My family was turned off of the show after the episode that had a skit. It said, Susan has 5 cookies, She is very happy. Imbobua has no cookies, he is very sad. Susan give imbobua 3 of your cookies. Look how happy you made Imbobua. Hell Why give him three? give him so much that we have less than half of what we earned. Hey Imbobua, Go make some of your own damn cookies and stop moochin off of ours. Just another way to make kids want to spread the wealth i guess, HA!
I must admit that I like Elmo because he has kept the show fresh today. And it is especially wonderful for me to know that Big Bird is still as loved as he was at the start. To me, Elmo is the heart of Sesame Street, but Big Bird is the soul. And that goes in terms of their character/personality.
It's interesting how Big Bird's role in the series has changed over time. Essentially he went from being the child audience's surrogate to the "older brother" figure for newer surrogates (like Elmo) when the audience started getting younger.
Happy Birthday Sesame Street!!! This was my favorite show when I was a kid. When it started in 1969 I was 3 years old and loved it all the way through elementary school. Hope there are many more years of shows to entertain and educate kids. I learned so much from this show.
I heard the original theme song today and got the biggest smile on my face. I felt like a young child again. I couldn't help myself.
Congratulations, Mr. Spinney and of course Big Bird and Oscar and all those on Sesame Street, you're awesome!!! Thank you for helping our children grow!
Congratulations to everyone ever involved with the production of SS, I have been a fan since I saw the first episode in 1969 as a nine year old, I love it today as a 49year old as much as I did then, too many of become serious adults, glad that hasn't happened to me.
Happy 40 years Sesame Street and good luck for 40 more. I and millions of others grew up watching Sesame Street and its amazing Carol Spinney has been there doing Sesame Street for so long. I really hope that they find someone to replace Elmo when the puppeteer Kevin Cash eventually retires along with Carol Spinney.
I grew up with this show and ELECTRIC cO. They really do educate.. Congrats on reaching 40... Keep it up. I love the count and cookie monster... and bert and ernie.. the grouch.. big bird, the elephant.. i guess i luv them all...
I never liked Sesame Street growing up. I loved the muppets though, same family tree. However, I watch it all the time now with my 20 month old. He loves Elmo and Abby but knows them all. It is still so well done.
Go Sesame Street!
