  • This was my bar cleaning music in 1984-86. It was on a Muzak-type multitrack tape that played throughout the bar. It was my "secret dancing" music, as I was all alone in the bar 3 nights a week.

  • Thats cute!

  • This song is sooooo bad that it's good

  • I would like to hear Katy Perry remake this.

  • There's a scene in one of her earlier cheesy films called 'Wind Rider' that proves she is not a natural red head too...British and American fans seem convinced she is but she ain't!

  • Smokin bass line!, Cool wah pedal bends and artificial harmonics. Love the guy in the middle screaming

  • @udroheath Great bass line indeed. Mega daggy video though, as you say, Ross Wilson popping up into the screen dressed in white, singing his bit, then disappearing is what made this song!!

  • I believe this is her: 3:27

  • Fun song but I'm glad it wasn't a hit in the US. I don't think I could handle it more than once.

  • hahahaha planking!

  • Thumbs up if YAHOO! News brought you here!! :))

  • @sarahi010

Nope not me, actually I saw "Ross Wilson" on "Spicks and Specks" and now thanks to that, I sung that at my school talent quest and came 2nd! I have ti sing it to thousands of people tomorrow! EEEKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont think kidman is 15. Its a yahoo-kidman production scam! She was around 22.

  • @gastonytHQ Nicole Kidman born 1967, song released 1982 see if you can figure it out from here

  • @gastonytHQ she was definitely 16 - this song is from '83 and she was born in '67. We aussies remember her being in BMX Bandits the same year (crap film) and she was only in her teens.

  • Which one is Nicole Kidman? I can't clearly see their faces..

  • the vodka is A okay hahahahah

  • Pop !! Whizz !! Bang !! Zoom !! BaDoink !!

  • nicole is reading book at beginning and in the pool - 0.30 OMG they are planking in 1983 kool

  • @000gothica They should get royalties for being the real inventors of planking!

  • Everything about this video is just so random

  • @Cabess12 i know right :)

  • Nicole Kidman smoking in the video. Hawt!

  • Trivia: The music video features a 15-year old Nicole Kidman.

  • love it old maroubra in sydney and the old duck pegging out eastern suburbs football sox .. classic

  • LOL @ 1:51

  • 0:28 - 0:34 - first ever plank??

  • @gavlaing too true!

  • Was overseas when this song released.Heard it about 6 weeks ago on 4KQ . Could not get it out of my head. Found the title this morning and have been repeating on you tube 1/2 the day. It's embedded in my brain. Needs to b re-released.

  • Yes did any one see Nicole Kidman....didn't know she appeared in this,

  • wow! this song brings back great memories!

  • I saw Nicole Kidman!!!

  • I remember this song! They played it a lot on "The Wave", a radio station that featured "new wave" music...

  • the ol` hillman hoist got the Easts socks right....Ross Wilson had the distinctive style, didnt he? Even his wife jived the same way

  • the ol` hillman hoist got the Easts socks right

  • no more stop-motion!

  • she was wilson's wife...eagle rock`s Wilson that is,he`s in it at the end

  • @jungenaziboy Was? Did she die or summint?

  • she was wilsons wife

  • Nik Kidman is so daggy in this pmsl

  • Gotta love a very young Nicole Kidman in this clip, made on my old stomping ground of Maroubra..

  • This song reminds me when I was a little girl in the Philippines and played in my brother's grade school dance program..

  • @xzyza2000

That was in 1984.The era of duran duran and spandua ballet As well as the british influence goes on wtth madonna and MJ.This was featured at eat bulaga with a dance contest.

  • @joussef911 yes, I saw that dance in Eat Bulaga circa 1984.. But my brother hated that song when he was little because their performance in their school was very corny.. lol.

  • oh come on people........she's a Bop girl????????? Pat Wilson wanted to be star like her husband so Ross wrote that song for her...........all Pat was doing was singing about the fact that she masturbates and didnt realize it..............why do you think Ross comes end and howles

  • B O P G I R L

  • Did anyone notice Pat's husband Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock) also makes an appearance?

  • Comment removed

  • LOL i remember this song from primary school! It was played insted of a bell to tell us morning recess had ended and to go line up to go back into class!

  • Nicole's soooo cute!!! haha so funny and catchy song! Can't get it out of my head!

  • Nicole's the one w/ the cigerette i had this tape at one time cute tune.

  • Does that beach look suspiciously like the one in the clip for Come Said The Boy? Either way, this song having any association with Ross Wilson, let alone the huge amount it does, deserves to be treated as an Aussie classic.

  • nice song...... wanna dance.....

  • Those wacky Australians! I'd love to have this EP on CD.

  • God damn, that reminds me of my childhood! Takes me back! I never realised how close Material Girl is to this song, as far as the hook goes.

  • cool song but what's the meaning of this song? i dont get it!!????

  • @czarinadude15 I believe this song puts forth the premise that the whole world's searching for their own bop girl.

  • Awsome song. Ross Wilson certified GENIUS. The only man who could rival Paul Kelly as our greatest songwrier ever and purely for the greatest song of all time Touch of paradise.

