The source code was updated for version WPF 3.5, where is native support for interactive 2D controls in 3D space.

MS didn't "rip" anything off. WPF and XAML have been around for years. XAML has been around a lot longer than XGL. Silverlight has much less of a learning curve than flash, and it uses traditional scripting languages rather than the very difficult to use actionscript. Silverlight also better integrates XML than flash does.

CLR languages are hardly scripting languages. ActionScript is no more "difficult" to use than any other modern OO language.
