I wonder what happend to the soldiers of chinese origin who served in the Royal Hong Kong regiment?Were they dismissed after the hand over or integrated into the chinese PLA?

Yes, that may be, however, as there wasn't exactly a conflict between the pla and the British army, the term 'retreat' shouldn't be used.

@lungkk Unlikely cos our PM is still too friendly with China, just needing the Chinese for trade and economics so there will be no action cos Britain need relationship with China very badly so Cameron said!!!!

Britain also had not enough army to support taking over HK cos we are too busy on Middle East affairs like in Afghanistan.

Chinese government promised to uphold their sovereignty using the PLA over HK and have plans to safeguard HK from foreign attacks.
