  • Sorry about your wait. Yeah, until they start putting $1 menu on board, it will be like that. How about three McDoubles for $3.27, fast food filler fodder.

Actually the lounge car is back seasonally, during the worst of the cold Chicago continues the Texas Eagle equipment down to New Orleans so they don't have to clean it. In winter the train gets pretty nasty but usually NOL does a good job of making it spiffy again.

  • Wait in line half an hour to get a microwaved cheeseburger and some potato chips and a can of beer all for $10. It sucks but what can you do? Tough all over :-(

  • What? No Sightseeing Car? They Stop Using Them On That Route?

  • Yes, Amtrak quit using the diner, lounge car, dropoped one locomotive, the baggage car, one of the sleepers, and one of the coaches several years ago in one of their cost savings moves. The "ccc" car now is a combo diner-lounge that was made from a converted diner. It is pretty much inadequate to handle the load on a crowded train, and of course there is no where to sit other than in your coach seat or sleeper room.

  • The reason why i said that because i took this train from New Orleans back in "98" when they had everything (including Movies on board). Wow! I did'nt know that. So i imagine that the dinner trays are from the "Microwave" (LOL!). That sucks.

  • I really like it when the engineer waves.

  • what city and state?
