This song was a jam back in the day...I lived on the north side close to cabrini green and it was hot in 1969..Waller High School....it just didn't get the right on air play...I use to listen to Richard Pegue on sat night...WOOOOW where did the time go..
Wow, thanks for having my FAVORITE SONG in your collection. I truly embrace this particular record. My cousins "Little Ben and The Cheers" did an awesome job (I feel) when they sung this song. Whenever I go out and there is a D.J. on the scene, I always ask them to play this oldie for me. And believe it or not many of them do have it in their collection of OLDIES!
@BNorfleet23456 One of my favorites too. Just one of those records that needed a little push out of the mid-west, and it could have been huge. An unsung Classic!
Hello 2 all the dustie lovers out there...this song was the shit back in the day...it was a jam...Richard Pegue ...RIP...he use 2 do his thing every sat. night...he is missed dearly...does anyone know where I can find a copy of this song...or where I can download it...it is up there with some of the best from the late 60's...that is music was really music...
spot on fatrun6,brilliant talented black soul music at its best + it deserves to be trully recognised in musics history, its not just pop,its a spiritual feeling i believe + i'm a british white working class guy !,we call it "northern soul" here, because most clubs that play soul are in the north ! its still a big scene and we love obscure soul tracks,at least that way the artists tunes get appreachiated,be good pete
yes indeed, richard pegue will be missed. singer, composer, dj, promoter, producer, well i suppose he is the definitive 'record man'. what a legacy he leaves. may he rest in peace, and there be comfort for his family in knowing his was a life well lived, and he touched so many others. pookie
This is just one of the greatest songs and groups from yesterday. Chi town and of course other towns has so much history from the real "old school" that it is unreal", so we really can't let it die. Thanxs for posting this song I have been looking for this for a while. I crave for these memories because they do not make songs/music like this anymore. I live in the chi and ,I am seeking to see that this type of history continues and will inform you when it happens.
I'm so glad this song was posted. It's one of my favorite. My sister use to play it all the time. I fell in love with it. Thanks so very much. It brought back a lot of memories
you're welcome. i love this song, just a wonderful chicago soul sound. i would love for them to see this. hope they are pleased with how i presented it. thanks for responding, you made my day.
Great song! My Mom and Aunt went to school (Carver) and grew up in the same neighborhood with the Norfleet Family...
Altgeld Gardens projects on the South Side of Chicago is where I was also born and raised. I hear that the Chi-Lites used to hang out and sing in our hood too!
oh my god! you're making me feel old. thanks for checking this out. you can tell your grandpap he still has fans in pittsburgh, the uk, and he and his brothers were great. and thank him for me for the great music. watch out! i have a couple more 'cheers' to post up.
great to hear that. i've heard "little ben' norfleet was a hell of a lead singer. based only by his records i would say so. stay tuned, i've got two more cheers records i love that i will get around to posting. thanks for watching!
