A hard drive needs to be tidyed up.. as you use the computer over time... the data gets stored all around the disk... and the longer it goes the more the data spreads and thus the reader in the drive needs to work more thus it works slower... Defragmentation simply "cleans up" by sorting your files. do this weekly and you should be fine...
I'm using Diskeeper 2010 pro premier right now, I'm liking it so far. Intelliwriter seems to work well. I don't like how the still doesn't have MTF and directory placement like Perfectdisk, I would like to be able to put those on the fastest parts of my hard drive.
@tipoomaster Yep, not MFT. But it does have directory consolidation. If you go to settings, an option to have directories consolidated should be somewhere at the bottom (I don't remember exactly where).
how did put ur rocket dock on top of the task bar, and how when u open windows u cant c it, on mine is either on auto hide or always shown, it can never be on top of the task bar-thanks for everythin else
how do you get that orange highlight over the menus that you highlight over such as when you clicked at 2:25 because I know thats not the normal color
i manually defrag it several times but it was still in critical condition.. why this that !?

hey, i have this question,
is diskeeper working in background when i click close?
i checked if there is a procces called invisitask or diskeeper but couldnt find any, and there is no tray icon, so is diskeeper working 24/7?
mufaPufaDha 5 months ago
If you want to keep your HDD life longer, don't defrag it more than one time per month.
My computer works everyday for at least 8 hours per day and i defrag my HDD once 3 months and works great! :)

Consolidation yes, placement no.
tipoomaster 1 year ago
@tipoomaster OK, I am confused with terminology here. What exactly do you mean by 'placement' how is it different from 'consolidation.'
darthirakli 1 year ago
@darthirakli
Consolidation = moving them all together.
Placement = moving them to a faster place on the hard drive.

jbeebrylle 2 years ago
I think it's worth it...
marquesbrownlee 2 years ago
its beyond worth it,
my last version of disk keeper messed up and kept giving me a management console glitch, so i couldent de-frag and i was on a laptop.
i learned how important de-fraging is the hard way.

is the bit version determined by the size of the screen or the computer itself?
SPRSniper 2 years ago
By your hardware.... 32-bit hardware vs 64-bit hardware
The main difference is 32-bit offeres more software compatability
But 64-bit can handle more RAM
marquesbrownlee 2 years ago
Nice piece of software. too bad it costs money though

Vista automatically defrags your hard drive when your not using it.
xPerFeXioN 2 years ago
yeah - but it's EXTREMELY slow! and it takes way more system resources
marquesbrownlee 2 years ago
No that's if you wanna manually do it. Vista on default is set on automatically defraying your hard rive when your not using it.
