Them boxing guys are so lame ba@#&*ds. Christian is so adorable when he says that boxing is my second dream and olli is his first cant get better than that.
The one thing this show explores, among many other things, is the persecution of homosexuals. Can you imagine in a city like Düsseldorf, a fairly tolerant city, a young man--an adult--gets beaten near death by another adult? Not because he has stolen something, or committed arson or murder, or because he started a fight himself, but because he has a sexual relationship with another consenting adult--privately. It is madness, unadulterated madness.
However, this kind of blatant bigotry is everywhere. Today in our world, women are "lashed" for driving a car in Saudi Arabia; children are expelled from school in Pakistan because of an accidentally blasphemous spelling error. Girls have acid thrown in their faces because they dare to go to school in Afghanistan. The irrational fanaticism demonstrated by Axel isn't isolated to "other non-western" countries. The problem is how to deal with it; clearly people can get around the law.
Depriving women of driving in Saudi Arabia has to do with the way people are living there. There is no clear verse in the Quran nor in Sharia that says women should not drive . Life in Saudi Arabia is luxurious for the majority to the point that almost every family there owns a car and a Pakistani driver , so they never thought that a woman needs to drive a car herself . When tradition is carved in peoples minds , it must be hard to change it
It would have been an interesting story line if Axel had to do community service at a gay community centre, or is forced to help with gay/straight alliance clubs in schools. A place where h's forced to unlearn his ignorance. On another note, I can't believe Christian's braveness. He is either completely ignorant of the realities facing gays, which is not necessarily a bad thing in his case because it gives him courage to expect equal respect, or he's never had to deal with it--probably both.
Why is discrimination rule the minds of some people who only accept a human being by being a heterosexual, also those families who can't bare to have a homo child, to some brotherhoods who prefers a Robinhood in a group than a fairy? I believe that homosexuality is not a sin or a crime that is against the law, a disease that is viral and everyone can be infected and even not a choice but in fact you are born to be. its better to be loved for who you are than who you are not!
I am so proud of Christian. There are so many douche-bag homophobes at my school, and I hate it. A kid got beaten up on Friday just because he was gay, and he had to be taken to the hospital. The kid who beat him up didn't even get suspended.
I kinda wish Christian would corner axel in an ally and beat the everliving shit out of him. The stupid homophobe deserves it.
although i am not gay, i also feel very fortunate that even living in a small village there are no homophobes around, at least not at my school. There are out people at my school an yeah theres is banter but its just messing around and there are not really any nasty homophobes. Well in my country!! its a big a shame to come out!! its really unfair... cause in this soap opera says something true, that we could crush on someone human no matter if its a guy or a girl the important thing is find the love!!
im straight and from a pretty small town (4000 people) in rural ireland where (most) people dont care if your gay or not which is pretty surprising really since the guy who was our towns 'first' gay man is still alive! I still dont know how people can have a problem with anyone being gay. I know a few gay men and one lesbian who's the funniest person ive ever met!
PS WHY DOES THE HOMOPHOBE LEADER HAVE A MULLET?? EW!
They showed the true gritty truth of life for homosexuals the prejudice they face It's so sad that we have been to the moon and back but are still narrow minded creeps.
Im from Center America and I have a cousin (girl) whom just came out and th whole family is shoking right now...thats why I really freaked out of gregor reaction about his brother being swcoul he was so agree...
I thought in Germany Being Gay is very acceptable ... Especially in Dusseldorf?? there are also many gay bars , saunas , clubs there.... it's even not to far away from Cologne...(very impressive Christopher Stree day) .... Why in this soap People are so Homophobic ???
There are homophobic people everywhere... and the more homosexuality is accepted in public the more these homophobic people get a contact surface.
