  • I am an atheist. What I see in Bell is that he divorces faith from both reason and revelation. If I am debating against a fundamentalists then I can argue that Noah's Ark is not a reasonable proposition. But if I argue with the likes of Bell and point out anything that is unreasonable in the B. he will say I don't believe that part.

It turns out that Bell's Jesus is generally a kinder J. than the fundamentalist Jesus, but loose of the moorings of reas. and rev. Jesus could become a monster.

  • @stormtrek I'd be happy if they just taught them what a "second temple Jew" is. (stupid spell check)

  • @stormed I'd be happy if they just taught them what a "second temple" Jew is.

  • Oh my goodness. I'm glad Protestant pastors are finally getting challenged. Maybe they can focus more on their theology now rather than their projection screens and coffee bars.

  • @StormTrek Hey, coffee bars are part of the great commission, aren't they?

  • @fgsltwhghobstwbihsnp You're right, the first thing Jesus did after getting baptized and tempted by the devil was to preach the gospel of Kingdom Coffee(TM).

I don't mind coffee bars at church, I just wish those churches would teach their congregations what things like kingdom of God/heaven really meant to a 1st century second temple Jewish audience. Is that too much to ask?

  • @StormTrek Apparently. The problem is that Christianity tends to avoid Christianity. Makes sense to me.
