  • 8 min to do a shower floor, you're a master ahhaha

  • Comment removed

  • what a complete stuff around .how about learning how to screed dipshit

  • @TheHowitis This guy made a "million" showers by a "screeding dipshit". Then he said: "enough is enough" and bought this tool.

  • @mun268 haha take is cheap isn't it....

    Pretty shnazzy indeed!

  • I got another question: I'm not always the one doing the plumbing...What if the drain is not level (Which is usually the case when a plumber was there before me). Will the clamping base still go on in a level position?

    Thanks again!:

    MZ-HANDYMAN

  • @phartattack Out of level drain has no affect on this tool. Device installed with a post level next to the pole.

So, knob is tighten up when pole is vertical. And vertical pole is the goal. Out of level drain can cry out loud

with no affect on anything. And when you've done, you can adjust surface of the mud to the level of a drain (if you want to.)

  • This is a bit off subject but I gotta ask because your mud looks like mine... What is your mix ratio? I use 3 parts sand one part portland cement with acrylic fortifier and water. I make it just wet enough to form a ball that stays round when I open my hand.

    MZ_HANDYMAN

  • @phartattack This guy used "Sand Toping" from Home Depot. It's pre-mixed portland and sand. And he told me that when he mixes portland and sand he uses proportion 1:4. And he tests mud the same way you've described.

  • This device is unique and can’t be replaced by any other tools or accessories, because when a shower pan surface has irregular shape, such as: hills, dips, steps, wrinkles or out of level surface. In real life, majority of shower pans have such a defect. But, this is not an obstacle for this tool. This device is not in contact with a shower pan surface throughout the entire process

  • i think by potential device he means a device u may use if u purchase it not that this device is in any sort of testing facility

  • @mun268 you need to make the screeding arm sliding (longer to shorter) so that it can be used right up to the wall. This would take out the trowel work your doing to remove the outsides. An option for the very short lenghts would be to have a 2nd short adjustable length. Is the angle of the bar easily adjustable?

  • I think this tool has some potential. Screeding a shower base is not a skill learnt over night. Tiling on a poorly screeded base is a c&#t. I think teaching a person to use this would be faster and the results would be more consistent. One purchase of the tool is much better then buying the expensive plastic, foam, fibreglass etc......sloping kits, everytime you build a base LOL.

I have a few ideas on how it could be improved, but it will cost ya ;)

  • @Stagtatstic Thank you for reasonable remark. So, how much your Idea cost? We pay by Yens, only.

  • @Stagtatstic When you asked about "angle of the bar", did you mean "angle of the screeding arm"?

  • @mun268 Yes, is it fixed at one angle? Or is it possible to adjust it to any desired or specified fall/pitch?

  • @Stagtatstic You do not need slope (angle) more or less than 1/4" per linear feet (determined by the code). If you make slope less than that, you are risking that your shower floor may hold the water. If you make slope more than 1/4", it's not going to look good and it's dangerous for those who are using your shower. "Slippery Slope" is exact definition in this case. This device has a slope close to 1/4". So, you do not need adjustments, unless you are looking for extra troubles.

  • @Stagtatstic This Idea already have been included into patent "package". But, I think implementation of this idea, could make device more expensive to manufacture, less convenient to use and maintain. And also, with this kind of "screeding arm", you still have to work with a perimeter at the end of process. So, it's not worth to spend extra money for manufacturing. Also, there are other problems will occure that would make product more expensive. At this moment of time, price is fair.

  • I think this tool has some potential. Screeding a shower base is not a skill learnt over night. Tiling on a crap base is a right C&#T.

  • its a cool tool i guess but there is still trowling to be done n how much does something like that run?? and the facts r that i can use a trowl very well.

  • @PERFECTION1150 You can not avoid "trowling", when you do mud work. This tool helps you to get job done easier, faster and perfectly. Annotation on video gives you a link to the web page, where you can find out "how much does it run??".

  • How do you get the perimeter of the mud pan to be level?

  • @TilemanSD With device installed correctly, you do not need to pay special attention to perimeter of the mud.

But, just in case, you can check perimeter by 2 or 4 feet level and make some minor corrections.

  • Ya, if you can do it by eye, all the props in the world to you. Doing hot mop, I don't need to be perfect on my slopes, just close, but I think tile setters can definately benefit from this tool. I'm just a dumb hot mopper so what do I know. Kudos

  • Do your shower floor mud work quick, easy, perfectly. Good for DIYers and Pros. Wide range of use and wide range of users. Easy to use and maintain, durable, long lasting and pays for itself quick. Buy it once and use it forever. DIYer can perform like a Pro. And Pro can save a lot of time and efforts with this tool.

  • @mun268 Perimeter screed and a wood darby works best. I don't see any time saved. Plus, no matter what size the pan the device seems to only pull about 40% actuall mud. Metal trowels will only wave the the drypack after a nice pull. There are no shortcuts! Save money, Fire your helper.

  • @mojo84th Watch "Shower Floor Mud VIDEO 2" and ...3, ...4. , where you can see much more than 40%. As far as, "you can not save time with this tool" - I doubt it. Have you ever used this tool, or seen somebody else did it? If you didn't, watch videos mentioned above.

