  • @Voidiria I believe it's Tsidii Le Loka, she was the original Rafiki for the London cast.

  • @Voidiria Ooops, sorry, actually she was the original Broadway Rafiki. The original London Rafiki was Josette Bushell-Mingo.

  • I saw this a couple weeks ago in Toronto . It was the most incredible experience I've ever had. Such an amazing experience. I felt 5 years old again.

  • I think I would get annoyed with people clapping all the time.

  • @lovecats778 It dose put me off a bit when im on stage.

  • 6 no king ...

  • This show is quite the most spectacular, breathtaking thing I've ever seen! It is incredible! The costumes are astounding..your eyes knows you're looking at people, but your mind sees animals! I literally sat on the edge of my seat, totally spellbound. If you get the opportunity to see this, ever, please do go! Amazing. Thank you for posting this.

  • amazing!

this always sends chills down my back!

  • I saw this with my high school a long time ago and my mum had always wanted to see it so I pulled a few strings and spoke to some teachers, and they allowed her to come as a 'supervising parent'. :) She nearly cried when I told her the news.

  • i like rafiki's voice

  • I've never seen a show like this in my life,,, i really loved it when i saw it :)

  • how i would love to see this :((

  • this was awesome! but rafiki kinda looks scary lol

  • @jasmined799 omg no way SHES MY FAAAV CHARACTER!

  • @jasmined799 I think it's the overlong fingers, lol. But I think she has one of the coolest appearances in the show, all shamanistic and mystical, it's awesome.

  • Why is it that I tear up when I see this? It's so beautiful. Especially when you are there, and the animals walk past you in the aisle...

  • @Jenckles Believe me when i first saw it i was freaking crying my eyes out by the time Rafiki sung the first note, and that elephant is really huge up close i was like "How did that get through the door?"

  • So beautiful to listen to, I love it <3

  • EPIC! Period.

  • i love this show

  • this mustve taken such a long time to reherse....

  • What bullshit when the uploading thinks we want to look at his comment bubbles.....post a video...leave it alone. Great video, why feel the need to spoil it with a comment?

  • @damnheat2005 gosh, u can press the red comment button and comment bubbles wont show. just cool it

  • @rdj9606 Thats very true. Maybe i was reliving the opening scene.

  • @damnheat2005 um ?

  • @rdj9606 eh

  • i can wach this over and over again and it will never get old

  • It's good but I don't particularly like the Rafiki of this show. Most of the other ones are much better.

  • this is amazing but i still dont understand how it makes me sob like a baby...

  • I remember seeing this when I was alot younger. Tbh, I don't remember all of it, but I do remember that the actors/actresses who played the various puppets really brought life to them. Even though you could clearly tell they were controlling the puppets, they always had expression on their face and movement. it was so beautiful. I would reccomend everyone to see it. It's not just a kids show.

  • This makes me so over emotional :']

  • I can't stop getting chills! This is purely amazing! Reminds me so much of my childhood

  • Anybody know of any up coming theatre shows of this??? I really want to go see it in person becuz it looks so amazing and by watching all the YouTube vids the actors are very talented :)

  • @divamama110 The show is going to be in Toronto from April - June if that helps? And it IS amazing, the most beautifully choreographed broadway show I've ever seen!

  • i remember seeing a commercial for this on my lion king VHS in the late 90's :D it was in my childhood of course...

  • it is pretty fucking amazing isn't it?

@howie381 all the musicians can play it half asleep.. they've all been doing it for like.. 13 years now! :)

  • i cant amagen all the pratice it had to take to get this right with the puppets and the lighting the backdrops and the singing it self lol but i love this movie and the song is great on theatre i think it was a good idea to put it on theatre

  • this is great

  • Nice!!

  • Gives me goosebumps every single time I see it. No words to describe how amazing it is. Yes, I did use amazing, but it was an understatement.

  • Ha I get to see this show in May, it'll be my 3rd time

  • This is the best musical I've ever seen! *_* simply fantastic. I saw it twice. And eache time i cried. :') I wanna see it AGAIN! :D

  • This is the best musical I've ever seen! *_* simply fantastic. I saw it twice. And eache time i cried. :') I wanna see it AGAIN! :D

  • 정망 최고네요

  • Just over four years I went to see this when I was pregnant with my daughter, throughout the performance she kept dancing through all the songs she liked and i promised she could see it as soon as she turned four ( the minimum age). This year we'll be seeing it at the end of May, I can't believe how fast the times gone, i've been looking forward to this for years.

  • how sick would it have been if they used a real lion cub just for this opening scene!

  • does anyone know if you can buy this somewhere? on tape, i mean.. or even better, watch it online? if you know, please, please answer! i've been looking for it for so goddam long, but i can't find it anywhere.. and i really want to see it with this cast!

