I never liked hartke ...they sound like paper ..

His sound IS different, but his basses have been different as well. It might not all be in the rig where his sound has evolved.

Vic used that alder and rosewood Monarch for so long, then switched to an alder bodied Monarch with the Yin Yang (holly and ebony) top and maple finger board. That definitely sounded better.

I'm not sure what the woods are on the bass in this clip... ebony and ?