  • Using this device, you're not creating the required 1/4" slope per foot. Beyond the created 'circle', the installer is making the perimeter of the shower the same level as the end of the tool. Thats not right.

  • @lan1870 First of all, this is not "ME". Secondly, how did you came up with this wild idea that "you're not creating the required 1/4" slope per foot" ?? Then, why do you think that "the installer is making the perimeter of the shower the same level as the end of a tool" ?? If you will be able to support your statement by a simple explanation, then we can discuss. OK?

  • Are you kidding me? A shower bed that small you can just do it by eye.

  • @MightyZarkon I guess, you are second guy (from more than 30,000 viewers) who think that I'm kidding. Can you stand up with something more serious? My congratulations to you that you have a good eye. Unfortunately, not everyone has eye like yours. Also, this video is not about "HOW TO MAKE SMALL SHOWER BED". This video about "HOW TO USE THIS TOOL" In the near future you'll have chance to see one more video "HOW TO USE THIS TOOL IN BIG SHOWER". Wondering can your mighty eye catch a big shower?

  • I hope you put a gravel guard on the bottom flange. Good idea by the way, hope it works out for you. Tony Stewart would be proud

  • @dsshowerpan To be honest with you, I've talked to this guy and he told me that he did not do it. But vewers have to know that they should do it.

  • Awesome ideea ... I need to know more about this , what can I do, where do I sign?

  • @SOFIAN1ERO you can go to website mentioned under this video, where you can find out more info. and purchase device. Or you can purchase at Amazon.com (search for "Shower Floor Mud Forming Device")

Also, you can post your questions on this page, if you want to.

  • Thanks for the quick response, I ve been to the page but my question has no answer there: What about the next step of the job? I see a kind of sand that you manage to arrange with this device but what happen next, do you need to put the mortar on top or you can place the tiles directly with the adezive? Thanks in advance. Marius, Romania

  • @SOFIAN1ERO First, you have to wait untill next day, so mud become strong. Then you install tile directly to the floor mud. Use thinset as an "adhesive". Spread thinset (or whatever tilemen using in Romania) with right size of trowel and install tile on top of this thinset. If you have more questions, I'll be glad to answer.

  • @SOFIAN1ERO Also, This guy (on video) using not just a sand, it's a sand mixed with portlad cement in proportion 1 : 4. 1 part of portland and 4 parts of a sand. You can mix it by yourself or purchase premixed stuff in bags. You have to add water to this substance, so it has a "semidry - semiwet" condition.

  • Ok, now i get it, Thank you so muck ... really usefull

  • Do your shower floor mud work quick, easy, perfectly. Good for DIYers and Pros. Wide range of use and wide range of users. • basicly it rounds the floor like a dish witch is only good for small tiles u wouldnt be able to lay big tiles without it lipping unless u packed all the tiles with would make it pointless screeding it.... understand?

  • @omie3046 As an "experienced" tile installer you might know that bigger tile you install, bigger size of nutch trowel you should use. If you use, for instance, 16" x 16" tile, you should use 1/2" nutch trowel to spread thinset. If you use right size of a notch trowel, "problem" you've described - does not exist . More than that, if you do your mud without this tool, I guarantee, you have to build up every tile (16" x16"). And big size of a trowel won't help. Have you ever used this tool ?

  • the shower base.. do u understand what im saying?

  • @omie3046 The only thing I don't understand:- What is your point against this tool ?

  • i dont know where your from i surpose everyone has there own ways but i would go level around the base and from each corner i would drop it 15 - 20 mm to the corner of the grate making the base into four flat sections.. and then lay the base and cut the tiles down the lines so you'll get 4 cuts from the corner of the base to the corner of the grate... 100mm by 100mm cause anything bigger u couldnt be able to lay without packing the whole base cause theres no flat sections the machine will round

  • @omie3046 Can somebody translate it to plain English? I'm in tile business for 15 years and never heard this kind of description of tiling a shower floor mud.

  • no good cause it dishes the shower base witch is only good for 100 by 100 or smaller.. otherwise it will lip like crazy... ive been tiling for many years and wouldnt waste me money on that thing

  • @omie3046 Dear Mr. omie: I have a questions for you: What does mean "dishes the shower base"? Also, why is it "only good for 100 by 100"? What is "100 by100"? What is "100",- inches, milimeters, meters? What is "lip like crazy"? What will "lip like crazy"? If you clerify those quotes for me, I may will get your point and then may have a chance to make respond to your comment. By the way, i've been tiling for many years also. I bought this tool several years ago and I happy to have this toy.

  • you need a float, heaps better than steel trowel

  • im confused what is this showing??? the tool??

  • @Sadie1307 Yep. I guess you've never seen this one before.

  • @mun268 lol nope! had no idea what i was watching lol

  • @Sadie1307 Sorry about that. One more similar video coming soon. Try one more time.

  • @Sadie1307 I guess, it looks like old man playing in sand box.

