  • This is easily my favorite Mario game and there are NUMEROUS great hacks of this rom. I would go as far as to say that this one is better than SMB3 as well.

  • I think my copy of smw got to where files would get erased for some strange reason

  • It has 76 levels if you count Yoshi's House and Top Secret area otherwise 74 which is still a lot but that is not all gameplay is extended even more with a whopping 96 goals with quite a few being hidden and you have to explore to find them which is worth it because it unlocks secret levels for you to play. Nothing more to say. This is one of the best Mario platform games ever made and if you never played this I feel sorry for you.

  • @r4rev Nice :D

  • claymates ? review? i broke hella shit playin thaT GAME!!!

  • there are 85 levels i beat this game and hell i still play it

  • Hey SNESman, what do you think of New Super Mario Bros Wii? I know this review was made before that game came out, but do you like it better or worse than SMW?

  • @SuperXD25 I liked New SMB Wii a lot. Very fun. But I don't think it can hold a candle to SMB 1, 3, or World.

  • @SNESMan16 Okey. I can't tell, sine I've never played the old Mario games (I know, sad). I might get it on VC though :)

  • Alright Snes Man, I hope you're ready for some constructive criticism.

    1. Your theme song sounds like "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns 'N Roses. Whether or not this was intentional, your song needs some serious work. I almost closed the video as a result of it. It's annoying as all hell.

    2. Your reviews are good but please stop trying to be funny. All of your "gag" scenes only remind me of AVGN and make me wish I was watching him instead.

    Overall, you get 6.5/10

  • @benkrivera Have you seen my newer reviews? I think I improved on both your points.

  • @SNESMan16

Haha i think the song is kick ass!

  • @SNESMan16 I've read some kinda dull and negative comments on your reviews, and I think they're envious gamers who want to make cool reviews like you, but they can't. I must say your theme song is stuck inside my head just as the Mario World theme is, and sometimes I can't stop laughing with your jokes, like your fights with Simba and the MK tree (16 bit-16%$&#), and the episode about that Ljn Spider Man/X-Men game (the Cyclops kick hahahaha). All memorable moments I will never forget XD.

  • @lesassassins Thanks for your support, man. It means a lot. I must admit that the comments on my old videos like on this video have valid concerns (My production and reviewing skills weren't up to par) but I'm glad that people like you still kept watching. I'm glad you remembered so many of those moments. :D

  • @benkrivera stop hating man.. his reviews are fine! KEEP GOING SNESMan!

  • @hanseykemmerer I'm not hating on the guy, I see potential and I just wanted to give some tips. I prefer to point out the things that I didn't like about the video as opposed to saying "Oh yeah, this game is awesome!"

  • @benkrivera screw you man. he does a good job

  • @benkrivera fuck u u little cunt

  • favorite mario game ever even though i grew up with the gba version

  • 96 levels it says on the cartrege

  • Favorite game of my childhood. Great review :D

  • 2:02 basshunter anyone? P:

  • you forgot to mention that every song in the game is a remix of that one theme (kinda hard to write out, but I'm sure you know what I mean, and if you listen close, you'll notice that that same theme is in every single level).

  • @SSBMaster11 Hm, you're right that most of the songs are a remix of the main theme but they still did a great job at keeping it varied in style!

  • spin jump is very usefull because with it you can jump on spike enemies and not die,you will bounce of it,also you can use spin jump for destroying the yellow shells that follow you and that cant be destroyed by jumping on them.Altough the spin jump is more usefull in the super mario world hacks, than in the original game xD

  • Awesome reviews!!

if you want a really challenging mario world.. check the hacks out there...

unfortunately, they're only avilable as Roms for emolators..

and as i'm watching here.. you don't like emulators hahah

    awesome review!!

PD: The spin jump, even if it doesn't make you jump as high as you wish... it makes you invulnerable to certain enviromental levels.. as the "Jumpling lava" and the plants that come out from time to time

  • OK video. forget your camera cutscenes and the crappy trance music (what the hell, man?) and you'll be there, honestly.

  • @naaaaaagz What better montage music than upbeat cheesiness?

  • @SNESMan16 something more vgmusic-y? :)

  • @naaaaaagz Yeah, you have a point. I have used remixed video game tracks in some videos. They fit the mood pretty well.

  • You think this game is easy!? This game is friggin' hard! Especialy trying to get those secret levels.

  • @noodnic Compared to SMB 3 and the harder Mario games it's not that tough. The secret levels are still a challenge, though.

  • did you get some influence from avgn?

  • @xFIRERUSHx Yes, I won't deny that I share many traits with James and he is an influence. Still, I started this show before I had ever seen an Angry Video Game Nerd episode.

  • that guy is so wierd and is looking too much of angry video games.

  • one imrovemnt i would like in the game would be getting rid of that annoying forest level

  • wow, this intro starts to get annoying....

  • hmmmm ...... u seem like a weed smoker?