And in "men"-sport it is not often allowed or accepted to be gay because they feel unmanly while there is someone around cause it could redound to them, you know? :)
@namkun78 in germany gays have rights (for example marriage, even if its not the same as it is for heteros) but this doesn't mean that there aren't very narrow minded peole arround who have a problem with what other people are doing (dont ask why). gay relationships even were forbidden till the 1970's? (i think) but it's right in some citys there is a big gay scene (and sevral christopher street days even in citys that arent that big) but some are very conservativ (especially in the coutryside)
@namkun78 because it would be really boring to see a gay couple just living their lives. drama makes films interesting. being gay is nothing special in germany anymore. especially in north-rhine westphalia.
I wish i was as lucky I'm from india n here being a homosexual is a criminal offense u can b jailed 4 10 years and give penalty of $12,000 if discovered
@sukritistraitup really?! I didn't know we had such laws there?! I mean, I know the society doesn't accept homosexuality but there were laws against them! Damn!
@ReijiAoeGirl666 I see. Thanks for the info, makes it much easier to understand the storyline. Its similar to the sodomy laws in US that were struck down recently...at least in most states I think. We have a long way to go though, but reading a few of the comments gives me hope that there will be a world free of bigotry one day if not in our lifetime maybe our future generations :)
@sukritistraitup Not since July 2009. Homosexuality had been illegal in India since 1861, when British rulers codified a law prohibiting it. The law (Section 377 of India's penal code) however was overturned on 2nd July 2009. It garnered a lot of media attention actually and the entire month leading up to the judgment, numerous prominent figures and groups from all different fields came out to support the community. New Delhi's 3rd official gay pride parade is to be held in November this year.
@sukritistraitup Gay couples can get married in Goa (under French law though) Gay pride parades are being held every year in different parts of the nation ever since 1999.I know we're one of the most staunch & narrow minded countries where people just want to hang on to this belief of preserving our 'culture & tradition',but times are (hopefully) changing! I personally haven't come across any bias against gay people from my circle.I'm still in school tho.Maybe the real world isn't that friendly.
kind of scary...i just wanted to get ollie out of there...dont know why but i got the feeling that christian will be able to defend himself but not both of them
I love how whenever christian is angry, olli is always calm and relaxed and when olli is angry christian is always calm, so they balance each other out :D And they are both very cute..VERY x
Yeah...no one in my area really cares if you are gay or not. My mom actually asked me if I was a lesbian and said she didn't care that she just wanted to know....it's not her fault though...I have never brought any of my boyfriends home to meet her!
I have the fortune of being born and raised in a big city where more then being accepted, no one really gives a damn if your gay or whatever, sometimes even your family, In high school, I meet my boyfriend, when we first meet he always used to pick on me and tease me, but in a playful way, it lasted the whole first year, on the second year our flirting was so obvious our class mates waned us to just get together and we did! been with him ever since and I still love him as much as I did then. B&A
OMG thats soo cute <3 wish you happiness ^^ yea my area doesnt really give either...its pretty free and my parents know im bi :D they didnt really care XD it was a funny moment in my life
for everyone who came out in the comments , i highly respect you :D and think you are awesome , i am obsessed fan with olli and chistian , i really don't give a damn what there gender is , love has no gender, color, shape or size . ,i just love thier chemistry and i love to watch there acting abilities :D
but also doesn't hurt that they are completely gorgous and sexy to xD
i agree with you the town i live in don't really respect gay people. my best friend had to move when he came out cause it was so bad. everybody deserves to be loved.
Very intersting for once the gay guy it's not hairdresser or model. But I do think that in reality if a big sport champion would ever do his coming out all newspaper would shout the news to everybody.
@gayfan96583214659 India was under british rule for 200 years so most of us know the queen's tongue extremely fluently I personally am a Professor of english lit in college
I'm Bi... UK and Colombia!!! This interesting soap made me learn many things about myself... about carrying all my Freedom and Responsability on, about Coping and Facing The Obstacles, and never Give Up To An Invalid Argument!!!! This is Our Life, and We Were Never Made To Destroy, Because We Have Been Born This Way and We Are Looking For Somone Like Us... I Appreaciate all The Comments Below and Above... I'm a Verbotene Liebe Fan!!!!!!!!!!
