This movie shows how hypocrite society is; so many idiots raising children or letting the tv or the streets do it and no one does cares, even a good and honest parent would get mess with this kind of questions because it´s so hard and we all make mistakes, no one borns knowing how to be a parent and normally people in the system get so blind by their power that they just dont care about the kids, they care about their rules and standards of what is best and that is relative for everyone

To me, the saddest thing about this movie was how true to life it is, about CPS stealing children from loving families. The script-writer was obviously trying to warn people about how too much power corrupts CPS workers.

In Russia you got an epidemic of kids growing up with alcoholics and drug addicts. These kids grow up with serious mental problems. So we're lucky we have the CPS for the most part. In those cases where they screw things up, we need to make sure it never happens again. Maybe by taking away some of their power

Thats a valid question :) Some people in the world can look beyond mental handicap or even physical attraction. Simply put, Sam seems like a really nice and caring guy; I can see him being quite nervous when he did have sex but its still possible. some girl in india had a baby when she was 8. Sam's partner may have been handicapped also. And yeah "normal" doesn't necessarily mean better, some normal people are complete pricks. Sam's kind and probably treated his partner right, thats all it takes

Yes he is certainly capable of love, but love alone is not enough to raise a child successfully (especially when you have basically no familial or outside social support and your ability to pay the bills in nonexistant).
