Wow that is a gorgeous beta fish! I personally absolutely love the red ones and the blue ones. Their colors are so bright! Right now I have a white beta, but his tail is like a flourescent blue / pink. He's very pretty. He was in bad shape when I first got him, but a week later, after feeding him bloodworms, brineshrimp and betta flakes (alternating) his fins look more healthy and his colors are starting to shine. =)
This is not right I breed bettas and no they don't "need" heaters or a larger space but they thrive in it I keep 6 males in 5 gallons each filtered and heated and 20 gallons for my sorority of females and my oldest male is 6 years old and healthy higher temps helps keep parasites and such away and it is impossible to get a full nitrogen cycle in this small tank
Gorgeous betta.. Tiny tank. You can invest in a 2.5 gallon (and a heater). They're not hard to take care of when you do it right, and he'll live longer. ;) Good luck with your buddy!
OH MY GOD YOU GUYS.... STOP asking around and ask people to change to bigger tank... THIS ARE BETTA THEY CAN LIVE IN A SMALL ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL THIER LIVES.. i knew all this cause im a home based breeder...!!
alright here retard children. bettas DO NOT need a large tank. They are actually more than capable of living in the itty bitty tanks that are no bigger than a water glass at the pet store. Plants are a good idea but not necessary. bettas only really 'cling' to plants and surroundings if other bettas are close. you DO NOT need a heater either! lol. read up on it.
I like fishes and reptiles so much ! I had many Betta's ,Iridscent Sharks,Guppy's ,And many others but the betta is the best fish if you threat him well I wish that this betta gets a bigger and better place were he can live with some girls together ;)
i kind of agree with the people about the container but you betta's healthy and alert, it has clean water and the color of it's body is bright so that's a good thing ^_^ but please consider about my comment please! ^_^
you absolutely need to improve your fishkeeping!!!
even a betta needs more space.. and in the puddles he will find a lot more space to hide in. besides-in such a small tank.. the excretions will not dissolve properly and stronly attack his immune system and skins.
tailed bettas are high-bred animals, they do not occur in nature, but are breeds - theire helth is much more sensitive...
AND BETTAS NEED TO HIDE.. SO PUT IN SOME PLANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the wild these fish live in water that is 2-5 cm thick, hence their gills are adapted to less oxygen BUT yeah who gives a shit it'd probly be happier with a bigger home.
Yesh a bigger tank would be better than this little cup, this is the type of cup i rescued my turquoise crowntail from, he is in a half of a 5 gallon divided tank now, and makes bubble nests all the time!
This environment is OK for betta fish. They come from areas in Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, etc.) that flood and drain leaving not much more than stagnant mud puddles. Bettas live in these mud puddles. When it floods again, betta fish are allowed to mingle and breed. They feed largely off of insect larvae in these mud puddles/wet areas.
The tiny container he is is in is WAY too small. Get at least a 3 gallon tank. Check out a 3 gallon Eclipse tank. It has a filter built in to the hood and a florescent light. He would be much happier. It's best if male Bettas don't see each other as it stresses them too much and shortens their life span.
i dont think ur betta likes its tank because it keeps hitting the wall(nice betta by the way) and u should check out my vid on my betta its lives in a 1 gallon tank
@kilerr182 they do if the temp is below 75

are u blind to see that he's tensed and want out???
iskaid1 3 years ago
These "mud puddles" are dozens of yards, if not MILES LONG. No, this is not OK for a Betta.
Foxxbox 3 years ago 2
benyamaguchi , its obvious you dont know a shit about bettas. they need a tank thats big ( 20 litres or 58 litres.).
you cant be serious that this pretty betta should live in a fucking cup?!
Thomas55Pham 3 years ago 6
Get a 5 gal tank. The pet store people are lying to you. Bettas are carnivores and need 3 to 5 gallon tanks. Spread this message.
