It's nice to see you're finally paying closer attention to the codes Apollo. Pops wanted to stress the importance to both of us pre-93 that our relationship was to be Platonic. Post-92, he realized was convinced that he need only stress that importance with you.
Oh my gosh.. this song just makes me feel so damn happy :3 I loved this song when I was like, 8, and I used to watch the Twilight Zone Movie with my grandfather. As everyone else has mentioned.. "wanna see something REALLY scary?" :p
One of the best songs this California Kid did of Southern Blues. He had a great knack for putting Southern Blues to a California sound. Don't think they ever made bad music!
i remeber listening to this working on a 3 story roof. i was 16 singing this wit my cousin 6 in the moring, and i tripped on hes safety line and i slid down the roor and almost died, but still kept singing when i got up ... hahaha
Well I'll be! I just learned this morning that this song was written by an inmate of the Central Unit Prison in Sugar Land, Texas! I live just twenty minutes from there.
Great song! You can just hear the chug of the train in the way they play the guitar.
The twilight zone was a pretty good movie and fun to watch, but thats not what brought me here, ccr can loosen up anybody who likes them, it go good when you got good song and good movie together :)
Always loved this band. This is one of my favorites. Love the echoing, chugging guitar riffs ... this one is similar to "Run Through the Jungle," another one of my favorites. '50s, '60s and '70s were the golden age of rock & roll :)
This song brings back such good memories for me <3 When I was 5 or 6 me and my dad would sing this together. Was one of the first songs I ever learned and no matter how many piercings I get or how many crazy colors I dye my hair, this songs always gonna be close to my heart, just like my dad. :)
in an old tom and jerry episode...long before creedance...a depressed tom sits on the tracks and waits for a train to hit him.that train is the midnight special
the midnight special is the name of a train.when he says let the midnight special shine a light on me hes sitting on the tracks waiting for the train to hit him.
The Midnight Special is a train that runs in Sugarland, TX (just southwest of Houston). The train tracks run right next to the prison out there. The prisoners used to call it their freedom train because whenever the train would go by, the engine light would shine into their cells. If they could make it past the gaurds, they could jump on the train. This is coming from my friend who is a prison gaurd at that prison in Sugarland, TX. The train still goes by.
So, I'm 18 years old. & my 35 year old mother makes fun of me for listening to this, lmfao. But it's because it makes me think of my 45 year old daddy, <3
@cwilbaby wanna know something? FUCK YOU. i hate all these little fucks like you that just becase youre 13 or 15 or whatever and listen to something you think youre all special. you just have a different taste than others. thats all.

In sugar land prison they would fry prisoners at midnight, surging the electricity throughout the prison and in the cells in certain parts of the old prison this would be the most light some of the cells would get.
Eu gostei muito... A voz combina perfeitamente com o ritmo... É uma música que você ouvi e gosta de primeira... Estava lendo Dark Hunter - Dave e Bride e ele tem como tema essa música então passei pra da uma olhada e gostei...
@championkhan I believe it's the name of a train, that goes past a jail, and if the light of that train shines into your cell, you're the first person to leave the prison.
According to Folk music historian Alan Lomax as documented in the book Folk Song USA, the Midnight Special was a real train: the Southern Pacific Golden Gate Limited. A traditional Folk song, Leadbelly popularized it upon his release from Sugar Land prison in Texas, where he could hear the Midnight Special come through. In the song, the light of the train gives the inmates hope - if it shines on them they take it as a sign they will soon go free.
@Audio4You it is a train that passes by the jail going from Chicago to New Orleans and if the light shines on you that means u have another night in there, thats good because the cell he is in is death row.
@championkhan In sugar land prison they would fry prisoners at midnight, surging the electricity throughout the prison and in the cells in certain parts of the old prison this would be the most light some of the cells would get.
@championkhan when life and its pains become too much, its the train that transports your soul to its next destination. folk belief. im waiting on the platform now,but lifes been great.
You know how even your favorite song, there are parts of it that can be changed for the better.? Well, I would say that about this classic, it's one of the few songs that I'd consider as being "just perfect."
I was introduced to these guys in 1986...we used to listen to them every Friday & Saturday night while partying. Man, those were the days. lol! I just remember the first time I heard one of their songs, I IMMEDIATELY loved them, and have loved them ever since! You know, this many years later, I still have the same feeling I had the first time I heard them. Amazing what music can do, huh?!
Both top comments are pretty much identical and equally fucking retarded. Good work!
