The sad thing is, they need this to survive. If they just wipe out the plant, lots of people loose their jobs. In fact, some sweat shops pay more than local businesses would pay these guys. The people want these jobs, just not the crappy conditions.
Instead of blaming the U.S., which is always the case when anything goes wrong in the world, how about doing something to make a change in your own government? This company is owned by an American man, not the U.S. If people in Lybia, Sudan, Egypt, and Syria can stand up to their governments, so can the people of Peru.
@PaulPradaShow It is not just a government issue nor is it a hatred towards the US. Whether you like it or not the company that has the plant there is owned by a US company and they're not taking these people's health and well-being into consideration. You wanna know why they put a plant here? It's so they don't have to spend the the time and money to enforce safety standards, etc. So maybe the company better dig into their budget a little and consider the risks and consequences.

you know what? even though its toxic and all and bad for the inhabitants, its seems like it is a vital source of income for this community and removing it would do harm to the local economy and many workers will loose their jobs.
@Ma77hew What if they their land was not toxic and actually grew something? They could grow food for themselves and they wouldn't need a job. These rural people used to live simple lives and now they have to buy food because of lax environmental enforcement and failure to implement basic engineering controls.
@Ma77hew lool you egit, a small minority of the population work there. The profits/precious metals go to the US Company & is dispersed to the UN as well. Its not cool US/UN go into 3rd world countries & take their resources in a way that will end up causing genocide in the long term. Is it really ok, just because they employ .a minority of people? Keep sleeping & telling yourself such as you have so you can keep sleeping in peace.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lucialamour that is retarded, what does this have to do with my sleep? anyway, the UN has nothing to do with the lead smelting operations in peru plus lead ISNT a precious metal at all, its a shitty metal worth almost nothing. Now, the US and the UN have nothing to do with the lead smelting in peru and the profits made from this specific smelting plant. Ignorance breeds ignorance and it spreads like a disease among uneducated people.
@Ma77hew Grrr nothing like someone who is stubborn & is doing the very thing they are accusing of others of doing. Stop blindly stating your opinions as facts, do a little research before you come across as more of an ejit! Its a figure of speech, duh! Really, the US has nothing to do with this Lead Smelting plant? Hahaha you dumbarse, its owned by the US company "Doe Run."
@Ma77hew They're able to do this in here thanks to the UN (who is in charge of international law, security & economic development around the world. Lool another idiotic statement of yours that the US & UN don't profit at all from this plant. The American company itself states the lead is used for "radiation sheilding, car batteries & TV screens & much more." Lead is also used for building construction & bullets, all over the world, from police to the army, etc.
@Ma77hew Are you even aware of the war going on in Middle East? You think they're just shooting blanks? You are the uneducated "sherson" spreading ignorance and disinformation. I can't waste anymore time talking to someone who doesn't even do any research but talks out his arse. Now really, go back to sleep & enjoy lala land ;p
@lucialamour I'm sorry I was wrong, but I don't spend all my time researching this stuff, why do you do it? DO you even have a life outside of Youtube? Plus Its not only the US doing this, its most European countries too, and its not just about lead smelting in peru. So i'm sorry if the US is doing this stuff, but why is it the only country being ripped a new one? Most of the problems in the peruvian plant is not directly the US or UN's fault......
... The most of the fault lands on the indiviuals responsible for the welfare of the workers in peru, and the UN can't help clean up the whole world, they don't have that kind of resources. You are saying that the US and the UN are directly responsible to watch over other countries and help them there. But in reality no government or the UN has the resources to do it! It all comes down to economical reasons. Those people working at the plant need the money, and thats all they care for.
@Ma77hew So many depend on jobs there. Even if the company leaves, the heavy pollution is still there. Many are getting chronically ill & the facing premature deaths. Neither the LO gov nor D.R. can afford to fix this immense pollution w/o outside help. We benefit from blood lead.
Please try to refrain the impulse of your ego to write more false assumptions, move on. The point is to stop being a cancer to Earth & help others when they're in trouble, even by just being educated of the truth.
@Ma77hew The purpose of the video is to expose whats going on so public pressure will get outside help. You don't seem to understand the magnitude of the pollution or the reason behind why it exists. La Oroya is one of the top ten most polluted places in the earth! Doe Run didn't keep their agreement to clean up because they don't have the money due to the global economy crisis & banks cutting its loans, etc. So what's the LO gov to do?
