S2000 is a great car, I own one (I wouldn't mind owning a Z4 too), but it's not THAT fast, it especially lacks some midrange torque. The Z4 3.0 is faster, fact. Don't care actully, because I don't think it's as FUN in the twisties ;)
you can find bmw z4 for a good price now adays..affordable / I bought 2008 one for 20,750 ..you cant get a better car for that price..and man it runs damn good!

why yall fighting about which is better! i like both i was debating which one to get z4 or honda s2000 but i got away from both cause my pockets be empty the way i would drive these cars lol but when i was deciding the i wanted the honda s2000 cause easier to tune and i think it looks hotter plus what got me away the most was the cost of repairs on the z4 and i felt like id be getting ripped off cause im paying for the badge plus honda makes really reliable cars gotta accord 5spd 224k miles

If I was asked to choose, I would select the BMW Z4. If I had the money, I would buy the BMW Z4. If I did not have the money, I would buy a point A to point B economy car, and then work my way to a BMW Z4.

I drive a stock AP1 and love to see the Z4 drivers look as the S2000 pulls away while still in second gear.. boxters don't even rate a mention. If by Z4 class to mean slow then I agree with you - take it to the track gentlemen,,, and the S2000 takes the win, no question.

i must admit, it is up for debate. i would say the base model z4 is a reasonable candidate since its a similar car with a similar horsepower rating. i made the comment b/c on here so many people compare s2000's with cars it cant touch. ill definitely have to think about it more to give u a better answer

Z4 wasn't around when the S2000 first started.. was made to compete with the 1999-2000 M Roadster, mostly. Actually it may have been made to compete with the Z3, but it blew that out of the water and was on par with the M Roadster until they upped the M Roadster's HP to 315 in 2001.
Anyway... S2000 definitely could've had a better start, but it's hard to get it just right in the S2k since it's low on torque. Takes alotta revs. The Z4 needed to stay in his lane more, too! lol
