if you read battle royal its just like the hunger games and the funny thing is it came out before hunger games.... i think she gt hunger games from battle royal but its still a great book better then battle royal
@thugskater98 Yes! Another person who thought of this! I didn't read the book of br but I saw the movie ages ago, and while I like the hunger games, everyone's acting like it's such a new concept, but...it's really not.
@thugskater98 Actually, I think Battle Royal and THG are similar like Iron Man and Batman are similar. (Not bashing, simply stating my opinion.) I mean, both are about a rich man that uses his suit to fight bad guys. Yet, you see them and you see that they have many differences.
@thugskater98 Eh, I think they're only similar in their basic concepts. I don't think that just because a book is similar to another book means one person copied the other person.
I always imagined district 12 in Georgia and going up a small way through Virginia. i live in Georgia and there are lots of trees and there's coal in the mountains (my parents made me go into the moutain one time and i thought it was gonna fall in on me)
also I love how when she was describing where the arenas were she said "I think.." it's like she doesn't know for sure and that's cool ((:
ive always liked to think of district 12 in western pennsylvania, because there is coal here, and its my home. sure it is a bit far from the actual apalaicians, but its not a stretch to imagine the entire area around the appalacians area to be appalaicia
@Ace4929 I do the same thing! There are Appalachain Mountains in Western, PA. The southwestern border has Appalachian mountains, and they fall in much of Western PA going North, just not on the border. I live in Northwestern PA, and I have family from the Appalachia Mountains. They live a good five hours away, though.
Huh. I always thaough she chose the number thirteen because its considered by a lot of people to be supernatural. Lol and my favorite line by her wasnt in The Hunger Games trilogy but in the very first of the Underland Chronicals where Vikus and Gregor were decyphering the prophecy and Vikus said that Sandwich loved comidic word play, to which she responded (I think) "because sandwich was such a funny guy. Ha ha." That style of writing is one of the things I love about her books.
It's a book store... I live in the U.S. so I'm not sure if they have them in Canada. You could probably get them on amazon or eBay. Good Luck! And hope you enjoy Mockingjay!! Woot it comes out in tomorrow! Can't wait!
Just as a point of interest, The Manhattan Project was located in East Tennessee, NOT New York. Personally, that's where I think District 13 is/was :)
i love how much stuff affected her to make this book, her childhood stories that she loved her father in the war, how she set everything up, She is the definiton of a awesome writeer.
oh my i did not even realise every little thing and why she made it like that, now that i see this book is simply stunning! Best book i have ever read!
I agree. I like how it's in the ruins of North America as well, since it's quite possible that we could take technology too far. And with stuff like Global Warming going on.
I'm almost done Mockingjay, it's soo good! Good-bye Twilight, hello Hunger Games!!!
My dads like hers xD Tells us EVERY LITTLE thing xD
