Thy say they keep pigeons away and they don't have caustic poop like the pigeons that eats away at the statues in central park and such so some areas are just letting the populations be for the time being.
i need help . i have two parakeets (lil kim & say say) i had them for almost 2 years n they are still scared of me .i tried puttin my hand n there in lettin them out the cage ,i even talk to them n they still scared how come afte so long they are still scared of me or anyone for that matter ?? what can i do to get more friendly parakeets ?
@blah2daworld23 For some people it is easier to tame parakeets than others. I have had birds for years, but since I have cats, I have never been in a position to tame them.
However what I do know is that it takes patience. My suggestion would be that every day at the same time of day offer them a spray of millet. Hold it in your hand for a reasonably long time. Don't move toward them, let them come toward you. Also check out other web sites for more information.
@blah2daworld23 sorry to hear about your birds. are they ok otherwise?
like any creature, a bird will protect its home/nest. it may be that your birds are just being protective. if that is the case, what you need to do is to coax them out of the cage, where they may be friendlier to you. the way to do that is to offer them their favorite treats and let them come to you. if you keep trying to go in to them, where they feel you are invading their space, you will continue to be unwelcome.