@Ma77hew Lool FY to your sarcastic sorry. You're still wrong, still haven't learned & still making ignorant, false assumptions. Its your ego's defense mechanism to insult me for calling out the b.s. disinfo you keep posting. This is why people around the world hate Americans like you, so ignorant, arrogant, stubborn sheople. You don't know when to SHUT UP when you don't know what you're talking about!
@lucialamour How is this single video going to raise public pressure? I understand your point, but because of the world's economy is preventing the company that owns it from doing anything, how could anyone else? Even if this somehow raises public awareness, how would people go about fixing it? How could a concerned person fix this? Are u saying that the public has to go out of their normal lives to try and fix someone else's across the world? I don't agree with what they are doing there...
But even though I don't agree with what Doe Run is doing there, how could I help individually? How does anyone help? What needs to be done is to show the video to the individuals responsible for this injustice. But just putting this video on youtube, is really not gonna help the situation. And please, don't insult people's nationality, I don't care where you are from and I wouldn't insult you based on a stereotype of one country. Not everyone in America is ignorant, arrogant, or stubborn.
Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or other foolishness.
I am not trying to troll, I am trying to have a legitimate argument with someone. Even if I am wrong and didn't research enough information, the other person could educate me more about the situation. I would love to learn more about the situation, and its not helping when people start judging and labeling people.
@Ma77hew I'm not here to argue. Sorry I was rude, you do raise good questions. Never said or meant that everyone in America is dumbed downed. I do think YT vids have a subtle impact & eventually the UN & other international organizations will step in, as they have for other third world countries in similar situations, enlisting the First World in helping to clean up the Third World's environment. Wish you good day.
@lucialamour I am sorry myself, for not researching the subject enough, and I would like to thank you for turning around and talking in a polite and non-insulting manner. I do believe that what going on there is horrible and I think everyone around the world agrees that it is a problem. It really is too bad that nobody can really help fix this at least not until the world's economy is better. Well I think we shall leave it at that. Once again, thank you, and I also wish you a nice day.
Nice PROPAGANDA video. Peru is a disease ridden country, and that's why the life expectancy is so low. Maybe they should check out L.A. and compare the air and water quality to Peru. You might be surprised.
another classic video gringo who does not tell the whole truth. accusations without knowing the real cause of pollution. La Oroya is a mine, is a city metallurgical lead soils have accumulated 87 years and that is the main source of pollution. How sad to see people being able to walk their sheep to depletion for several miles to La Oroya and levarlos say is caused by pollution. liars
I wish more people would watch this video. The sad truth is people don't give a damn-
I saw a report about the owner, he is a billionaire who lives in the Hamptons. He owns another lead factory in West Virginia, but the pollution is a bit more contained overthere-
Ira Rennert has $6,000,000,000. He can make a huge difference with a couple million, but I guess he's too selfish to think of all the poisoned children down in Peru.
Please also see the videos about lead poisoning of Roma children in Kosovo. The most serious aspect of this poisoning is that it was actually caused by the United Nations who placed them in highly toxic conditions and wouldn't evacuate them.
NO person of any worth benefits from outsourcing. Where is OSHA where is the EPA Save our Latin brothers and in turn save America from continuously being seen as the evil empire while we save the earth one community at a time.
(POST 1)all this info is so wrong. All the incoherence your posting is based on what the lucrative ong ngos fill you up with... lets get some stuff straight. Contamination has been present on la oroya since 1912, when it belong to CERRO DE PASCO COPPER,at that time there was no enviromental control. none what so ever, NONE,,
(POST#2) all contaminating particles were expeled to the air, and then fell to the ground. this has been this from 1912-1997periods where this company belong first to CERRO DE PASCO COPPER,and later to the peruvian goverment who named it CENTROMIN..
all the contaminated soil, the contaminated landscapes are a passive of all of those years. When DOE RUN bought CENTROMIN, they bought a problem.
(POST#3)Just one month before DOERUN bought CENTROMIN, CENTROMIN had presented the goverment their PAMA (CENTROMIN had elaborated) which they agreed to acomplish. BUT this PAMA was totally wrong, it wouldnt fix no environmental issue,it onlyRequiried 100 million dollars of investment, DOE RUN contractually only had to execute that PAMA, and thats it,.BUT NO,they knew this was not gonna solve a thing, so the re-did that PAMA, and now destinanated more than 200 million dollars to do it correctly..
(POST#4)what people(ong´s) claim, is that the time limits have not been respected.. OBVIOUS,, if now the PAMA costs twice,it means way more much things to do,and it would take more time,,(its a improved PAMA, which costs more, and would take more time).
