@robbie1490 You mistake me, I was not comparing the NSX to the F1. They are in 2 different leagues. I am just telling you that the BMW V12 engine was a 2nd choice engine. Don't get me wrong its a great engine but Murray wanted a Honda V10 or V12 engine. It would have been the fastest production car even with the Honda engine.

The guy who designed the Mclaren F1 drove an NSX as a daily car to remind him of what he wanted to achieve. An almost perfect blend of a usable, streetable car which is able to rip around a racetrack in exactly the same state it is in being a workhorse. NSX will always, be my favourite car. Nothing else in the world can change that...I don't care about ferrari's, porsches, any of that....NSX is for me.

@ljguy300 So if the NSX is a copy of Ferrari...What's Porsche? What's Lamborghini? What's Lotus? There is no other car that has come out of Japan that has been able to touch the NSX with comparable engine/drivetrain configurations. Even with a mere 280bhp it's able to compete with all of the above and come out on top depending on driver/track. Honda could have EASILY built a more ferocious motor but were held back by the "gentleman's agreement" which is now gone - hence the LFA, R35, new NSX...

@ithertzz which all now have very similar power to the exotics. The playing field back when the NSX was originally designed was all over the place. Honda took something small and made it do marvellous things. Sure it cost too much for the performance that people THOUGHT they were getting (ie; power or lack of it)...but in my eyes..it's all about the pedigree. To say it's a copy of Ferrari is ignorant. If Honda wanted to flat out demolish Ferrari it could have. Instead they made a 3L V6 rival it.

It's official, and that is the source where I heard that Gordan Murray drove the NSX as his inspiration for what he wanted the F1 to do. Obviously wanted it faster, more aggressive, more exclusive...but my point is that he wanted it to be DRIVABLE...like the NSX which is confirmed by many videos you can find right here on Youtube.

@ithertzz I completely agree with you, its just that they could have made a better car by making more power they could have had a complete package handling and power and everyday use, but they were so concerned with that agreement that they failed on one aspect. they tried to show that handling will get you around a track faster then power( which is tru in the case of the muscle car) I think it is a marvelous car just not complete thats why i love them with a lil more power.

@ljguy300 For a car designed in the early 90's...with only very superficial changes throughout the years in which the biggest was the change to a 3.2L V6.....a car that can still pull the Nurburgring in under 8mins IS pedigree and shows that what Honda set out to achieve was actually achieved. If they designed this car today..it would definitely have a different motor in it with more power, I won't doubt that.

They are simply more agile through the corners...and by corners I'm talking VERY twisty corners. I can keep up, but I can't overtake despite my car making in excess of 200rwkw.

If I was to be completely honest I'd go for any of the Porsche 997 911 series. When I talk about pedigree I'm arguing the point that Honda stuck to what they have done with their cars for years. They stick with an N/A motor, make it weigh as least as possible, reliable and very efficient...

@ljguy300 That seems to be Honda's philosophy...I could be wrong there. Normally in a car, if you change one thing...something else has to be sacrificed unless you change that. IE; more power...means more stress on the brakes and suspension (provided you want everything equal) so you change all of that. Then comfort will take the sacrifice.. It's all a big game of chess. As far as a factory car with it's limitations in place....the NSX is a masterpiece for doing what it can do. My 2c.
