I was accidentally left on a high dose once and they freaked out. I was gone. I remember being in a dream state and could not move. But I did not understand what was going on. Though, I suggest you asking them to put you to sleep because when my brother went to the dentist and he got laughing gas, instead of laughing he was screaming with pain. :/ You could hear him from outside. So it's either they didn't give him enough laughing gas or it just simply doesn't work.
