German is important. The reasons for learning German - J S Bach's music, Schubert's lieder, Richard Strauss' lieder and operas, Wagner's operas ect, ect. Aso Gothe's poetry, Thomas Mann's novels ect. That's why I learn German, not that I would be able to order beer and food in Germany.
