I served with 3rd Battalion 7th Marines in Ramadi in 2005 during the (extremely successful) elections and with Second Battalion 7th Marines in Fallujah in 2006-2007. Also, for the naive reading this, there are very few American military "genocidal psychos" in Iraq. There are a lot of men fighting the war in Iraq, and war is a horrible thing where men perpetrate horrible acts. That's why it isn't called "The Iraq Tupperware Party."

Ethanol releases more CO2 emissions per amount of energy produced than do petroleum products. It is worst off than gasoline if you are worried about CO2 production. We have enough oil on our own land to keep it cheap until conversion is made into another type of fuel. However, congress and the house will not permit such drilling. It would help if oil was not traded as a future, rather bought as needed, this would decrease speculation costs of fuel, which is a major reason for oil being so high.

I do know what you mean about being brainwashed by academia. I attended a very liberal state university and majored in political science. My professors were left-wing radicals and influenced my views heavily. I now work in academia and teach radical views, balanced with conservative and middle of the road view points. That is changing though as more conservative instructors are being hired. I think when you are open to all ideas you naturally lean toward the left. It's much more open minded....

Yes, we need to establish English as the official language of the US or we'll lose our culture; and need to increase our own supply of oil through clean, safe nuclear energy developed here in the USA + through exploring for our own natural resources in Alaska and off the Fla.
