I saw this video at 5:30 in the morning in early 1997 on MTV when i was leaving for 6AM hockey practice and it was the weirdest video / song i had heard (I was into nirvana, smashing pumpkins, korn at the time) and it never left me
Oh god...I'm so old:( What an amazing time in culture this though, albeit on the wrong side of the Atlantic;) Rave culture was just beginning to explode into the US mainstream consciousness, it was an electrifying time to be around. Damn, life was so much more interesting.
No, it wasn't that big, but it was exciting that MTV was starting to play it (along with prodigy, chrystal method, fluke, et al), and the fashion trend was influenced by rave/drug culture (futuristic and heroin chic) in the late 90's....and just as quickly it disappeared and MTV dropped our generation, and started pushing boy bands and brittney spears garbage for the kids, and that was it.
contrary to popular belief, the tomorrow never knows drum riff (although VERY SIMILAR) isn't the same! Ringo's second snare hits like 1/8th note sooner than the chembro's loop.
it's called a sample. musicians do that sometimes. not ripping the song off, simply recreating it. the beatles were a huge influence to noel gallagher (singer for this track) and the chemical brothers. this song was essentially a tribute. deal with it.
There seemed like there was another video, same one but different, It seemed she had red eyes in one video, but In this one she was normal. But either way I remember watching this video one time and felt like I had a nightmare afterwards.
@musicsmymedicine yeah, inspiration is great, but when it sounds just like another song........ george harrison's my sweet lord sounded just like 'he's so fine' yet he also lost the case. and fair enough, becuase they sounded almost exactly the same!
@Babelfish112 "almost exactly the same" is kind of invalid ya dig? almost and exactly are very different. also realize that Drums, unlike all other musical instruments, are much more limited in their ranges, tones, and arrangements. drums are a much more base instrument and thus they can sound similar across songs.
never liked the chemical brothers, too many ppl up thier asses, and too overhyped in the 90's when the prodigy were smashing it. but this tune is undenyably masterclass and deserves a place in the history books... classic!
Use to love the old Chemical Brother 95 to 02 but now there all glvanized. But again there was indie dance post acid market when this came out along with The Prodigy and Underworld,Faithless and Leftfield.
I love the formula that the Brothers used for their videos. On Hey Boy, Out of Control, and here. The protagonist is a good looking girl, and not displayed as a sexual object.
Hey guys check out "chemtrails", there's some stuff going on you need to know about. Good documentaries "Dont talk about the weather" and "Endgame HQ". Check my vids. Tell others. We can fix this if we work together.
Makes you think just how good the beatles were when you listen to this. Not that much difference between this and the original considering that they were made 35 years apart. might have to make revolver my favourite album again for a while.
Top marks to noel and the chem bros for recognising what a tune this is!
i wish people would leave the drug comments behind u know not everyone need to be fucked up to appreciate this type of music! fuck! u guys make me feel like shit !
@coop995 It's not actually a remix of Tomorrow Never Knows it was just inspired by it, when this song was released the remaining beatle's lawyers tried to sue them, but the record company proved that it wasn't

I like techno, but some of the genre's music videos are just, wow. For example:

3:34
Not really following the story arc, either.
