  • Awesome!

  • I have viewed and shared this several times since it was published and am still

appreciative of the professionals involved in this activity !

  • riders on the storm!

  • I would love to fly with them.....

  • I worked in the prop shop for 22 years(before the J's) and the damage can be irreparable. The prior solid aluminum blades would actually delaminate at the grain boundaries from the the rain impact and electrolisis. The new blades are composite, don't know how well they hold up. Great video, thanks Travis W. and Eric D.

  • I'd love to ride through a storm with them!

  • I saw this at the Govenor's Hurricane Conference. Those of us in Emergency Management highly appreciate the job these men and women do. Thank You!

  • Also, those lightning pics of the eye of Felix were assisted by lightning (easily observable), making for some very good pics.

  • Lightning typically happens in storms rapidly intensifying. This was near peak intensity - at this point the winds were 175 mph.

  • You know that one run through Felix had to be canceled due to too much hail and turbulence. It's something I've never heard about for a hurricane. I didn't even know hurricanes had hail, but with the intensity and height of the eyewall storms, it wouldn't be hard to imagine and thus accept.

  • That was the run before this one. It was because they were afraid the plane may have been damaged by the graupel. Fortunately, there was no damage, but it is good to take precautions especially with such an intense storm.

  • What i wonder is how do the propellers not get damaged hitting hail that is flying around at 175mph.
