The Pistols were manufactured, not exactly a punk thing is it? On the other hand, The Jam werent. And this track sounds nothing like the Pistols, Holiday in the Sun. Long live The Jam.
What most people don't realise is that most of the late seventies punk groups were influenced to some extent by the sixties groups. Even the Sex Pistols used to play covers of songs by the Small Faces and The Who when they were first starting out in 1975 and 76.
I'm an old fart now, and remember when this first came out - but you just know stuff like this, the Clash and the Buzzcocks etc. will just keep being revived. It really is quality and what punk/inide is really all about.
I feel sorry for kids these days - they are just fed vanilla crap.
Police accused of being fearful in tackling culprits over citys growing toll of racial assaults THE number of white victims of racist attacks in a Yorkshire city has risen 30 per cent in a year to more than 300 and police have been accused of being afraid to take on the culprits
I read an interview with Glen Matlock (ex- Sex Pistols bass guitarist) that Holidays In The Sun by the Sex Pistols was an obvious rip off from In The City by The Jam. In fact Matlock told the story of how Sid Vicious once taunted Weller in a club once about him nicking Wellers song. Vicious couldnt fight very well, and was consequently beaten up by Paul Weller.
Don't recall where I read the interview?
The bassline for Pretty Vacant was also pinched from Had Me A Real Good Time by The Faces
Sex Pistols suck. Their importance stops at influence. Their music is barely listenable. It doesn't take one getting into classic punk more than 3 minutes to realize that Never Mind the Bollocks is actually a bunch of Bollocks!!!!
@Mozzer232 totally agree mate. I'm a huge clash fan and i was recomended "never mind the bollocks". Bought it for about £3, and i see why. People who say theyre sex pistols fans in my opinion do so because they thinks its the "punk" thing to do.

Wow, if they made a band that comprised of the sex pistols covering songs by the Who, they would call it the jam

I think that's right, although I'm sure it was Bruce Foxton that beat the fuck out of Vicious.
