I worked for best buy and was let go because of some supervisor who had it in for me. He assigned me a task to do, while I wasn't scheduled to work that day. Then write me up for not completing the said task. I agree. The ONLY thing that was worth it was the employee discount. Which I heard that they reduced and took a huge part of it away. Not the same as it was back in 06.

My spouse used to work for Best Buy about 10 years ago when he was going to grad school. He used to work Customer Service, and he liked working for Best Buy and felt it was a good company. However, times have changed, people. He's had to complain when dealing with BestBuy.com and some of the retail stores in order to get basic customer service from them. The Best Buy we once knew is no longer. Videos like this just rub salt on open wounds.

I've watched my store put people on illegal shifts, hold people accountable to numbers, and fire some of their hardest working employees (significantly better than myself) for medical catastrophes that resulted in them not being able to work for *gasp* a whole week (they knew this person was too poor to sue them also). I've watched them threaten employees who had 100+ temperatures with termination if they went home early, and routinely falsify hours worked.

@DeniJasmina I've seen people written up for daring to know more about a product than their managers during dual interactions, and seen sexual harrasment that would make MJ blush. Don't pretend that just because the employees are better educated than those at Wal-Mart, said employees are any better off. They are lowly wage slaves, no different than anyone else poor enough to work at a company's ass-end.

Their Leaders are nothing more than managers with a different names. No better than working for Wal-Mart. Everything is crafted to squeeze more work from you, disguised as 'Fun'. Terrible Terrible place to work. Best Buy has a Talent for making an easy retail job more difficult. Making something harder does not always make you an 'elite', it merely means you are stupid enough to follow along. Which unfortunately i still am...

@lardospanko just be persistent. i was finally hired last month after trying to get hired by them for over a year. i had to settle for walmart for the time being. the hardest thing is the Unicru personality test. I must have failed that about a 100 times. And then found this pBot 1.1 add-in for my mozilla browser. i took the test using that, and finally got a call back from not one, but two best buys. after they call you for the interview, just think of is as any other interview and be yourself

@lardospanko pretty much it can go both ways. you can either wait for a call from them. Usually if you passed the assessment at the end of the application, they will call you in 2 or 3 days and schedule you for an interview. Or you can be proactive and call them. It will show them that you are persistent and you really want the job. It's totally up to you. Just don't give up. If you really want to work there, prove it to them in the interview or if by repeatedly calling them.

@lardospanko to pass the Unicru test never respond kind of agree or some what agree. Always answer strongly agree or strongly disagree and be careful that many of the questions are the same but worded very different. They want to see if you respond different to the same situation of concept. I worked at one of their DC's center for many years, it was good until many policies changes that created fear of work security among many of the workers, their was too much unfairness. I quit.

I worked at BestBuy about 7 years ago, it was to this day, probably the best place I worked at. I left to finish up with school. I wished I would have continued at least a part time job there so I could still stay there in some form. The people made it a great place to work. No not all of them were great, some of them were idiots. But overall it was a good experience. My best friends to this day, are friends I made working at Best Buy. That is why I loved it so much there.

I work at a best buy...and yes they are difficult to get hired at...they have high standards...and yes we get the occasional bonus due to good performance and hitting our goals...it is in no way like commission...EVERYONE gets it or NO ONE gets it...that's not the way a commission store works. Everyone I work with really does enjoy their job.. Best Buy is great to us.

Stay away from Bestbuy OR Futureshop. They say "No Comission", yet I heard they give bonuses and track how much warranty they sell you which ultimately equals the same thing.

This whole speel is just like the commericials from McDonalds where they show how happy all the little workers are only to find out the truth when you're there in person finding yourself unsure if someone spit in your drink or not just because of a justifiably disgruntled employee.

At my first store meeting at Best Buy, it was about the NEW Trust program. They said every body at Best Buy is going to be trained 16 hours at the District Office. It has been over 2 months since the store meeting. I have not had any training on the trust program.

I still not have been trained on things that I really need to know.

I thought Best Buy would be better then that!

@NextNate03 If college is more important to you, sometimes you got to bite the bullet and leave, or try to sell them the idea. Maybe look around for another employer, who can fit you in, even if it's not the job you really want (cleaner, food store, etc), so you can finish college ?? Just a thought :).