Bravo!! I am a gay as well... for me accepting the 'gay' fact wasnt new(i'd been involved in gay sex @ very early age)... but this soap has made me in love with my sexuality like never before... it wiped off any hesitations that i had... (lol - now i'm only hoping some christian in my life)... i'm really really scared to even imagine these guys might be parting away in any coming series... i hope that's not into writers mind... i can only see these guys always in love than any chng for sake of.
i am 14 n my two best friends are lesbians, they came out at this age and r a cuple. at first every1 was a little freakd by t but we accepted it and its now natural for us 2 c them together
if a group of teens cam accept homosexuals then why cant he adults. after all arent hey supposed 2 be the responsible ones!
This is a wonderful story wonderfully told by Christian and Olli. But I can tell you without personal knowledge that it was a gay writer who scripted between 2:49 and 3:16. The right things happen when it is the right things that matter.
i dnt get it it why are ppl so mean to gays? like really? whats wrong with them im a girl and my best friends gay, he's so cool i dont think theres anything wrong with him, why are they so mean? im sad :(
I am gay, 58 years old and live in the U.S. I was 18, just graduating from High School when the riots started in N.Y. at the Stonewall bar. You ask why people are so mean to gays? It sounds simplistic, but I think it is because we sense rhythms and connections in life that can't be learned. Haters devalue that sense and kill it. Still, I think we are needed...What color would the world be for you if they could have the end of us? The sad thing is we don't mean harm to anyone. Yet.
You know, our local newspaper had a front page article about a gay couple who were married when gay marriage was legalised here in Massachusetts. I wish more publications had that attitude.
Homophobia is just wrong. Why do people have to be so close minded?
I wonder, in the real boxing world, is it just like in this soap? I mean, is it 'forbidden' to be gay in the boxing world? Is here anyone who know that?
I don't know about boxing, but from what i've seen here in the states the majority of the sports world isn't exactly "gay friendly." I personally don't see how who you sleep with matters when you're playing baseball or football, but unfortunately not everybody sees it that way.
well, I'm in the U.S. and i have no idea about the boxing scene, but definitely football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and all of the major sports. the discrimination thing going on where i am is more religious than anything else though.
It comes from the latin "id est" and means "that is"...
It's fairly often confused with other abbreviations, especially "e.g.".
The "i.e." is commonly used to introduce something that is explanatory, as opposed to being an example. If you can say "for example" as a substitute for the abbreviation, you want to use "e.g.", not "i.e.".
Hope my explanation could help! XD
P.S. "e.g." stands for "exempli gratia" = "for example" in latin... I though u might wanna know... ^_^
You could tell Christian was about to get up in their faces but Olli once again worked his charm on Christian. Olli is seriously the only one who has that affect on Christian! <3
Just one of many obvious reasons they were meant to be!!! XD
Actually, I think it's two states (Not counting CA). Plus, there are other countries who kill people for being gay. We're not that bad. It's just the Bible belt that's keeping us so intolerant, anyway. I bet if states weren't so scared of incurring the wrath of the Bible-pushers, then gay rights would skyrocket.
Yeah, you're right, I kinda lumped together Connecticut and Massachusetts, sorry. ^^"
America doesn't kill people for being gay, but people in it do. Just a year ago, this very month, a 15 year old boy was shot in the head. And there's the horrible, tragic story of Matthew Shepard, of course.
I definitely agree with you about what you said about the bible, but it's not the only contributing factor. Intolerance and fear in general, religion or not, is plaguing our country.
You are very correct. Fear, intolerance, and just plain stupidity cause some of the worst possible hate crimes everywhere, including America. I can only hope that our generation (which I believe is much more tolerant than the one currently in charge) can set things right.
I certainly hope so...though my catholic school doesn't seem too promising. Just today, one of my friends and I were talking about gays in the army, and she says,
"Honestly, if you were in the army, and you were army crawling next to a lesbian, tell me you'd ACTUALLY feel comfortable."
