They seemed 2 have more energy in Memphis after being in jcp awhile they got lethargic. I hated these 2. I always thought the fantastics shoulda came 2 jcp n got the shot. I wanted 2 c the warriors beat the absolute shit outta Morton n Gibson but Crockett was 2 scared 2 make the match
Rock & Roll Express and the Midnight Rockers fueded for a couple of months in 1988 in Memphis. Shawn and Marty were the heels. You tube has some stuff from that fued. I only read about it in the Apter mags at the time, but it was an obvious fued people wanted to see much like the Road Warriors and Demos.
I wish there had been more to the Lawler/Dundee vs. "Blonde Bommers" Lathum/Ferris fued (see Tupelo Concession Stand). The team disolved not long after this, and that was a shame. Also, a longer run of Phil Hickerson/Dennis Condry would have made the area tag teams better, but Hickerson messed his hip and leg up and left for a few years. Basically, if you were a tag team in Memphis during these years, you had to be good, or a jobber.
Open question: Based on Tag team angles from the past or present, is there a better feud/angle than the R&R Express/Midnight Express? It covered more teritories than I know existed, they made each other better as a team, and they may still be doing old timers events today. I think both should rank among the best teams of all times. P.S.: another great post GShea.
I agree. As well, I thought the Fabs and Moondogs had some great matches. They seemed to bring out the best in each other. The Fabs were a bit "soft" in the eyes of some people and those matches helped them shed that image while The Moondogs were able to generate more heat with the Fabs than any other team I saw them face.
You forgot about the current Holly/Rhodes vs Carlito/Santino feud. It blows everything else away... Just kidding,I totally agree. Too bad we never got a Rock n Roll Express/Midnight Rockers feud or match. Rockers were a huge Express rip off, but it still woulda been cool. By the way GShea, great videos. I remember taping this when I was a kid. GOD BLESS MEMPHIS WRESTLING! NONE BETTER!
I hope every time the R&R Express go to a different indy promotion, the promotion plays this for their crowd a week before they arrive.

Actually, the Rock N Roll Express and the Midnight Rockers did battle in the CWA back in 1987 or 88 after the RNR Express left the NWA.
Just search with the Midnight Rockers in Memphis and you'd see clips of the RNR Express and the Midnight Rockers battle.