REMEMBER, PERU´S goverment accepted CENTROMIN´S PAMA, and that was all DOE RUN had to do.
(POST#5) BUT NO,THEY REELABORATED A PAMA WHICH now COSTS MORE THANDOUBLE, AND WHICH WOULD ACOMPLISH THE ENVIROMENTAL GOAL, and if DR didnt care, they would have just done the cheap one CENTROMIN presented but was useless)
ok now... people keep on saying, doe run contaminates,, right?
(POST#6)LEAD on workers, with direct contact with what could be called contaminated related operations, have decreased lead on their blood level, this is a FACT. A FACT.(since the improvements done by doerun)
its under international standards.
INSTEAD yes, some people present high lead levels,,, specially children.
BUT CHILDREN DONT HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE CONTAMINATING OPERATIONS. NONE WHAT SO EVER.
(POST#7) how come children have HIGH lead levels on their blood(in the worst case scenario), and people with direct contact dont?
easy
CHILDREN LIVE ON HOUSES BUILD upon that ground that has been contaminated since 1912. kids play with that soil, most of this houses are even built with this ground.(remember who contaminated the ground since 1912-1997?)
(POST#8)ergo*- the contaminated agent is a passive from, CERRO DE PASCO COPPPER, AND CENTROMIN.
they never acomplished none environmental standard. contaminated the air, which later fell to the fields, ground, soil, all around LA OROYA. (workers lead levels have dicreased as result of the improvements made with the PAMA DR ELABORATED)
(POST#9)children with somewhat lead levels on blood, is definetely an issue, but its not DR fault. On the agreement when CENTROMIN was sold, DR was only tied to acomplish the PAMA, and it was estipulated CENTROMIN, would take care of removing all the contaminated ground, soul, landscapes, etc,. THERE IS A PROBLEM, DEFINETELY, BUT ITS CENTROMIN, i guess lots of people got it wrong, THATS WHY ITS GOOD to do some research before.
SOMETHING TO REMEMBER: ONGS EXIST AND ONLY EXIST IF THEY KEEP HAVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM OTHERS. IF THERES NOTHING TO PROTEST, THIS ONGS WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. (on peru many people just use ongs to get rich) the enviromental issue is important, but direct the complaints to the real source, dont just bash to get financial aid.
CAPITALISM DOES NOT HAVE HUMAN FACE. THIS IS THE ENEMY OF OUR PEOPLE AND OF THE PLANET. FIRST ARE THE $MILLION$ THAT GOES TO THE WALL OF THE "GRINGOS", AND HERE? MUCH OF METALS WITH LOT OF VALUE UNDER OUR GROUND, BUT PERUVIANS ARE STILL IN POORNESS OR ONLY HAVE Underemployment FOR 50? OR 150 YEARS? AFTER THAT? HOW THE PLANET WILL BE?...
trust me, every1s tried 2 contact doe run. im workin on a documentry on the doe run company right now an they wont even give me the common courtesy of returning a phone call, letter, or email
The sad thing is, they need this to survive. If they just wipe out the plant, lots of people loose their jobs. In fact, some sweat shops pay more than local businesses would pay these guys. The people want these jobs, just not the crappy conditions.

So i'm sorry if the US is doing this stuff, but why is it the only country being ripped a new one? Most of the problems in the peruvian plant is not directly the US or UN's fault......
Ma77hew 1 year ago
Ma77hew 1 year ago
@Ma77hew So many depend on jobs there. Even if the company leaves, the heavy pollution is still there. Many are getting chronically ill & the facing premature deaths. Neither the LO gov nor D.R. can afford to fix this immense pollution w/o outside help. We benefit from blood lead.
Please try to refrain the impulse of your ego to write more false assumptions, move on. The point is to stop being a cancer to Earth & help others when they're in trouble, even by just being educated of the truth.
lucialamour 1 year ago 2
@Ma77hew The purpose of the video is to expose whats going on so public pressure will get outside help. You don't seem to understand the magnitude of the pollution or the reason behind why it exists. La Oroya is one of the top ten most polluted places in the earth! Doe Run didn't keep their agreement to clean up because they don't have the money due to the global economy crisis & banks cutting its loans, etc. So what's the LO gov to do?
lucialamour 1 year ago 2
@Ma77hew Lool FY to your sarcastic sorry. You're still wrong, still haven't learned & still making ignorant, false assumptions. Its your ego's defense mechanism to insult me for calling out the b.s. disinfo you keep posting. This is why people around the world hate Americans like you, so ignorant, arrogant, stubborn sheople.
