Thank you for posting this informative video. Please post as many as you can. My mother, grandmother and many older family members loved this man and his music.
thanks, nice to see someone put up some stuff about Louis Jordan. Considering the list of people that cite him as an influence, It's amazing there is not more?
White falcon you can add Lionel Hampton to this short but distinguished list as well they paved the way for all rock artists who came along in the 50's
Yes catfish he's from a town named Brinley,Arkansas his birthday was July 8th 1908 and the date of his unfortunate death was Feb 4th 1975 a statue was created in his honor and he's got a website created for him as well.
He certainly was. We're talking about R&B as in the offshoot of Jazz and Blues, the grandfather of what it has become now. Louis Jordan's influence in that arena was immense and the title more than well deserved.
he's kind of like a musician and stand up comedian in one, some of his lyrics are soo funny.

Jerry Lee Lewis said that Louis Jordan was the only showman he would want to preform with if he could work forever!

Chuck Berry cites him as a major influence. Not sure about "father of R&B" though.