I was astonished. That just made me sick. But she's very very very conservative-republican-y. Which would explain a lot.
That is rather unnerving, to think that some people can say that? I mean, you might be army-crawling next to a guy, and I don't think that in the given situation he would think "Gee, I wanna feel that chick up." Neither would a lesbian.
I went to a Catholic school (only went up to grade 8), and some of the kids who went to that school with me are just fine with gays. There's hope! (The ones who aren't okay with it are just people with Republican parents, of course)
well, i agree with christianity and all that, i just think some of the things in the bible are a bit outdated. like about gays for instance. and i know its not the only factor, but i do think if the church accepts it then a lot of hardcore christians & catholics will think it's ok too
yea, that's true, but a lot of people right now disagree with the Church as well. =D i go to a Catholic school and there are...well, sides on the issue. it's split in half. so sad.
And now there are 6 state where it's legal, with New York and New Jersey likely to follow soon. Here in California we'll turn it around and have it legal again as well. Prop. 8 was a highly funded anomaly.
I think most states will be legalising it within the next few years, but it'll be the day when you see a southern state like Louisiana or Texas or Alabama legalising gay marriage. But I do think California will have it legalised again soon enough. Unfortunately, there may well be another huge fight against it which can only be worse when people who are pro gay marriage fight back twice as hard knowing what's happened already. :[
i agree with what most of u are saying its wiered how people and judge people basedon who the love my mom does it and it botheres me just as much as my brothers racial comments im so sick of all the bull i dont see the problem in loveing some one of the same gender as long as your being honest to urself and them it shouldnt matter
homophobes are everywhere! i'm from holland and most people are really openminded but there will always be people who are not! and people who say they don't care until it's right in there face and can't handle to guys or girls kissing right in front of them. most peolpe can't see that all that really matters is love between to people. wheater this love makes you gay or strait(sorry for my spelling!) it should,nt matter.
I agree with you so much. I'm from Oklahoma (live here anyway, from California) USA and Ok. is Redneck country meaning very closeminded people. A lot of guys at our school, even if they are homophobic, act litterally gay though for some reason. For laughs I guess. My family, most of them, is homophobic, glad I didn't inherit that traight, and two of my closest friends at this school are homophobic and it SUCKS! Me, I love gay people and we all know one. He is totally awsome. Stupid people.
Trying being in America were we are suppose to be free and have rights... Being gay here is terrifying because i don't know who is going to want to kill me for it and who will accept me for it...*sighs* Honestly tho i thought that a lot of Countries outside the USA were accepting of Gays...
Last week a tranny got married and all the press was there because she¡s a celebrity. She was beautiful, wearing a white dress and all. Plus, gay marriages are legal here and people are very accepting of gays. There's always an idiot around, but is the minority.
But, in general, latin american countries have some issues about gay people, they aren't as open minded as in Europe or USA... Here in Chile there was a lesbian judge who lived with his couple and her daughters (she was married before) and the children were taken away from her... it's sad but it's a reality. Most of latin american countries are not ready for gay people, they are discriminate, making fun of them...
HUH?? Dont tell me the US is open minded!!. They're SO not. Dont you remember what happened to Matthew Shepard? Chile's an exception in Latin America because you can't even show naked people on tv, it's banned. Argentina is very different. For instance, there's a gay couple (two guys) who rented a womb and now they have two beautiful eight-year old twins. People may discriminate homosexuals in Chile, but in majority that doesnt happen here.
They are all pieces of fucking whore shitty ass bitchy bastard hole... turds.

I thought in Germany Being Gay is very acceptable ... Especially in Dusseldorf?? there are also many gay bars , saunas , clubs there.... it's even not to far away from Cologne...(very impressive Christopher Stree day) .... Why in this soap People are so Homophobic ???
namkun78 2 years ago
@namkun78
There are homophobic people everywhere... and the more homosexuality is accepted in public the more these homophobic people get a contact surface.
