If you are a cheapo and buy a $300 PC and expect it to run video editing and heavy gaming then you are delusional. you can get a PC that will last you 3 to 4 years running totally smoothly for $700-$800, and you can change the parts yourself, adding about 2 more years of functionality... I am not saying Macs suck, they are great, infact, however, for that price, you can get a PC that will outperform it, of course, if you don't mind leaving the fancy Mac look.
@AngryAngus3 I bought a Mac to work. But there is one or two game I wanted to play, I just installed windows on my mac then I can switch from mac to windows in about 1 min. I'm then able to play my games on windows and to work and surf on mac. It is the best of both worlds.

Let me clear some things up:
Raw hardware wise, most PCs are generally comparable. Intel or compatible chips all around, including Macintosh PCs. So, when it comes to the core of it, there is little an Apple-made PC can potentially do that most other PCs on the market cannot potentially do.
But OS X and "Mac" has NEVER been about raw hardware, so in the end its ridiculous to try and compare two different philosophies.
@Valthek 90% of the market is enterprise business workplace, where the cheaper alternative will always win. Macs are hardly fit for mass workstation deployment at their selling price, and rightfully are not marketed as such, but as "home" computers.

Windows computers are made for games. But the newer macs can run Windos XP or 7 and also run the heavier games.
I am a strong believer of playing games on a GAME console though.
I FOUND (opinion) that playing games on a PC or Mac is equally frustrating. The whole installation progress, the game compatibility , the patches, the crashes, etc. I could go on for days because I found that running games on a top of the line computer is hard work also.

PS: I don't know that about the MacBook Air, because I just have a MacBook. It got wet one day and when I turned it on, it freaked out and squeaked, then it worked. If they get wet, just don't worry. It'll work. Only problem.

Well, my LCD doesn't work on it, my liquid cooling doesn't work on it, overclocking doesn't work on it, and while yes, Macs can play games, with 1 physical button on the mouse you end up hitting the wrong button half the time anyway. As for automatic backups, you can find plenty of free software that does the same on a PC.
And let's not forget cost. A pc is roughly $3,000 cheaper then the Mac equivalent for the hardware. And you don't upgrade Macs.

automatic backups, great compatibility (except with my HP CLJ 1600!!!), lightweight, and with the MacBook Air, it can apparently fit into a vanilla envelope. I probably used some wrong terms because I am only 11.
PS: I don't know that about the MacBook Air, because I just have a MacBook. It got wet one day and when I turned it on, it freaked out and squeaked, then it worked. If they get wet, just don't worry. It'll work. Only problem.

@gavenusman Great compatibility... ok. Well, my LCD doesn't work on it, my liquid cooling doesn't work on it, overclocking doesn't work on it, and while yes, Macs can play games, with 1 physical button on the mouse you end up hitting the wrong button half the time anyway. As for automatic backups, you can find plenty of free software that does the same on a PC.
And let's not forget cost. A pc is roughly $3,000 cheaper then the Mac equivalent for the hardware. And you don't upgrade Macs.

I don't know about that, since I've been using computers since I was four, when my family had a Commodore Amiga. And, if I don't have a Mac genius handy, I'll get my uncle Matt to do it if I get a Dell Studio instead. Further replies will be ignored.

Dude. Nvidia GeForce graphics standard sounds perfect for games. It doesn't even take too long for something like Sims 3 to port to Mac. And you forgot Turing Chess and Oregon Trail, which started on Mac.

@InsaneIyGreat yeah haha i recently switched. I got microsoft home and student and it works great. it kinda sucks that you cant put your favorite games without doing that windows on mac thing. If you do get a mac, you can get steam which has tons of pc games made for mac

Hum. People buy pcs becuase they are so darn cheap! Macs are overpriced... It is just like wii vs ps3. even though the ps3 is the most sexiest toy around, people still buy the wii. You know why? becuase they are soo darn cheap that it is practically a bargain! People buy them for no apparent reason.
Now if macs can brings the price down I will surly buy it. But untill then It is just to darn expensive for me =(. Ps I love these commercials .

Thats ok, keep yourself uneducated underneath all of windows liscencing agreements/DRM/Genuine advantage crap, that allow them to patrol your life and tell you what you can and cant do with your PC or money. No need to tell you about an endless cycle of PC upgrades to feed the constant releases of bloatware within Vista, or windows updates that sometimes even screws up your PC forcing reinstalls.
