  • I am a big Montreal fan, But Fotiu in his prime was the all time fighting genius. The most natural fighter to ever play the game. Few players challenged Fotiu, even Behn Wilson was rumoured to be chicken shit of Fotiu.

  • @teapartycanada1

Fotiu beat Wilson decisively in their one fight. It was Dave Schultz that wrote in his book that he was too scared to fight Fotiu and never came near him on the ice.

  • CLEAR WIN Fotiu i meant!"! handled well Nilan here.

  • I sold nick a phone yesterday!! East Brnswick Square Mall, NJ!! T-Mobile

  • When Fotiu came to Calgary in '86, it did just as much to legitimize Calgary's attempt to compete with the Oilers as Fletcher's one-sided trades for Joe Mullen and the legendary John "Today-Tonight" Tonelli, or the mid-season call-up of Mike Vernon (who summarily stoned the Moscow Dynamo in an amazing exhibition game and summarily started and won an OT decision against the Canucks to end an 11 game losing streak - Pepper ftw). Fotiu was brought in to scare the Oilers and it worked pretty well.

  • Fotiu was not overated. He had wins over a lot of tough guys.(wilson, holmgren, coxe, hunter, nilan, schoenfeld ect.) he never got destroyed in a fight. Most of his losses were close decisions.

  • @trackman94 you are right, he wasnt very active fighter but won most of the time, he got Holmgrens numbers beating him 3x and one draw with him, beating with impressive way master fighter Behn Wilson!!!!, destroying T.Hunter, winning Nilan, Schoenfeld, and never got an ass kicking by no one fighter. Got bloodied by Paterson but Paterson landed a lot of shit punches in that fight.

  • @MrJuha82 You mention Paterson beating Fotiu but that was long after his prime. Everybody gets beat in their last years.

  • you are right twist was real tough.with those roundhouse punches though, kocur would hurt him badly.kocur broke bones.

  • Fotiu was not overrated at all.

  • 1.Probert

    2.Brown

    3.Wilson

    4.Brashear

    5.Twist

    6.Kocur

    7.Laraque

    8.McSorley

    9.Playfair

    10.McCarthy...

  • @MrJuha82 kocur has to be rated higher.at least higher than twist.

  • @reg5381 But Twist was great fighter, beating many opponents(Probert few times, beating Laus decisively and Ray too, winning Nilan, Van Dorp, Janssens, fightnign a draw against McCarthy, winning Chase, Peluso, Stojanov, Antoski etch...beating them all clearly...beating McKenzie 3x although McKenzie dropped him twice but winning the serie either.

And Mckenzie is Top11-15 figther all the time, so tough guy.

  • @reg5381 ALso Twist won Laraque who is pretty pretty tough man!

Twist had good serie with Berube, both fights were draws.

  • @MrJuha82

    1. Ogie Oglethorp

    2. Reggie Leach

  • @TheTTBT lol....

  • @MrJuha82 - Wilson doesn't belong on this list. Wensink was better and Johnathan was much better. Fotiu makes the top ten for sure.

  • @whoibuoy Fotius rank is 15.

    He had good shows mostly.

  • T%oo funny Wilson hands down top 3 in NHL history. Nicky overrrated..

  • Damn near gotta be half insane to fight Fotiu!

  • Behn was still standing no problem. I seen Nicky get smoked plenty of times...

  • @tedfio1tedfio1 That is funny, because Wilson top 3 in NHL history best fighter ever. Nicky overrated...

  • You forget to mention how Behn Wilson was searching for the officials after getting popped by Fotiu. "Glancing blow" my ass....Nick bitch slapped that punk.

  • Fotiu was a legend in fightning, he was like master fighter who had always good control over his opponent and had good stamina and punchign ability.

In this small tilt he controlled the things beating tough guy Nilan NARROWLY.

  • Clark Gillis!!!

  • You have obviously proved my observations to be true.Like the old adage"It takes one to know one"

    GO HABS GO !!!

  • Where are thew Habs going? Absolutely no where. Just a collection of Euros and smurfs. You enjoy Ott, you asshole.

  • @BostonGarden ahhh ur funny

  • I'm an asshole? Hmm.Not sure if I'm an asshole or not.I do know that only an asshole could identify another one.

  • I'm sure Ott. You ARE an asshole.

  • I don't know why everyone thinks that Fotiu was such a great fighter.I don't think he was a great fighter at all.He hung on a lot, waiting for the refs to come in.Watch his fight vids and you'll see what I mean

  • @tedfio1tedfio1

He did not knock Wilson down, come on. He landed glancing blow and backed up Behn. Wilson top 3 all time.

  • @jperez1910 i heard wilson had to get refitted for a helmet after fotiu punched his pussy ass!

  • Behn Wilson was a dirty pig of a player too ..

BTW - Nick Fotiu beat his and Paul Holmgrens ass real good.

  • Fotiu was a tough dude.rarely lost and

even got the better of Behn Wilson once,

and BW may have been the best back then.

  • Bafaz -- you claim that 'nobody wanted a piece of Holmgren' -- ARE YOU SERIOUS? Check out his fights with Terry O'Reilly. Holmgren hit him after the whistle and O'Reilly gave the dirty prick a vicious beating. In fact, I don't believe Holmgren EVER won a fight against a Bruin. If I'm wrong, please tell me WHO he beat!

But my favorite Holmgren scrap is when Carlson beat him like a rented mule. Face facts, dude -- Holmgren couldn't fight!!

  • dempsey00, you might not like holmgren but to say he cant fight is beyond insane. the guy could fight and he hit like a damn freight train and intimidated other players! He beat other NHL heavyweights and he could play score (scored over 30 goals in a yr) and again he hit people.. That fight against Carlson is later in his career. Yes he lost the fight but he was physically done (Had a bad shoulder - thats why Philly traded him) - he was past his prime. Homlgren was a GOOD-MEAN hockey player!

  • BTW, Fotiu kicked Holmgrens not once but twice..assmunch!

  • yo bafaz, sorry bro u have no clue.first off fotiu beat holmgren 95 percent of the time along with beating everyone else.also he is a former nyc boxer,so is is in noo way a hugger, always throws down with his fists.sorry bro but that is a fact.

  • put down the crack pipe stupid!

  • Are you dropping acid, bafaz?

  • you are not supposed to dring the bong water you fucking assmunch!

  • Hey guys you can't take him seriously. Do a channel view...his only favorite video is "Susan Boyle" singing on Britains version of American Idol

  • Fotiu a wanna be? sounds like your a wanna be............Fotiu was the man. He destroyed Holmgren and Behn Wilson. Also one of the few tough guys(besides Gillies and Nystrom) that didn't wear a helmet, huge disadvantage.

  • dtrrose -- fotiu make 30 secondes of back skating and he did not destroy the Big Behn wilson only lucky with the last punches

  • watch wilson and fotiu or holmgren and fotiu, see how he just holds on as he pummels their asses!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You do realise that Fotiu was a boxer before he even started in the NHL?

  • never mind the fight, always loved Jim Gordon the Rangers announcer

  • Rangers lose? What, the game? Nicky wins the wrestling match.

  • Rangers lose.

    Not suprised.

  • "nilan, one of the bigger meaner men in the league..."

what?? nilan was 5'11, weighed about 200 pounds. these announcers must have confused him with the leafs' gary nylund (6'4, 220) who at the time was one of the biggest and meanest in the league.

  • Jim Gordon and Phil Esposito at the mic(s)

  • F him up Nicky!

  • yeah

  • yep

  • Original Six?