Ma77hew 1 year ago
But even though I don't agree with what Doe Run is doing there, how could I help individually? How does anyone help? What needs to be done is to show the video to the individuals responsible for this injustice. But just putting this video on youtube, is really not gonna help the situation. And please, don't insult people's nationality, I don't care where you are from and I wouldn't insult you based on a stereotype of one country. Not everyone in America is ignorant, arrogant, or stubborn.

Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or other foolishness.
peculiarcorner 1 year ago
I am not trying to troll, I am trying to have a legitimate argument with someone. Even if I am wrong and didn't research enough information, the other person could educate me more about the situation. I would love to learn more about the situation, and its not helping when people start judging and labeling people.
Ma77hew 1 year ago
@Ma77hew I'm not here to argue. Sorry I was rude, you do raise good questions. Never said or meant that everyone in America is dumbed downed. I do think YT vids have a subtle impact & eventually the UN & other international organizations will step in, as they have for other third world countries in similar situations, enlisting the First World in helping to clean up the Third World's environment. Wish you good day.
lucialamour 1 year ago
@lucialamour I am sorry myself, for not researching the subject enough, and I would like to thank you for turning around and talking in a polite and non-insulting manner. I do believe that what going on there is horrible and I think everyone around the world agrees that it is a problem. It really is too bad that nobody can really help fix this at least not until the world's economy is better. Well I think we shall leave it at that. Once again, thank you, and I also wish you a nice day.

GuilleFloresD 3 years ago

GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
GuilleFloresD 3 years ago
bashzs 3 years ago
aliccice 3 years ago

(POST 1)all this info is so wrong. All the incoherence your posting is based on what the lucrative ong ngos fill you up with... lets get some stuff straight. Contamination has been present on la oroya since 1912, when it belong to CERRO DE PASCO COPPER,at that time there was no enviromental control. none what so ever, NONE,,
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#2) all contaminating particles were expeled to the air, and then fell to the ground. this has been this from 1912-1997periods where this company belong first to CERRO DE PASCO COPPER,and later to the peruvian goverment who named it CENTROMIN..
all the contaminated soil, the contaminated landscapes are a passive of all of those years. When DOE RUN bought CENTROMIN, they bought a problem.
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#3)Just one month before DOERUN bought CENTROMIN, CENTROMIN had presented the goverment their PAMA (CENTROMIN had elaborated) which they agreed to acomplish. BUT this PAMA was totally wrong, it wouldnt fix no environmental issue,it onlyRequiried 100 million dollars of investment, DOE RUN contractually only had to execute that PAMA, and thats it,.BUT NO,they knew this was not gonna solve a thing, so the re-did that PAMA, and now destinanated more than 200 million dollars to do it correctly..
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#4)what people(ong´s) claim, is that the time limits have not been respected.. OBVIOUS,, if now the PAMA costs twice,it means way more much things to do,and it would take more time,,(its a improved PAMA, which costs more, and would take more time).
REMEMBER, PERU´S goverment accepted CENTROMIN´S PAMA, and that was all DOE RUN had to do.
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#5) BUT NO,THEY REELABORATED A PAMA WHICH now COSTS MORE THANDOUBLE, AND WHICH WOULD ACOMPLISH THE ENVIROMENTAL GOAL, and if DR didnt care, they would have just done the cheap one CENTROMIN presented but was useless)
ok now... people keep on saying, doe run contaminates,, right?
they are wrong, or want to disinform others.
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#6)LEAD on workers, with direct contact with what could be called contaminated related operations, have decreased lead on their blood level, this is a FACT. A FACT.(since the improvements done by doerun)
its under international standards.
INSTEAD yes, some people present high lead levels,,, specially children.
BUT CHILDREN DONT HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE CONTAMINATING OPERATIONS. NONE WHAT SO EVER.
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#7) how come children have HIGH lead levels on their blood(in the worst case scenario), and people with direct contact dont?
easy
CHILDREN LIVE ON HOUSES BUILD upon that ground that has been contaminated since 1912. kids play with that soil, most of this houses are even built with this ground.(remember who contaminated the ground since 1912-1997?)
bashzs 4 years ago
(POST#8)ergo*- the contaminated agent is a passive from, CERRO DE PASCO COPPPER, AND CENTROMIN.
they never acomplished none environmental standard. contaminated the air, which later fell to the fields, ground, soil, all around LA OROYA. (workers lead levels have dicreased as result of the improvements made with the PAMA DR ELABORATED)
bashzs 4 years ago
