It's both top down and bottom up.
How would a "miniature submarine robot" not be useful for drug deliver?
Why rely on particles that merely mimmick anti-bodies and "chemical receptors," when you could design a transport like a miniature robot with a 4 bit or 8 bit processor, which can literally drive itself to the location?
Both approaches have their uses and shouldn't exclude one another.

is there any graphical simulation for building nano machines for computer? Something like to make people on the internet propose their nano machine desing.
@AeonLeon I don't think so but I'm pretty sure there is a distributed processing project which allows your computer to use its spare processor cycles to calculate possibilities on the nano scale. The rosetta project does something similar in calculating protein structures to help with medical research and the like. The BOINC software would be the place to look, there are many worthy projects like SET@home and Rosetta and I believe there is a Nano@home project, but I do not know the details.

Well if they want to deliver the "drug" to the exact place you don't use artificial shit, there ARE vitamins which is needed to our body not the newest drug on the TV from the adverts. Vitamins are the solution! They know where to go! But not Aspirin.
I agree that nanotech. has good and bad sides as well. It depends on the scientists what do they use it for and make afterwards, which will be sold all around the word and making the word changing...
@NoogLeader I am not saying that. I am saying that with this technology we can make such an awesome stuff as well but there are bad sides depending on what we use it for.
@JuhosAlbert Abject fear isn't going to make technology better or less dangerous. You just have to accept that this technology is coming. It is coming faster then you think possible. Heck just the other day I seen a tiny robot go through a maze that was only about 100 nanometers wide. Now that is progress you can count on. Before long these devices will be embedded everywhere even in your body. The benefits far outweigh the dangers of such devices.