  • @zapkvr Well, I reckon Colin Hay could probably rival; as well as Iva Davies. But, basically, im with you.

  • @stevechavura Agree Colin was probably more famous internationally for Downunder. That first album of MAW was brilliant. I still think Ross pips him though. Eagle rock is one of the greatest rock anthems of all time.

  • LOL the video looks like it cost all of 50 bucks to make....

  • Bop (Bind on Pickup) Girl?

  • MY SECOND NAMES WILSON :D

  • what a coincidence! my penis is named johnson!

  • I prefer Nicole Kidman when she was a bop girl

  • She doesnt prefer you at all

  • @angtsili I preferred her in the movie "Birth" There was only like about eleven of us who saw that movie but it was f****** amazing.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a digital copy of this song?

  • yes get an old vhs video camera, film your computer screen, plug in into your tv and take a polaroid of every frame, then use a new fangled digital camera to take pics of the polaroids then make a cassette recording of the audio and click your digital camera button really fast while playing the cassette tape.

  • Daaannnggg I love this songg!!

I've known this song since i was 4

  • love this song- i remermber dancing to it at a party with my parents and brother as a 4 yr old...now my 2 yr old daughter loves it! very catchy and fun :)

  • Nicole Kidman awr. *-*

  • Memories of the 2SM Rock Video show at High School in the days before the internet, dvds and more than 4 tv stations.

  • I remember this hit just before Cyndi Lauper"s "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". I remember them being kinda similar as in bubbly and happy.

  • No It's not Magda.. and it was Nicole Kidman's first acting / TV role I believe.

  • Nicole is in this video and she's so young. Is that Magda Szubanski?. I love this song. Time to start a party with this fantastic song. Nicole was just 15 here

    Anna

  • 16. Her birthday's June, '67. She's now 42,

  • 2:24 is classic.

    Good ol' Ross Wilson.

    fantastic song this

  • I remember they replaced this video with a lamer one featuring Molly Meldrum doing sit ups singing the "she's a bob girl" parts. Then the TV smashed it - just because Meldrum was in it. Nicole got ripped!

  • middle of 1983

  • brilliant! classic song ...

  • it looks like south coogee and i'm thinking maroubra beach and maroubra seals car park, pat looks good in black and nicole legend, classic song.

  • Nicole Kidman is the best!

  • lol on 1:50 it looks like she's scratching her butt into the couch...hahaha!!!!

  • what the hell's wrong with you?? ofcourse i love the song, it just looked so funny when shes doing the shaking thing in the vid.. dont like my comment? then you should not have responded..

  • Those are St Kilda socks on the clothes line

  • No, shot in Sydney. They are Eastern Suburbs league socks.

  • Yep, very Easts locations. Were they Eastern Suburbs league groupies panties hanging on the clothesline at the start? If they were Nic`s let the bidding start.

  • St Kilda socks...but shot in Sydney...2:05 is South Coogee

  • In a time before Sydney was a real multicultural shit heap.........

  • Roosters socks, I think. Coogee and over the Eastern Suburbs. A little bit of Bondi.

  • YEAP>>>>he looks like Nicole Kidman!!

  • I remember when Wilson received an aria for this song. He was so blown away He wrote in in like two minutes (or less) and every Aussie knew the simple (yet catchy) tune. Car all over Australia were swerving to the tune of bop girl.

I surprised to find it can still be downloaded of the net, ...

GO YOU GOOD THING, GO AUSSIE ...

  • Funny how this was filmed in Sydney at all considering Ross Wilson / Mondo Rock were a Melbourne Group and Pat was married to Ross at the time.

    End of Drunken Rant :)

  • it is why I fear Sydney:(

  • OMG what a classic song! The only problem is that since I watched it the other day, for the first time in about 25 years, I haven't been able to push that damn tune out of my brain. It's driving me nuts!!

  • I know the feeling. I heard it in bars owned by Australians while I was stationed in the Philippines. Before today, I think I last heard it in 1983.

  • lol same here i had it on re play on youtube for about 3 hours

  • @reichman73 now it in my brain and its heading straight back into yours again i bet

  • @reichman73 Don't worry you aren't on your own. Ross Wilson is the greatest songwriter Australia has ever produced. Okay, he didn't write the two greatest songs of all time, Friday on my mind and When the war is over but he has more in the top twenty than anyone near him. I am delighted to say I have seen every band he has ever been in. He just gets better and better. Pat is freakin gorgeous. Nicole looks pretty fine too.

  • @reichman73 i know exactly what you mean lol , i been walking round singing . "shes a bop girl shes a bop bop girl " my son thinks ive lost the plot lol

  • Loved this song when I was 5!

  • is that 7 hills in the video? or blacktown?

  • See how the beach has only tiny little waves. This clip was made in and around Melbourne. Nicole was a Sydney gal but Pat/Ross Wilson were certainly Meburnians.

  • i love this song!!!