And in "men"-sport it is not often allowed or accepted to be gay because they feel unmanly while there is someone around cause it could redound to them, you know? :)
Not such an easy subject ^^
DerJensemann84 2 years ago 7
@namkun78 in germany gays have rights (for example marriage, even if its not the same as it is for heteros) but this doesn't mean that there aren't very narrow minded peole arround who have a problem with what other people are doing (dont ask why). gay relationships even were forbidden till the 1970's? (i think) but it's right in some citys there is a big gay scene (and sevral christopher street days even in citys that arent that big) but some are very conservativ (especially in the coutryside)
1098760908 2 years ago 3
@namkun78 because it would be really boring to see a gay couple just living their lives. drama makes films interesting. being gay is nothing special in germany anymore. especially in north-rhine westphalia.

@sukritistraitup really?! I didn't know we had such laws there?! I mean, I know the society doesn't accept homosexuality but there were laws against them! Damn!
sam0318 1 year ago
@sam0318
Until 1974 gay sex wasn't allowed in Germany. It was a law that was set earlier, but they missed changing it until that point which is terrible.
I think in Germany the people are kind of open-minded, but some are still thinking of gays as feminine man who have woman's jobs.
It is better than in many other countries, but sometimes I have the feeling that some people are still living in the middle-age.
But most of the people don't care who's gay or not. We even had a gay tv channel.
ReijiAoeGirl666 1 year ago
@ReijiAoeGirl666 I see. Thanks for the info, makes it much easier to understand the storyline. Its similar to the sodomy laws in US that were struck down recently...at least in most states I think. We have a long way to go though, but reading a few of the comments gives me hope that there will be a world free of bigotry one day if not in our lifetime maybe our future generations :)
sam0318 1 year ago 2
@sukritistraitup Not since July 2009. Homosexuality had been illegal in India since 1861, when British rulers codified a law prohibiting it. The law (Section 377 of India's penal code) however was overturned on 2nd July 2009. It garnered a lot of media attention actually and the entire month leading up to the judgment, numerous prominent figures and groups from all different fields came out to support the community. New Delhi's 3rd official gay pride parade is to be held in November this year.
radiounactive 1 year ago
@sukritistraitup Gay couples can get married in Goa (under French law though) Gay pride parades are being held every year in different parts of the nation ever since 1999.I know we're one of the most staunch & narrow minded countries where people just want to hang on to this belief of preserving our 'culture & tradition',but times are (hopefully) changing! I personally haven't come across any bias against gay people from my circle.I'm still in school tho.Maybe the real world isn't that friendly.

Yeah...no one in my area really cares if you are gay or not. My mom actually asked me if I was a lesbian and said she didn't care that she just wanted to know....it's not her fault though...I have never brought any of my boyfriends home to meet her!
beezlebub678 2 years ago 2
I have the fortune of being born and raised in a big city where more then being accepted, no one really gives a damn if your gay or whatever, sometimes even your family, In high school, I meet my boyfriend, when we first meet he always used to pick on me and tease me, but in a playful way, it lasted the whole first year, on the second year our flirting was so obvious our class mates waned us to just get together and we did! been with him ever since and I still love him as much as I did then. RainBowGoLucky878 2 years ago 10
Yet.

This show is fabelhaft!
gibbon28 2 years ago
I don't know about boxing, but from what i've seen here in the states the majority of the sports world isn't exactly "gay friendly." I personally don't see how who you sleep with matters when you're playing baseball or football, but unfortunately not everybody sees it that way.
eringobraugh007 2 years ago 2
well, I'm in the U.S. and i have no idea about the boxing scene, but definitely football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and all of the major sports. the discrimination thing going on where i am is more religious than anything else though.
hitsugaya1001 2 years ago
what does "i.e." mean?
DessThePuk 2 years ago
It comes from the latin "id est" and means "that is"...
