But for a flight to be diverted for repairs so that you can fly back on a broken plane is absurd. There's only 3 ways this could happen. 1. Continental put them back on the plane KNOWING there was a problem 2. The mechanics thought they fixed it-but they didn't test them 3. they did such a bad job repairing them that they immediately broke again!

i really don't mind the airline but I was grossed out when they rushed our plane and hardly cleaned it, the cabin was dirty no clean blankets of pillows. I understand the delay but i rather wait 10 or 15 mins longer to have a cleaner plane. One reason also why im only flying alaska airlines when i move may 15.
I think if this had happened to me, so soon after take off, then I would have risked being arrested on the ground by causing a so much of a nuisance of my self, that they would have to turn back.

I work for continental airlines and I was pretty embarrassed that this happened. However, I also get what goes on behind the scenes and if you're not a frequent flier who stays informed about the airlines industry than you likely are going to spout off no matter what I say. But it could just as easily happen on any other airline out there because when something isn't fixed its likely because of politics between the airline and the unions representing the already overpaid mechanics.

My point is that no matter what airline/plane you take you are always in the same danger as on any other plane/airline. All 757, 737, ect are all the same doesn't matter what airline they can always crash..Thats why we are humans..... btw, COA plane that crashed ATR, was do to ice....That plane sucks in ice there have been 100+ fatal crashes do to that plane's icing problem....and 200+ more problem (the pilots recovered the plane before crashng) That plane sucks....
there was a good incident where a plane had a fuel leak over the Atlantic. They glided that plane done onto a military runway but no power to slow them down. They tore up there landing gear and the gear caught fire but never snapped. Messed up the runway. Everyone survived. Pilot incompetence though and very lucky not to have gone into the dip.
Not really Airbus are more safer than all boeing models and i always flew jetblue i was on bored of the accident that jetblue had when the front nose gear retracted wrong and wasen't properly line so imagine that plane going down that runway and the nose gear didn't fail why because Airbus makes things more safer and research online that Airbus had alot less accidents in the history of the company Airbus than boeing boeing has accidents everywhere!

So Boeing basically has 2.5 times more planes in use than Airbus. However, in the past five years Airbus consisted of 13.8% of all accidents involving commercial aircraft while Boeing was at 25%... so Boeing has slightly less than twice as many accidents than Airbus with 2.5 times more planes. Hmmm, seems to me Boeing wins.
I've had my interesting times in the air two. Flight on final approach to Vegas aborted due to being brought in at too sharp a vector and close to another aircraft. Flew low over the strip and circled around. That one was interesting. United Express flight from Dulles to Roanake was flying in very turbulent weather like the plane wanted to do a 180 in flight. Landing sucked probably because of windy weather and that was a twin engine prop.

the AA crash you might be referring to had issues with the ground control. Ground control was talking them in manually because apparently one of their ground beacons (ILS) or something like that was sabotaged. It was miscommunication between ground control and the pilots which led to that crash. Correct me on that AA crash where necessary.

When Continental had me delayed in Minneapolis/St. Paul for 5 hrs. a few years back, I had to actually pull up their Contract of Carriage on my mobile and point out we were supposed to get a Cust. Service packet (total of $15 in airport food or airplane drinks & phone cards for 20 mins), and the Flight Attendants were trying to play dumb at first.. By the time we landed in Kansas City, folks were thanking me for pulling that out.. Better than nothing..

@pete5668 That would be reasonable if the toilets simply overflowed during one flight and they got to their destination without delays. But for a flight to be diverted for repairs so that you can fly back on a broken plane is absurd. There's only 3 ways this could happen. 1. Continental put them back on the plane KNOWING there was a problem 2. The mechanics thought they fixed it-but they didn't test them 3. they did such a bad job repairing them that they immediately broke again!

Some doosh put plastic gloves in the toilet which made it clog up and overflow. It was that one passanger(doosh) whoever it was. Continental is rated as one of the best in the industry passing American Airlines in customer satisfaction and safety by a long run. It also doesnt mean that it is a cheap airline. Ive been on American MD80s. They are old and literally falling apart. Now THAT is cheap! They dont have the $ to fix the MD80s or what?!? Nyway. Continental Airlines all the way!