  • BradleyKeithThomas my msn in profile! The Lion King on the Royal Vararity Show, Broadway

  • i cried my eyes out, it was so overwelming. brilliant, i would recomend it to anyone, its better live x

  • south african flavour omy omy !!!!

  • i really love those animal costumes

  • comment ne peut-on pas aimer... c'est tellement majestueux, magnifique !

  • Kinda hate to be picky... but if it's the London Cast at the Royal Variety... WTF has Broadway got to do with it??

  • @enticott4 It was prob just a mistake from the person who posted it, i got confused as well

  • Oh yeah, seeing this show is what we did on our one year anniversary. On the way, dressed to the teeth, we blew a tire. A very good friend came and changed it for us and we made it in time. We had balcony seats. My favorite parts of the show, though they just can't be taken out of context, were Rafiki and the drummers!

  • I've seen very few musicals: Rent, The Lion King, Les Miserables. This was my favorite.

  • my best friend is kenyan, when we went to see this together she cried through the whole show, when i asked her why, she said because it made her homesick, awww bless :) x

  • gives me chills everytime

  • i swear i never get tired of seeing this!<3

  • @33ily33 me neither

its amazing - brings a tear to my eye

  • @33ily33 Totally agree!!!!!! This play never gets old!!!!!!!!!!

  • ohh i cant wait till they come to The Schuster Center in Dayton Ohio 2011 jan - jul disney musiclas.com

  • I actually did some research. They appear to be singing in mixes of Swahili, Zulu and Xhosa. The last one is pronounced either Khosah, or *tongue click*osa. Depends on if you can do the click. It's mainly in Xhosa.

  • @InsaneCabbit92 i have frinds in ths show and there are some great clips of them doing the click singing on youtube, just look for west end christmas lion king they are amazing and there is also a clip of the girl who plays shenzi the female hyena she is on here singing as suzy snowflake also at west end christmas

  • @garrychelsea Cool.

  • there are no words... i can't even... i don't...

    oh my god. mind blown.

  • @beautifullytragic1 there are actually a lot of word there are just in a different langue but i get you it is amazing! when i saw it i knew everything that was going to happen but i still gasped and clapped and shouted. Amazing truly a work of art so much more than just lions

  • @themusicalfan

Lol I meant no words to describe it.

  • @beautifullytragic1

    I know what you mean.

I went to see it on a school trip to London.

I'm not a very emotional person. but i very nearly cried.

It is amazing to see, and i hope to see it again.

  • I have seen Beauty and The Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, In The Heights, 1001 Arabian Nights, Cirque De Soliel, Cats, but Lion King is the best theatre experience you will ever have!!!

  • Any-one know anywhere in Australia where I can Audition for this?

  • Comment removed

  • the rafiki is Josette Bushell Mingo

  • i hope they do a lion king 2 version

  • @eatenxinside

    me too

and if they do I want to audition for Kiara

  • @billyizkool it's a south African language called Zulu.

  • @billyizkool

    That's south African language, Zulu.

  • What language is it that opens the show? "Nats ingonoyma, bagathi tsi baba" or something like that... PLEASE HELP ME ON WHAT LANGUAGE THAT IS.

  • @billyizkool baba means baby

  • The least they could've done is teach her how to pronounce the words correctly considering how many South Africans live in London. She opens the show for crying out loud. SMH.

  • fantastic!!!

  • Am I right in saying the woman playing Rafiki is still in the show? I went and saw the show in June and I swear that it was the same woman. Could be wrong, but it sounds and looks a bit like her, even under all that make up. lol

Either way, doesn't matter too much. All that matters to me is how bloody amazing this show was. Really want to see it again asap!

  • @kittykat8905 i watched it today, and i'm pretty certain it's still the same woman.

  • @kittykat8905 i feel the same way

  • Do you have any more scenes from the Lion King in London?

  • beautiful musical

  • such an amazing musical...

  • they messed one part up..... They needed the light that shined On Simba..

  • @Animefan4evaandeva It dont have to be just like the movie.. In fact the broadway version is better.

  • @rdj9606 I know im just picky

  • this is a good show because this was the last show my grandma saw before she died of als she just liked this show so much. they did did a good job

  • lindo e emocionante

  • I'd like to see it on Broadway.

  • @jackiehallam62 yes you do, it is unbelievable :)

  • who are the 4 people that didn't like this.

  • @joe691020 Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers

  • @videosearcherwhenbor HAHAH lmfao i accidentally disliked this other vid of the same thing i felt so bad :(

  • @joe691020 I dunno but who the fuck cares

  • I cried during this. One of the reasons were that I've been traveling to New York twice (i live in denmark), and both of the times has me and my family tried to get tickets but both of the times, they've been completely sold out. missed the chance twice. second reason is cause it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Oh look. 4 people accidentally pushed thumbs down. This Rafiki is magical. :D
