.

    Thanks,

It doesn't embarrass me to be honest. The things I don't like is how comments like that waste my time and use up comment space. As long as the video isn't focused on me and it is helpful to people I really don't care about my appearance in it.

  • @TheF86Sabre SERIOUSLY!!!! This guy is helping people with his videos and all you can do is knock his fingernails.

Frylockthefryman: great job, thank you for your videos.

  • @Jonathanjaygrant I asked a question.

  • CUT YOU NAILS

  • @hondaslave By a dab, I mean put some silicon ( A dab ), six places ? or more? (High temp, usually gray in color) in the groove of the WP, put the O-ring on.....it is just to keep it in place...the O-ring kinda wants to pop out of place...& if it does while you turn it away from you... you won't see it come out of place. Practice locating it perfectly before-hand, you don't want to be sliding it to & fro trying to locate the holes, ....thats how the O-ring can roll out of the groove.

  • Okay, I think I see why I was confused. There is a cranshaft TIMING pully, which is different than the crankshaft pully itself. The marks that need to be lined up are on the cam pully and the crankshaft timing pully, not on the crankshaft pully itself. Am I right?

  • @sitkafisherman

On this vehicle the timing mark for the crank shaft is on the timing belt gear which is behind the crank shaft pulley. The camshaft mark is on the camshaft timing belt gear. Also the crankshaft pulley key shouldn't come out but if it does you just have to place it back in the crankshaft(you'll probably have to carefully tap it in with a hammer)and slightly tilt the key towards you so the key won't catch on the pulley and fall out when you put the pulley back on.

  • @frylockthefryman man you never know when you buy somethin you might need those nails to open it if you dont have a knife DUH

  • I have two concerns regarding putting the timing belt on. After you pull the crankshaft pully off, how do you get it back on so it's lined up correctly? Do BOTH the cam pully and the crankshaft pully have to be lined up with a mark? The other concern is putting the key back in correctly. The manual isn't very clear regarding how to put the key in. Could you explain how? Thank you so much

  • Yes, no oil!, use gray anti-seize...very little. I've done zillions of these...a dab of gray silicone on the corners of the 'O' ring of the W/P...to keep it in place. As you turn the pump...the o -ring away from you & drop it down into place, the O-ring can pop out of place...even slightly....& you wind up with a leak & you have to tear it all down again.

  • @RichardEllisxyz when you say a dab of silicon on o-ring, do you mean under the o-ring, or just on top to keep it in place.......let me know thanks

  • anti seize.. not oil on the bolt threads. also cut your nails!

  • @billabongopblue

Anti-seize is the best stuff to use but engine oil works also. Just need something to keep the moisture out.

  • @billabongopblue Let him discover the hard way by not trimming his nails when he slips on a wrench and tears a nail off halfway or to the cuticle.

  • Great videos man. I have a D series that's leaking from the drivers side so I think I'll be doing this soon =)

  • @mylifeisJDM

    Thanks and good luck!

  • you should have replace the tensioner as well, part of preventive maintenance

  • @wangbungal

Yes that's one thing I should have done but didn't. That has bothered me ever since I installed the parts and I plan on removing the tensioner and replacing the bearings in it.

  • 2hrs looks more like it took u 2 days!

  • good job

  • @zeddtbear

    Thanks

  • Nice Video! Very well thought out and the narration was very clear and loud. All around good job on it bro. Please make more.

  • @jtp0711

Thank you for the support, I plan to keep making videos for a long time

  • you sound high bro wake up man

  • @dregsta

I think you would sound exhausted too if you worked all day on a timing belt job with a stubborn crank pulley bolt.

  • @frylockthefryman LMAO good job bro

  • @frylockthefryman

get the hammerhead by ingersol rand

  • i have the same car :)

  • clockwise ? no turning it clockwise could cause you to jump a tooth everything is ccw . If it's in your book then it's a miss print or like reidreality said recheck the book

  • @hobieslug45

I edited the video with a note about that mistake now. It didn't seem right to me when I first read it but I didn't think there would be an error like that in the original service manual. Well the error in the video is corrected now.

  • @frylockthefryman sometimes I find some pretty silly mistakes in manuals . and we're talking shop manuals dealerships use.

  • @hobieslug45

I edited the video with a note about that mistake now. It didn't seem right to me when I first read it but I didn't think there would be an error like that in the original service manual. Well the error in the video is corrected now.

  • my manual says counterclockwise...... its counter- next line clockwise so read it again

  • @reidreality

This is a direct quote from my 92-95 Honda Civic Factory Issued service manual:

"5. Rotate the crankshaft about 4 or 6 turns clockwise so that the belt may fit in position on the pulleys."

It may be a typo but that's exactly what it says and I've never seen typing errors in this book.

  • cool video my friend i change my timing belt and water pump on my honda accord and it went well thanks berry much ..............for your video im happy i did it with your help

  • @ruizmcjrnetzero

Thank you, glad I could help!

  • WHERE ARE timing points ,,,, This is good videos but YOU are missing the MAIN thing , Timing POINTS

  • @aviomaster

I show the timing marks at 6:52 on the first video.

  • whats the the nails

  • was it swap? if so wat u said to advance cuz i gotta replace mines. cuz i dont kno wat to say to them. and how much was the belt and pump. thanks. and i subscribe u

  • @chirby17

Yes it's a swap.My car is a DX so it originally came with a non vtec engine.

I first tried to get the water pump at the local auto parts store and they gave me a non vtec water pump(you can see it in the video, that's why I had to wait til the next day to buy the right one) and it was too long so it didn't fit. Then I told them I have a imported engine and they said the water pump would be hard to find and all this.

So I went to advance and got a Civic ex water pump(D16Z6) and it fit.

  • @chirby17

Timing belt was around $30 and a rebuilt water pump is around $30 but Advance didn't have any rebuilt ones in stock so I paid $70 for a brand new one.

Thanks for the subscription and I hope your timing belt/water pump replacement goes well.

  • what kind of water pump u use? a d16z6? like whered u bought the water pump?

  • @chirby17

Yes I used a D16Z6 water pump and timing belt.

I bought the water pump from advance auto parts and bought the timing belt at a local auto parts store.

  • D16z6 AKA Sohc Vtec

  • @ufc916

My engine is a D15B jdm vtec.

It's an engine imported from japan, the D16Z6 is the usdm vtec engine.

  • when i start my car when i turn my key the engine spins but doesnt catch. what is causing this?

  • @gwnek111

What do you mean when you say catch?

  • yeah about the clockwise spin, that is strange, the haynes manual said do not spin clockwise only counter clockwise or it could mess up the timing (i don't see how but that's what it said haha)

  • @HondaHowTo1

I was using a timing belt replacement book as a reference and I noticed it didn't mention it but since the factory service manual said to do it I figured it would be best to listen to Honda's manual.Probably not necessary though.
