Love this song. The rock radio station I used to listen to played this all the time and I would crank it in my car and sing along. ahhhh the good old days, LOL
we are the last generation who could actually listen to awesome new music on fm radio. the mid 90's were the shit for rock n roll. don't let anybody tell u different.
@miamiwax I've been rocking since the 70's, and I totally agree that the 90's are and were the best. So much free-form, grunge, metal, alt, you name it. It was and is all good. I am not living in the past either, good is just, good.
@YourDailyMusicNotes Yes I do and I've gone in alot of places like FYE and Best Buy and there stuff is literally impossible to find, but I can honestly say that this album, "low" is probably only available on either iTunes or Ebay.
Professor Lowery! (well, Lecturer) read about that on 300 songs blog- just heard this live in Cambridge during Cramper MLK 2012- these guys are such the consummate professionals n so excellent at what they do- the venue was packed- sold out, i think- as it should be ne time these bands are sharing their talents live! just can't say enuff positive about the whole camper/cracker thing. so awesome that they continue to do their thing and make relevant and incredible records! Cramper 4 eva!
I miss the days growing up when mainstream music could be about drugs, scumbags and junkies. Now it's somehow devolved into puns about private jets, feeling like a black rapper when you wake up, and mindless droning about what day of the week it is...
thinking back, i would've liked to be around in the 80's as a teen, soundgarden, alice in chains, tad, skin yard, etc...then to lead into cracker, fastball, everclear, so on and so forth.. amazing
@gnrtop That really was a great decade for music! My son was a teen in the 80s (the 60s were my era) but I was truly impressed by what he was listening to! There were some amazing insights and emotions in those songs.
This is the 1993 hit that put their album Kerosene Hat on the charts and Cracker on the world stage of alternative music. As can be glimpsed in the black-and-white video, the album Kerosene Hat was recorded at a sound stage built in an old barn in Pioneertown, California. This is close to where lead singer David Lowery first met guitarist Johnny Hickman.
In the early 1990s I was in my late 20's, and I swear - there wasn't one thing on modern rock radio stations that wasn't great. This was one of those songs. For modern rock, early 1990s seems to be a reference point, sort of like early 1970s is to classic rock. It's a defining moment.
I am going to make the same complaint I have made before. How come I could not listen to Rockaway Beach on the way to the beach, why did I have come across a foreigner song? Why could I not hear Cracker, one of the best bands around, and instead have to hear some junk from a band like foreigner.
Just weird the way that the radio industry shot themselves in the foot by being so myopically tuned into cash machines. Aah, I guess only the independents saw where things were going.

@ri394 Actually, this song was never really mainstream. It mainly got played on alternative stations, and it still does to this day. I don't recall it ever being on Top 40 radio.
@ri394, I do agree, but to be honest, I'm a bit tired with people saying "once they gave us good music, and now we're being fed with crap". Because in the end of the day, it's us who choose who's gonna be the mainstream. Believe me, there's PLENTY of new great alternative music artists nowadays no one heard of, just because no one buys their music, everybody just downloads their ripped albums for free. Internet can be a great support for indie artists, but at the same time it can kill good music.
@divajulia I thought that was the point he was trying to get across! lol i was gonna ask in a comment but figured someone else MUST'VE depicted the whole metaphor already lol.

I have to admit I did not appreciate (at the time) many great 90's songs such as this. The following decade made me appreciate the 90's even more.
In the 90's (and in the preceding decades, save the disco crap era), the cream rose to the top.
In the 00's (and beyond), the drivel is forced to the top (by design).
Too bad no one will read this, Arbitrary "Isomolation" is very anti-democratic.
