i never heard this before and i thought i had heard all the old school because i grew up listening to my mother play it all the time but they are really good and just like the old school i got get this one too
Black women were so beautiful back then. And Black love was so full of hope even if it was just a sex thing. This music says it all. I'm glad I'm old and lived through this.
Almost heavenly sounding. Reminds me so much of the 70s ..... I'd just listen and listen to this at home. Great memories. But honestly one of the BEST girl groups around. If the emotions made it, they certainly should have. But there were a lot of personnel changes. Patti is still around. Really nice and cool. : )
thanx for the upload epitaphofdoom. i heard "how can i tell my mom and dad" at a party last nite. I looked it up on youtube and found like 7 GREAT tunes by the Lovelites. God Bless Us for loving the good old love songs and God Bless Youtube.
Luvin' it! I'd never heard this one before, I can't believe of their many Jamz we only hear "How Can I tell My Mom & Dad", love that one too but I'm just sayin'. Thank you....
Patty and the Lovelites came from Altgeld Gardens in Chicago. Don't you just love the Chicago Sound? They were so young and talented. Saw Patty today....she's moved away from this kind of singing but she is sill very nice, polished and is a lady.
@9876543217303 I always wonder about this era of music. If I had time and money I would go around interviewing artists from the golden age of soul and do a documentary. I know alot of Motown is documented but there are alot of great artists that some may not know about. btw I collect vinyl and just found with love from the lovelites album but it's at $249. Im going to keep looking but i might have to buy it (my soul craves it :)
@ferndog681 This is a lady and she still holds a job that I see her at from time to time. I always tell her that my sister and I have all her cuts and she appreciates it but has moved on from this type of music. She is so nice. We worked a job together years back but she left and I don't pry into people's lives but I'm sure there are links on her on the Internet. The Lovelites did have a lot of personnel changes too, which could have led to the group's disbandment.
They are from Chicago. They recorded on the Lock label, UNI & Cotillion records. Their highest charting record was "How Can I Tell My Mom & Dad", it reached #15 on Soul charts. Though one of the most talented "girl" groups of all times they did not have the commercial success their talent warranted.
Great post. I love the Lovelites. All thier song were about life, love, & things that really matter. These youngster could learn alot from listening to this great group.
This group, long-overlooked, long overdue.

Good copy. I think early work was by Curtis Mayfield and this record sounds like a Barry White production.