  • @9nxt No, I'm not. The weird expressions I make are the faces of lunacy.

  • @SNESMan16 ohhhhhh thanks for the facts :)

  • god i hate people who pronounce snes like that, it's s-n-e-s.

  • @ihatebobsaget1989 I am fully aware that SNES is an abbreviation of Super Nintendo Entertainment System and that it is NOT pronounced "sness" but the alternate pronunciation is a character trademark. How would I make a song where I say "S-N-E-S Man?" You don't have to be insulting, I'm not here just to anger you. I make these videos for fun.

  • @ihatebobsaget1989 - i dont hate them but when i first saw that snes i already pronounced it s-n-e-s. but yea, it gets annoying. actualy i didnt know what snes ment @ first

  • u should of done the multiplayer aspect

  • ue opinon about the spin jump just shows u dont know how to utilize it, just cause you dont use it doesnt mean its not useful, with it u can jump off yoshi and us it to jump off of ghosts and saws and many enemys that would normally kill mario

  • u just spoiled the whole shit for me

  • Which song? The intro song is the Snes Man Theme and the level montage is All I Ever Wanted by Basshunter.

  • @SNESMan16 hey eijri wr qr

  • 00:7 r u drunk??

  • It does look like that in the video, I agree. Of course Snes Man would never sink as low as alcohol, however. Snes Man's honor is upheld!!!

  • on my gba copy i unlocked 100%, just bought the snes version

  • I'd have to say you can't go wrong with the console version. The graphics and sound are way better.

  • dude, i feel ill.....too much shit food. Good review tho

  • This game was awesome and no doubt about it, but the only things that are bad are the difficulty, in which it is way too easy half the time (thank god there's lunar magic) and the boss fights were lame, sort of. Also, the cape breaks mostly everything.

The special worlds were the only real challenge along with World 7's fortress (along with getting there the first time, oh god). I don't remember anything else that I struggled with in SMW...

  • A great Mario game, but nowhere near 3 or even the first.

  • That's debateable. Super Mario Bros 1 and 3 were some of the best in the series but I believe this one is pretty close to their greatness. The amount and quality of levels, the power ups, the perfecting of older entries in the series, it was just incredible.

  • The flat boring drawn out levels, the taking out fun power ups, the shit level design half the time, the little variety in worlds, a map overview that sucked and gave no options, and being rushed (Miyamoto himself admitted the game was not as good as he'd hoped and said SNES games would get better)

  • I disagree: all of those points except losing map screen options. Boring, poorly planned levels? No. Any level from was undeniably creative and different. SMB3 had many levels that were ten second long run-to-the-end missions. Mario world lost some powerups but they wouldn't have fit well in aerial or secret based gameplay as well. Yoshi and the cape were also awesome entries to the series. SMW is easily in the ranks of the original trilogy.

  • Almost all of the levels look much more flat and boring than in 3. They look like they were flat and some guy was just putting blocks in some places and sprinkled some enemies. 3 had unique design and was interesting

They were never ten second long run to the end missions. The levels were perfect length instead of being drawn out and boring.

Yoshi was clunky and pretty much useless. The cape was the same as the racoonsuit in 3 except not as cool looking and you could skip entire levels with it

  • SMB3 had great levels but SMW had great levels, too. The special world levels are FAR from flat and boring (if you've even played them, you should know) and they were well planned and made, like the lava cave level and its slower pace and atmosphere, the level with blocks surrounding things that you could switch back into coins but released enemies too, the levels with multiple paths, the amazing special world levels. Speaking of skipping levels, the P-Wing and Cloud could UTTERLY skip levels.

  • Which were limited use items. You only get them at certain times and they were very scarce.

Also 5 good levels doesn't compensate the bore and bad design of the rest of the game.

  • I thought the best one was Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels. It was nice and hard!

  • @themoaspecial Lost Levels is very hard! I only just beat it a month ago but I must say that it is still quite fun.

  • We need more 2d marios! I think struttering graig from screwattack said it best: "I want to see super mario bros 3 2 turbo hyper championship edition"

  • you got it wrong he said that for new super mario bros and for super mario bros 3 he said that he would want new 2d mario game with the level designs like super mario bros 3 and with multiplayer

he got it because on nintendo's e3 09 they announced new super mario bros wii who will have all these features above and 4 players at the same time ability

    awesome isnt it

  • Well yeah, but i got it right with the "I want to see super mario bros 3 2 turbo hyper championship edition"

  • i freakin love this game i downloaded it on my wii and played it constantly untill i beat it... then i played it more and more and more its just so good. i think its the first game i ever played

  • Ahh, how I miss the day and age of good ol' 16 bit.

: Now even portables are 3d.

  • Too true. I miss the sidescrollers like this. New Super Mario Bros was a cool portable platformer though.

  • But it was too damn short. I want more. Yay for the NSMB Wii coming out.

  • This really was a great game, but I think I prefer yoshi's island to it. Still, nice review