  • @Sadie1307 This is special and unique tool desighned to create perfect surface of the shower floor mud. Tilemen have to make this mud and next day he installs shower floor tile on top of it. It is important to make slope to a drain, so water does not collect in corners and does not damage the wall.As long as, not everybody has a good skillls to do this job, this tool allows people with average or low skills to achieve professional performance. High level professionals save their time & easier

  • @mun268 ohh well i was in the right place!! ^_^ was looking for an easy solution because what ever idiot built this house(here in puerto rico) made the floor higher on the opposite side of where the drain is -__-

  • I want one....

    John Whipple

Channel Drain / Linear Shower Drain installations Vancouver, BC

  • so i recently bought your tool and finally got to try it out and i have no complants about it. It worked really well. Ive been tiling for a long time and it made a perfect slope no waves at all good tool to have. and for the guy in the video you should get yourself a set of proknees or the custom building product knee pads they will save your life

  • @7dona7 I appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Easy to use and maintain, durable, long lasting and pays for itself quick. Buy it once and use it forever. DIYer can perform like a Pro. And Pro can save a lot of time and efforts with this tool.

  • its alright,..but there is still lots of hand trowling that has to be done. i can do it just as fast by hand, keep your stupid tool,. just means u aint got the hand skills.

  • @PERFECTION1150 So, how many "HAND TROWLING HAS TO BE DONE" without this tool? Also, when you use word "stupid" and do not support it by the facts, your comment may look "stupid". So, please share with us, what is "stupid" about this tool? I hope you will support it by the facts.

  • This is the easiest and fastest way to build a shower floor mud. Nobody proved opposide. You can try too. Baseless, emotional, "drive by" statements do not count.

  • you got to be kiding me,another tool that we dont need, just use laticrete 209 floor mud

  • @balta7777 Dear Mr. balta 7777, thank you for the most detalied and deep analisis of this tool. Where you've been before? We are not kiding with this tool. This tool is as serious as a heart attack. This is the only tool created for this purpose. It saves time tremendously for professionals. Also, low class pros. or DIYers can increase performance to the top level. By the way, "laticrete 209 floor mud" works with this tool great, also. So, can you tell something substantive about this tool?

  • is your perimeter level?

  • @happydaystile Yep.

  • Neat idea....though, I would have used a wood float and then the steel trowels....still...turned out pretty nice.

  • what is that type of cement called?

  • @jonesliza291 "Sand Topping Mix" (Home Depot). Good stuff.

Especially works good with this tool.

  • wAT HAPPENS IF THE FLOOR WASTE IS NOT PLUMB???

then ya stuffed with ya toy tool.

Im a professional tiler and dont need toys like that i use a spirit level and a float off tool and do it in the same time.

  • @74Andre Dear Mr. 74Andre. "FLOOR WASTE IS NOT PLUMB???" Not a problem. Device installed with a Pole in vertical position. Position of the drain does not matter. Also, long time ago, when "professional tilers" mixed thinset by a piece of trim, one of the "tilers" refused to use a new tool called a "DRILL". His argument was that, He can mix a thinset by a piece of trim "in the same time".

  • Dear Mr."dekonfrost7":

First of all, I appreciate your compliment. Seems to me you like this tool. As far as a "short bolt", you should not be worry about it. As long as you can use a post level the right way, everything will be fine. One more point. From now on, with this tool, any beginner can do mud work as good as any of the "Journeymen" can. And in some cases, even better.

  • @mun268 does home depot sell this tool?

  • @frankfarrugia1 The Home Depot does not sell it yet.

  • @mun268 Ok tks Mun. I would for sure buy this tool when it comes out to a Home Depot or Lowes here in Toronto Canada. I dont like using credit cards on the internet or send cheques to someone I dont know............No offence!!!!!

  • @frankfarrugia1 First of all, when you see this tool in Home Depot, It means that they bought it from us. Second, if you are afraid to send a check to us, and we are afraid to get a fraugulent check, how we can conduct business ?. Don't be afraid. Many of those who are not afraid, already have this tool. We owe the patent on this tool and we are making money the different way than you might think. If you are still not convinced, you can purchase device at Amazon. This is safe place to buy

  • On this video, tileman used "Sand Toping" from Home Depot. It's pre-mixed

portland and sand. Just mix it with water till it has semi dry condition.

  • Just wondering, what's the recipe for the deck mud you're using in this video?

  • Mr."tuffguy007", sorry for previous brief respond. This is more complete answer.

DIYers can handle it easy. Just follow surface created by the device and shave the rest of a floor mud off by the flat trowel. Pack down mud before using device. Before you start to work, drop small pieces of stones around a drain. Don't be affraid if you make mistakes when you shaping mud by a flat trowel. To work with mud it's almost like to work with a clay. You add or remove mud as many times as you need.

  • @mun268 Any idea where this tool can be bought

    tks Frank

  • This is a highly skilled trowel man. Wonder how good for a DIY person?

  • nice job.

  • Nice job

  • This job could be done in much shorter period of time, if only long flat trowel would be used to shave off mud. Video demonstrates that tilemen can use any sizes of flat trowels.
