He was pretty clear about saying that Andrew WK was born from a large group of people and that he wasn't the guy from the I Get Wet album.
Now, I LOVE I Get Wet and was a huge fan of his video/live persona back then. In fact, in the featured videos to the right are 2 videos of Party Hard, one with the first AWK (FF4) and with the new one (Paul Frank Store).
I MUCH prefer the first one. So why is it that I can't hear another album from him or see him live?
The whole thing is just a philosophy. The man is a philosopher. Just because the idea of Andrew WK's character was created by a group of people it doesn't mean he is different people. The character was changed, not the person. He says that there is some truth to the character but that HE himself is a different person in real life. He is playing Warped Tour this year with the full band again. There is a LOT of truth to the person, read the biography.
I dont understand what part of this isn't getting through... philosophy aside, the guy who was Andrew WK first isn't the same guy who is him now. The human being who got on stage and sang those songs then and the human being singing them today are two completely seperate human beings. They are not the same. They are both different living breathing people.
