I recorded this whole show on VHS when it aired. They were actually opening for Ozzy on the show. Freaking classic now! I was going into my freshman year that summer, and got this on LP.
@chelseafnmi: Just what I thought. For the last 20 years I did little else than play guitar or listen to bands with great guitar players and today is the first time I heard the name Warren DeMartini. But this guy is really good! It seldom gets better than that - definitely underrated.
did alot of these bands wear wigs cuz me and my friends tried growing our hair out like that and it didn't work out well for us who didn't have SUPER thick hair and I wouldn't believe that ALL of these hair metal bands had super thick hair.
Honestly, I'm not surprised we have a hole in the ozone layer with all the Aquanet the hair bands and groupies used in the 80s. Dude, that decade was NUCKING FUTZ with the hairspray, spandex, sequins, dayglo, perms, leopard prints....I could go on.
@MrJeronimofo...Not his best vocal performance, but it's not that bad. Solo sounds good. Those are tall boots he's got on. I'd give em a B+ for this overall performance compared to the studio.
all i can add is i was in high school when this came out and i love my life now doing fine. But there still isent a day when i dont wish the date was 1984 .
@cirax93 it was the stiyle back then like nowadays people have american egile and such and such. it was the 80s.. and that lasted longer then 2 years like most bands last now adays.
@cirax93 you mean the same as you have on your favorites like wasp and ozzy and sabbath. I prefer this image and this music than what we have now the same blend boring stuff. so stfu
My first rock concert was RATT with Bon Jovi opening in 1985 - Kansas City, MO! Miss those mega rock shows. Dito Flickerstruck...25 years went by too damn fast.
i was supposed to see them open for billy Squire at nassau colliseum in but cancelled show due to labor dispuit, molley hatchet opened a month later, ughhh...
they sound so great here. pearcy's vox are perfect, great harmonys. i love this band, yes i am old! just started listening to this stuff again, i cant help it!
Love this new RATT lineup But I isist Glam should Re-Invent itself, there should be New younger bands with attitude skills and Real looks (Meaning Long Hair , Leather pants& jackets ,cowboy Boots you get the point?-picture early Guns or Faster pussycat!)) that could come out a do this type of Music with Rage and Power for the new millenuim.
There are a lot of fuckin posers walking around, but there are people who dress like that and bands trying (and failing) to be the "next Motley Crue". I've got long hair, I wear eyeliner, I've got cowboy boots, it's okay I guess.
@CHURINFUNFLAIS. Dude check out the New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal. It's not glam, but still kickass and 80's as fuck. More Maiden and Priest-ish stuff rather than stuff like Ratt or Crue, but still fucking amazing.
@CHURINFUNFLAIS I love jammin to this kind of stuff with my band! I think we probably could sport the leather and attitude and rock, though the hairspray/perms etc would have to go xD
My brother in law was a big Ratt fan when he was about 13 or so. So me and his mother brought him to his first concert, yes RATT out of the cellar tour. Was a great show...
Ratt in their prime -- they were truly firing on all cylinders. Robbin Crosby really anchored the sound with those classic riffs. It's all the more reason he'll be sorely missed.
@6672rock -- Was it just the 80s, or does the guitar style sound very Van Halen-esque? I'm a musician but don't know electric guitar, and would be interested in hearing more from an aficionado.
@thegrammarfairy Typical 80's metal band philosophy: Rhythyms like KISS, solos like Van Halen and vocals like ACDC. It was an era which produced the best music ever!!!