That is standard procedure for a Concorde since it's design left it's fuel tanks and engines very susceptible to any foreign objects. i really don't mind the airline but I was grossed out when they rushed our plane and hardly cleaned it, the cabin was dirty no clean blankets of pillows. I understand the delay but i rather wait 10 or 15 mins longer to have a cleaner plane. One reason also why im only flying alaska airlines when i move may 15.

I work for continental airlines and I was pretty embarrassed that this happened. However, I also get what goes on behind the scenes and if you're not a frequent flier who stays informed about the airlines industry than you likely are going to spout off no matter what I say. But it could just as easily happen on any other airline out there because when something isn't fixed its likely because of politics between the airline and the unions representing the already overpaid mechanics.

Last time I checked AA crashed into a mountain....BECAUSE THEY GOT LOST! crashed in Cali, Colombia...Funny thing is that THE PILOTS FORGOT TO RETRACT THE SPEEDBRAKE so the plane didnt climb....and how the hell do you get lost with an FMC? My point is that no matter what airline/plane you take you are always in the same danger as on any other plane/airline. All 757, 737, ect are all the same doesn't matter what airline they can always crash..Thats why we are humans..... btw, COA plane that crashed ATR, was do to ice....That plane sucks in ice there have been 100+ fatal crashes do to that plane's icing problem....and 200+ more problem (the pilots recovered the plane before crashng) That plane sucks....

there was a good incident where a plane had a fuel leak over the Atlantic. They glided that plane done onto a military runway but no power to slow them down. They tore up there landing gear and the gear caught fire but never snapped. Messed up the runway. Everyone survived. Pilot incompetence though and very lucky not to have gone into the dip.

Not really Airbus are more safer than all boeing models and i always flew jetblue i was on bored of the accident that jetblue had when the front nose gear retracted wrong and wasen't properly line so imagine that plane going down that runway and the nose gear didn't fail why because Airbus makes things more safer and research online that Airbus had alot less accidents in the history of the company Airbus than boeing boeing has accidents everywhere!

@danielc365... according to the Aircraft Insurance Industry Database, Boeing consists of 25.6% of the entire world wide commercial aircraft in use while Airbus is at 9.6%. So Boeing basically has 2.5 times more planes in use than Airbus. However, in the past five years Airbus consisted of 13.8% of all accidents involving commercial aircraft while Boeing was at 25%... so Boeing has slightly less than twice as many accidents than Airbus with 2.5 times more planes. Hmmm, seems to me Boeing wins.

I've had my interesting times in the air two. Flight on final approach to Vegas aborted due to being brought in at too sharp a vector and close to another aircraft. Flew low over the strip and circled around. That one was interesting. United Express flight from Dulles to Roanake was flying in very turbulent weather like the plane wanted to do a 180 in flight. Landing sucked probably because of windy weather and that was a twin engine prop.

the AA crash you might be referring to had issues with the ground control. Ground control was talking them in manually because apparently one of their ground beacons (ILS) or something like that was sabotaged. It was miscommunication between ground control and the pilots which led to that crash. Correct me on that AA crash where necessary.

jetBlue or airJamaica. jetBlue has 1 plane that has made an emergency landing. landed safely. skillfully and beautifully. airJamaica has never had a crash nor emergency landing.

They are old and literally falling apart. Now THAT is cheap! They dont have the $ to fix the MD80s or what?!? The flight attendents were never nice on the AA flights i took. Continental has newer, more comfertable, and efficent aircraft, somthing AA has never heard of. (Or customer satisfaction either)

When Continental had me delayed in Minneapolis/St. Paul for 5 hrs. a few years back, I had to actually pull up their Contract of Carriage on my mobile and point out we were supposed to get a Cust. Service packet (total of $15 in airport food or airplane drinks & phone cards for 20 mins), and the Flight Attendants were trying to play dumb at first.. By the time we landed in Kansas City, folks were thanking me for pulling that out.. Better than nothing..

Nope, more like a person who gets hungry a lot. When I missed a flight, Continental booked me hotel for free and gave me some personal necessities. There is a meal on every flight. When I'm flying all day, it's nice to know that you'll actually be fed.

this entire toilet debacle was CAUSED by some ignoramus on the plane, and it diverted to Shannon, an airport with fewer resources than, say, Dublin. Could it have been handled differently? Possibly...maybe at greater inconvenience to the passengers.
