In my humble opinion, sticking just to funk style is getting a little outdated, and its too stereotypical, and boring (Main reason). Good eg: Step up 2. They combine everything into one, and that brings another new unique thing! A real good popper/dancer will not have any trouble with any beat at all.

locking is itself a great dance. if dancers choose to dance to a certain kind of music. then that is there decision. why follow the trend or the crowd and do what everyone else is doing. thats what seperates a dancer from the others. you can explore your dance with different kinds of music. or you can stay with whatever makes you feel the music. imagine a Waltzers waltzing to gangsta rap. theyre exploring. but it just might not give them the feel for it. same with locking. lockers love Funk.

You could actually lock to any song, as long as it has a steady beat. It's up to the person who dances to interpret the song they would. That's why I wouldn't say locking is limited; it's only limited to how you feel the music.

The reason why i said that is because I've SEEN IT BEEN DONE and it does NOT LOOK good! If you wanna restrict yourself to one rigid stuff, then go for it! I think it's cool that it's a mixed dance competition, but right when it went to the popping, I saw it going horribly for Shy Guy and I was right. You could definitely tell the difference not only in their popping levels, but their dancing levels in general.