@thegrammarfairy Yes......major Van Halen influence here. Warren plays a Charvel strat set up just like Eddie. Warren was a great player..........great band too
the youth of today have no idea what rock is. And its so sad. They make fun of 80s Rock, but its because they truley have no idea what it was like back then. Shit, I barely know what it was like!!! Being that Im only 30!!! But I remember all of these bands, seeing their videos on MTV {unlike the crap MTV shows today}.
And I cant wait to see RATT next week! My friends and I even have backstage passes!
LOL, Juan cracks me up with his choreographed stage movements. Steven used to call the one move where he goes around in a circle type motion, the 'helicopter.' But you know, its cool for him. Anyone else...maybe not so much. hehe. Look at Robbin's guitar! <3 <3 <3 I love love love the King V. Mmm, I can't decide...which is yummier...the guitar or the man playing it...Definately ROBBIN!
I wasnt Even thought of until 1987...this rules..i wish new stuff would sound this great..Time you MTV and Much Music had to Ruin Music and show Generations Tradey Shit!!
WHY IS STEPHEN PEARCY SO ATTRACTIVE TO ME? He isnt all that cute! is it because he's such a great singer? OMG he is so ew but he is so frickin sexy! in the official round and round video he does this kick OMG it is so sexy!
A great song but as usual (and I mean over the years) we gotta listen to this song
while its all out of tune. One of these days Im gonna get to hear this song
played live by some body. Guess thats what yoa get Ratt for putting this original on your Cd and Album tuned down a half fret or what ever ya want to call it. Was it worth it. You jenxed the song I guess.
omfg i looovee RATT and robbin, my love♥ i wish i was around back then...i wish i could have known him to have saved him..he died when i was like 6 years old..2002..rip beautiful, fly to the angles and rock heaven♥
Well, I know there are better thrash bands then Slayer, in fact my favourite band is Megadeth. I just hate the glam scene, not because the music because I do like some songs but I hate the way they dress. @dstrains Saw them all in the 80's. Helix played for 50 audience in Finland. Awesome. No telling from a stadium show. Brian Vollmer sings Dokken or Steven to the gutter. If from TX why not Galactic Cowboys, KIng's X etc. On yer own backyard.

i fuckin hate these 15 teen years old pucks who dads were looking at their first porno mag jacking off when ratt ruled the world of metal little puck ass bitchs long live the ratt pack..
Here's a mind trip. I saw Ratt as a headlining band. Their opener? Bon Jovi. No lie. First time I saw them Ratt opened for Billy Squier. And back in the day, their outfits looked normal to us.
seen ratt in the out of the cellar tour at the hollywood sportatorium . 93 or 94 i believe. always loved warrens style and speed . now im into heavier stuff but at the time , it was crue, dokken, ratt, dio, maiden, priest and ozzy. good days, great music,.
Interesting opinion... back in the day I would ask you to put down the crack pipe...But I can understand the different styles now in my older age... Rock on, Ratt & Roll...
That is how it's done. Not many bands sound this good. Alround kick ass. Thanks for posting, otherwise we wouldn't be able to taste this. Love the backing vocals & tasy solos and not to mention the great vocals. Ratt Rocks, one of my favourite songs.
Thanx 4 the memories! If I get lucky I might be able to see Ratt live by next year for the first time ever...Though they ever played Paris-France but last time must have been 91' . But money was as tight then as Detonator was poorly-convincing, so just missed my turn ;-) maybe should'nt have...
I recorded this whole show on VHS when it aired. They were actually opening for Ozzy on the show. Freaking classic now! I was going into my freshman year that summer, and got this on LP.

their outfits look as gay today as they did back in the day. in no way were they normal. gay all the way is what they were.
love the band though.
the outfits and the hair looked stupid and gay but the music kicked ass.

Damn Warren is a great guitarist. I had traded amps with him in 81 in San Diego. I used that JCM800 for years.

Here's a mind trip. I saw Ratt as a headlining band. Their opener? Bon Jovi. No lie. First time I saw them Ratt opened for Billy Squier. And back in the day, their outfits looked normal to us.

me too brother. greensboro NC, they blew billy squier's ass away.

In my opinion I think Robbin Crosby was a better guitar player !!! CSC/09 in Lynchburg V.A. (U.S.A.)
merishane 2 years ago
he was more blues, where warren was more eddie van halen metal.

Interesting opinion... back in the day I would ask you to put down the crack pipe...But I can understand the different styles now in my older age... Rock on, Ratt & Roll...

Damn, I thought they still sounded pretty good till I heard this--Really nice.