  • oh my gosh. nicole is never only 15 on that video?!?!?!! she looks about 30!! this song is crap btw! i can't beleive i watched the whole of that thing just to see where nicole comes in. i was expecting to see a little girl at 15! but she looks like a woman! :o

  • this was the first time nicole kidman was ever on tv. and she still rocks.

  • Enjoyed your "song."

    Pity about your pixels.

  • omg, i hadn't seen this video since it came out, thanks for the trip down memory lane. how wierd it looks now, lol

  • Nicole is my cousin and she did not get Botox. you can call her and ask her. she was scared that something might happen to her wile she had kids Conner and Bela.

  • Oh, btw, I don't believe she got botox.

  • That one man at the end looks like Elvis. But Nicole was only 15 years old when this was made, if I'm right.

  • You are.

  • This video makes my eyes hurt.

  • PAT it's so beatiful ¡WoW! the last year she looks very well.

  • The Dud sort of has a point (made quite badly). The Cindy Lauper song "She Bop" is quite plainly about Masturbation however I don't believe that this song implies anything other than good old wholesome dancing fun.

  • ross wilsons wife...ross wilson??....none other than the lead singer from aussie bands mondo Rock and Daddy Cool!!

  • Nicole! You are beautiful!!

  • I was going to post a snide comment about the shitty 80's quality of the video, but then I realised that it's about on par with you average modern-day YouTube video. Nicole Kidman is still hot.

  • that'll learn ya

  • Fantastic song

  • I think it's funny how Nicole Kidman is just jumping up and down in the last scene. And did the girl on the left make a mistake by going down too early at 2:23?

  • Very funny clip!!!!! The 80's was a crazy decade with so much fun!!

  • wow....was that reallyt nicole k.? ohhhh the 80's......love 'em til now......

    the good memories...

  • haha Kidman jumping like a statist LOL

  • 25 years old this song..have a look at the crows feet on my face for fuck sake

  • I'll give it one thing, I like the beat and the medoly of the song. she's not bad either!

  • is that big white house scene in south coogee?

  • This is a really great song. I remember it as a dance club mix here in the states from back in the day. St. Kilda Saints socks hanging on the line, cool.

  • ...the awesome ross hannaford on guitar

  • Hey I am the girl eating the marshmellows, What a blast from the past. Nicole and I were students from the Australian Theatre for Young People. Pretty cool to see it on this site.I am now 43!!!

  • Awesome ! Totally cool that you came across this. I just love it when people involved in great vid's like this find time to comment.

  • love 80s funk, 80s pop/New Wave/alternative Britsh music, New Wave, hair metal, 80s disco, etc...the 80s had one of the best music genres ever.

  • wow blast from the past. Love it...

  • I crank this song up on my 500 watt stereo at home and it make me happy as hell. She's hot ! SNAP ! BOP GIRL !

  • Is that her hubby Ross in the backing vocals? Keeping an eye on her perhaps....

  • I have this on vinyl. LOL

  • Actually an old discarded Daddy Cool song.

  • motels, men at work, inxs....made in Australia too.

  • the models were aussies, not the motels

  • true, but you remember the motels making fame when they arrive to australia.

  • omg ahahahahahahaha i love this song, its such a pissah,

  • I am the bop bop boy.

  • This clip was actually directed by famous Aussie director Gillian Armstrong. She directed many movies including My Brilliant Career and Little Women. Dated and strangely naive now but the song is pretty catchy and was a big local hit.

  • When this song came out I was 15, and me and my friends all saw it on Countdown. I remember at school one day, this guy telling a girl - who he was trying to impress - that he liked this song. I thought he was either tone-deaf or just desperate.

  • cant really see nicole but she looks the same.soo pretty

this video is weird and the song too

  • I love this song. It's one of my favorite music video. Thanks for uploading it.

  • mariogorga: sorry, but.... Pat is my girlfriend (she dont know of course), ja ja ja ja

  • I shared many glasses of champagner with the Bop Bop Girl, havent seen you in 20 years !!where are you Pat??

  • Thanks for sharing this one! It's one of my favs from the 80's!

  • Thanks so much for posting. Nicole's surely a tall gal.

  • GO PAT!! She owns a gorgeous cafe in Melbourne

Working up to taking my 12" bop girl vinyl in for a signing

  • That video is a real !what the fuck!!!' if ever I saw it!!! There a songs and videos that are shockers and this is VERY shocking!!!

Actually, I wonder if this is a glowing part of Nicole Kidman's portfolio!!!

  • welll...and 23 years after my friend...

  • what a pity that in 1983 they didnt invent face transplants! even with makeup pat wilson looks like a woof woofa!

  • I haven't heard this since I was a tiny kid - apparently I listened to it so much I wore the record out.

  • this woman is beatiful. where are you pat???

  • thanks for this video,

  • She's no longer married to Ross Wilson, I know that.

  • I saw her on the Steve Vizard show around 1993 and a Bop Bop Girl she was not! She came across as a more serious schoolteacher like, no smiles or anything. I wonder what that marriage did?

  • It wasn't the marriage, it must have been being in the presence of Steve Vizard.
