39 year old 450SL done 92,000 miles?...Yeah Right...It sounds like shit...20 years ago owned a used 450SL with a genuine 127,000 on it, and it ran like new...This CLUNKER is on it's last legs...Try adding another '0' to the mileage and I might believe it.
these V8's just beg for a K&N filter and flowmaster on em we have em on our benzes and they just make it a whole new car Really just the car it was intended to be from the factory
@Domman56 k&n doesn't do anything other than suck more oil and dirt in the engine for a bit more money and make a tiny bit more noise. it's psychological horse power improvement in your mind
@SeeProfileForDetails dude we have them in all of our old benzes and they alwys run smoother and better plus we've dynoed them and they always pick up a few HP from it
Now THIS is what I love to see, an EXCELLENT condition R107 Mercedes in the sun! A timeless design aging gracefully in it's element. Personally, that's why German cars are my favorite, especially the older ones, because while it's 70's counterparts look terribly dated (70's Cadillacs looks like bombastic yachts, and 70's Jag E-types suffered from poor reliability and those terrible U.S.- spec bumpers gave the cat a more snaggle-toothed look), the Benz still looks showroom fresh. Thanks, Kyle!
Oh, that just means refill, as in to refill the gas tank. Most European cars had different, almost surreal icons all over the dash up until the 2000's, I guess.
I have a 450 SE, same engine/tranny. Wonderful car to drive and very reliable. Its often the rust that kills this type of car, the very complex mechanics are incredible well built.
@celsovera91 I know, shows how popular it was haha, I annotated a video I did back in dec of 09 of a 1985 380SL and you can see how it's almost the same thing haha
As I remarked in my post on the '66 250SE video, M-Bs were, and are, costly when it comes to certain models. In '73, this 450SL would have cost approximately $13,500 brand-new, or $65,300 in today's (2010) money. So this was an expensive model in its day.
@saabkyle04 Classic Merc and classic Caddy as well as Lexus vids are my favorites of your videos. Jag ones as well! And don't forget the Bentley ones!
Yaaaay! I wondering whether you would do a review of this. I am glad you did! early 70s SLs are the best because they don't have the ugly front bumpers. The trunk rack and the funky paint job make it look very Euro spec. If it had the rectangular headlights it would look totally Euro! Thanks for the Benz vids!
@1bentley4ever I even just told someone that I annotated a vid I made back in december 09 of a 85 380SL and you can see how amazingly similar they are! Anytime! I love doing vintage car videos :)
@saabkyle04 Vintage cars seem more exciting to me than modern cars, even though modern cars have more toys. I loves that 380sl vid. This one is even more awesome! What I noticed is that both SLs had their hardtops on. A REALLY rare Mercedes to find is the 1970s Mercedes 450SLC. The SLC looks like a hardtop 70-80s SL with a longer wheelbase, but is based on the older S-class 250SE you did a vid on. In essence, it is an early CL.
@1bentley4ever Oh wow that's crazy! I have never even heard of that before, i'm going to look it up, sounds like a fantastic machine. I will be putting up that 95 LS400 video tomorrow and the 99 LS400 the following day, THAT was indeed a great find to be looking all this time and then stumble upon 2 at once haha
@saabkyle04 Can't wait to see that LS vid. The SLC is pretty awesome. I however, need to correct myself. The SLC is actually on the same platform as the SL, but is NOT a coupe S-class when it comes to chassis. It might be considered a sort of CL, though.
Покрашено плохо. Видны следы краски под передним бампером и на крышке багажника. На правом заднем крыле отходит молдинг. Кто так красит ? Нелегальные эмигранты?
It is painted badly. Paint traces under a forward bumper and on a luggage carrier cover are visible. On the right back wing departs molding. Who so paints?
Cool car Kyle. Thanks for yet another fun to watch auto review video.