It's fairly often confused with other abbreviations, especially "e.g.".
The "i.e." is commonly used to introduce something that is explanatory, as opposed to being an example. If you can say "for example" as a substitute for the abbreviation, you want to use "e.g.", not "i.e.".
Hope my explanation could help! XD
P.S. "e.g." stands for "exempli gratia" = "for example" in latin... I though u might wanna know... ^_^

One state [made fun of all the time]. Another state legalized it, but that didn't last long.
You'd be...really, really surprised how intolerant people are here. It's unbelievable.
RainbowsOfDoom 3 years ago
Actually, I think it's two states (Not counting CA). Plus, there are other countries who kill people for being gay. We're not that bad. It's just the Bible belt that's keeping us so intolerant, anyway. I bet if states weren't so scared of incurring the wrath of the Bible-pushers, then gay rights would skyrocket.
peculiarity78 3 years ago
Yeah, you're right, I kinda lumped together Connecticut and Massachusetts, sorry. ^^"
America doesn't kill people for being gay, but people in it do. Just a year ago, this very month, a 15 year old boy was shot in the head. And there's the horrible, tragic story of Matthew Shepard, of course.
I definitely agree with you about what you said about the bible, but it's not the only contributing factor. Intolerance and fear in general, religion or not, is plaguing our country.
RainbowsOfDoom 3 years ago 3
You are very correct. Fear, intolerance, and just plain stupidity cause some of the worst possible hate crimes everywhere, including America. I can only hope that our generation (which I believe is much more tolerant than the one currently in charge) can set things right.
peculiarity78 3 years ago 3
I certainly hope so...though my catholic school doesn't seem too promising. Just today, one of my friends and I were talking about gays in the army, and she says,
"Honestly, if you were in the army, and you were army crawling next to a lesbian, tell me you'd ACTUALLY feel comfortable."
I was astonished. That just made me sick. But she's very very very conservative-republican-y. Which would explain a lot.
RainbowsOfDoom 3 years ago
That is rather unnerving, to think that some people can say that? I mean, you might be army-crawling next to a guy, and I don't think that in the given situation he would think "Gee, I wanna feel that chick up." Neither would a lesbian.
I went to a Catholic school (only went up to grade 8), and some of the kids who went to that school with me are just fine with gays. There's hope! (The ones who aren't okay with it are just people with Republican parents, of course)
peculiarity78 3 years ago
well, i agree with christianity and all that, i just think some of the things in the bible are a bit outdated. like about gays for instance. and i know its not the only factor, but i do think if the church accepts it then a lot of hardcore christians & catholics will think it's ok too
x
bringbackkeating 3 years ago 3
yea, that's true, but a lot of people right now disagree with the Church as well. =D i go to a Catholic school and there are...well, sides on the issue. it's split in half. so sad.

And now there are 6 state where it's legal, with New York and New Jersey likely to follow soon. Here in California we'll turn it around and have it legal again as well. Prop. 8 was a highly funded anomaly.
sfvniceguy 2 years ago 7
I think most states will be legalising it within the next few years, but it'll be the day when you see a southern state like Louisiana or Texas or Alabama legalising gay marriage. But I do think California will have it legalised again soon enough. Unfortunately, there may well be another huge fight against it which can only be worse when people who are pro gay marriage fight back twice as hard knowing what's happened already. :[

You can move to Argentina whenever you want! :)
Last week a tranny got married and all the press was there because she¡s a celebrity. She was beautiful, wearing a white dress and all. Plus, gay marriages are legal here and people are very accepting of gays. There's always an idiot around, but is the minority.
spikaia2 3 years ago 3
But, in general, latin american countries have some issues about gay people, they aren't as open minded as in Europe or USA... Here in Chile there was a lesbian judge who lived with his couple and her daughters (she was married before) and the children were taken away from her... it's sad but it's a reality. Most of latin american countries are not ready for gay people, they are discriminate, making fun of them...
lhaudi88 3 years ago
